Dead insects Gina!!! Why??"

Hah! I used to do that when I was a kid. I kept them in a cardboard box until one day I opened it and all these little red bugs swarmed out.

Although to be fair, I still have three beetles and a butterfly sitting in a glass box on my shelves.

I collect buttons (sure I'm not alone here?!) and balls and Easter egg wrappings and other miscellaneous shiny things.

You sound like a bower bird;)

I am a bit of a bower bird, Brenda :) Our house is filled with the things I collect. But I also use them in my art. This is a bat that a friend gave to me: http://www.goodreads.com/photo/author...
And the background for this image is blue tongue lizard claws: http://www.goodreads.com/photo/author...

No creatures were killed or injured in order to make these images!

And Peregrine, I love the sound of your glass box of insects. I have my bat in a lovely glass box. Very beautiful. :)

I collected road kills for photos too. :0 Received some very strange looks from motorists. Of course I didn't keep them! Art makes you do some strange things...

Sharon Robards (sharonrobards) | 944 comments I haven't collected any for a couple of years because they are harder to come by - the ones I don't have. But I have a very large collection of minature glass spirit bottles that I started to collect when I was eighteen.

It's hard to find them in glass now, usually just plastic unless they are special editions. Most of the alcohol has evaporated out of them, but I still have a tequilla bottle that is still half full with the little worm in it.

Sherri (fabledhattress) | 456 comments I have two giant stuffed animals that I used to use as my pillow because they worked so much better but alas, he gave me an actual pillow to use so that I didn't use them. They're sitting outside in my wardrobe in storage haha.

Joanne (shuangs) | 128 comments i'm also a big fan of soft animals, specially soft toy dogs. So, i guess i can consider as collecting it. When i was young i used to collect paper bags, fancy shop paper bags, that almost non-existant now. I also used to collect plustic cards, from old room card, credit cards, loyalty cards, well, you name it i'm sure i got it somewhare. And now, i'm obsess with technology and books. I read books thru my iPad, however, if a book interest me enough, i'll go and get the hard copy and have it in my books collection. For certain, almost every writers events or festivals, i'll definitely spend a lot of $$$ on hard copy books, regardless either i have the soft copy books in place or not.
Oh, last but not least, i also a big fan of life art performance, e.g. theaters, musicals, concerts. Naturally, i collect each an every bits and pieces from the event, from tickets to programs to who knows what. :)

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Other than books, I collect anime boxsets :P Also, not so much anymore, but I used to be very into Warhammer 40k and Warmahordes, the tabletop miniatures.

Sharon Robards (sharonrobards) | 944 comments I would have collected minature trains if I had the space to set up a house sized minature train scenery thingy.
