I am a bit of a bower bird, Brenda :) Our house is filled with the things I collect. But I also use them in my art. This is a bat that a friend gave to me: http://www.goodreads.com/photo/author...
And the background for this image is blue tongue lizard claws: http://www.goodreads.com/photo/author...
No creatures were killed or injured in order to make these images!
And Peregrine, I love the sound of your glass box of insects. I have my bat in a lovely glass box. Very beautiful. :)

Oh wow Gina!!! Definitely different to what I imagined when you said I collect ..... and dead insects. :)
I collected road kills for photos too. :0 Received some very strange looks from motorists. Of course I didn't keep them! Art makes you do some strange things...

Haha it's great stuff, and pet and kid friendly! The wax is food grade so it's not toxic either :)

It's hard to find them in glass now, usually just plastic unless they are special editions. Most of the alcohol has evaporated out of them, but I still have a tequilla bottle that is still half full with the little worm in it.

Oh, last but not least, i also a big fan of life art performance, e.g. theaters, musicals, concerts. Naturally, i collect each an every bits and pieces from the event, from tickets to programs to who knows what. :)

Dead insects Gina!!! Why??"
Hah! I used to do that when I was a kid. I kept them in a cardboard box until one day I opened it and all these little red bugs swarmed out.
Although to be fair, I still have three beetles and a butterfly sitting in a glass box on my shelves.
I collect buttons (sure I'm not alone here?!) and balls and Easter egg wrappings and other miscellaneous shiny things.
