I agree with this...Lone Wolf wasn't my favorite and I really didn't care for Tenth Circle. But most of the others I have loved.

I loved 19 minutes - I haven't read many of her books yet (4) but Nineteen minutes has been my fav so far!

Doesn't she give a great presentation? I went to see her on March 3rd....and totally enjoyed it. When she read the excerpt, the audience was rapt and silent. As I am reading the book now, I can remember the back stories she discussed about doing her research, and it is just much more meaningful to me. I am so glad that you had the opportunity to see her as well. I'm not sure...did you start the book yet? If not, you will totally become engrossed, although it isn't an easy book to read; however it is her best (in my opinion), although I have about 200 pages left to read.

That's great to be able to share it with friends! My hubby went with me this year since my "reading" friends couldn't go, and a couple of other times I went alone. Last year my sister in law and I saw Kristin Hannah and Adriana Trigiani together. I love to go to book signings..authors are like rock stars to me!

I would ALWAYS go to book signings with you Sue! I feel exactly the same way. Even if it is an author I haven't read, I would go listen to what they have to say and possibly find a new author on the way. I have not heard of Adriana Trigiani...will have to go search for her books.

My hubby went with me last year and bought the Chicago Tribune and sat in the parking lot and read it from front to back. Luckily it was a beautiful day.

Dara, Adriana Trigiani is an Italian American author who writes a variety of books...young adult, cookbooks, stand alone women's fiction. Last year she wrote a family saga loosely based on the story of her grandparents from their childhoods in Italy through their immigration to NYC...it was terrific. She also has a 3rd book in a trilogy coming out sometime this year, the Valentina books, which is a wonderful, light series. I haven't read all of her books, but she has been interviewed on tv, and in person she is funny, warm and very friendly. Check her out. I am waiting for her next book signing to be announced this year...I think it would be fun to go to book signings with you, another bibliophile!

Ashlee (ashlee_) | 83 comments Just saw Jodi on March 7th. Was my second time seeing her. She is awesome! Made a shirt that said "Team Picoult" and I waited to be the last one in line to meet her. She loved my shirt, asked to take pictures of me, and told me she was sending it to her publisher. :) I love her! And I just finished The Storyteller. NEW FAVORITE!

Really? My friend pre-ordered the book for me and I got it on the day it came out, they ship the pre-orders a few days before they are released so those who pre-ordered will get them on the day they come out. Very odd! But I hope you like the book!

message 270: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 10 comments Maybe it depends on where she ordered it from? I would be pretty pissed-off, that's all I know. I got mine from Amazon. It came the afternoon that it was released. Anyway, glad you have it now!

Meesha | 3 comments I'm reading Nineteen Minutes nowadays and i'm in absolute love. I'm looking for new books to buy, could any of you recommend some, please? The best of Jodi Picoult and other authors too. Thanks. :)

message 273: by Sue (new)

Sue Seligman (bookfan55) | 25 comments Just finished The Storyteller last night...what a book! No spoilers, but very intense yet realistic, emotional and great, empathetic characters! Her best one yet!
I posted a review on my Goodreads profile page...just read this book!

message 274: by Shina (new)

Shina | 11 comments I am currently reading Nineteen Minutes. I really like it so far. it hits close to home as a few weeks into my son's 1st year in high school I received a text that his school was on lockdown due to a student with a gun.

message 275: by Alexis (new)

Alexis | 41 comments Meesha, have you read House Rules? If not, I highly recommend this novel. It's one of her best IMO.

message 276: by Marti (new)

Marti (marjay) | 8 comments I agreed with a number of you when you say that sometimes the content of Jodi's books didn't resonate with you as much as others. A couple of my favorites: Her Sister's Keeper and 19 Minutes. I did like Lone Wolf also.

I have seen Jodi Picoult twice and would see her again and again and again. I love it when she had some of the audience howling like wolves.

I just started The Storyteller.. Enjoying it so far!

Thanks alot. :)
I just finished Nineteen minutes and I was so sad when I realized that it had ended. I'll try and see if i can get my hands on a copy of that. Any others from different authors? :)

message 278: by Ash (new)

Ash | 3 comments I am JUST beginning Vanishing Acts and also picked up My Sister's Keeper. Something I am realizing about myself while reading Picoult's books is that missing someone who passed away 5 years ago & leaving home (my home state & moving across the country) for the 1st time almost 3 years ago, being homesick...I look for these 2 things everywhere. I search for anything that reminds me of that person I lost and any place or bit of lighting that reminds me of home. It's not a happy thought. It's painful.

message 279: by Betsy (new)

Betsy (mistymtladi) | 36 comments Hello Ash,
In my case it's a "lost love" Death must be so much worse, but yeah, its' painful, even after many years. I try hard to avoid lightening bolts but I still get zapped every once in awhile... This is just to let you know I understand and I'll put up a couple of prayers for both of us.Only Bittersweet isn't good enough.I hope in time only the sweet remains.

message 290: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyjeanne) | 6 comments I just started reading 19 Minutes and am really enjoying it. It is so easy to ready a Jodi Picoult book. You just get so involved in the characters from the start. Does anyone want to discuss 19 Minutes?

message 291: by Dara (new)

Dara | 145 comments Nineteen Minutes was the first JP book that I read and even after reading 90% of her books it is by far my favorite!!

message 292: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyjeanne) | 6 comments I love Jodi Picoult's books because they present moral dilemmas and make you think and relook at your beliefs. This book just makes me want to look every teenager in the eyes and ask are you okay?

Dara | 145 comments Nancy wrote: "I love Jodi Picoult's books because they present moral dilemmas and make you think and relook at your beliefs. This book just makes me want to look every teenager in the eyes and ask are you okay?"

Nancy that is exactly what I love about her writing as well. I am on several reading groups here on GR and I get really defensive and have to bite my tongue when people criticize JP's stories. One comment in particular just makes my blood boil and I see it with some regularity amongst those who don't love her work as we do is, "I can't believe the mother in My Sisters Keeper would be so neglectful of her other children" or something to that effect. Are people really that shallow that they can't see the point of her story? But oh well...it takes all kinds and the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things.

I really like it

message 295: by Shelby (new)

Shelby (shelbygoldie) | 2 comments I'm trying to pick between Lone Wolf, The Pact, and My Sister's Keeper to take on vacation. I've read almost all of her other books and have loved them all. I would have to say that Nineteen Minutes, Handle with Care, and House Rules have been my favorites so far! Based on that, which of the three books would you recommend reading first? I've seen the movie based on My Sister's Keeper and enjoyed that, but I'm afraid knowing so much of the book will make it less enjoyable. What do you all think? :) Thanks!

message 296: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyjeanne) | 6 comments I haven't read Lone Wolf but I would highly recommend The Pact. As much as I loved My Sister's Keeper, part of what I love about Jodi Picoult's books are they are unpredicatable. If you saw the movie and already know the story, the book won't have as much impact. I'd say take The Pact.

message 297: by Shelby (new)

Shelby (shelbygoldie) | 2 comments Thank you!

message 298: by Dara (new)

Dara | 145 comments I would have to disagree with Nancy on this one. Respectfully, of course. The ending of the movie was completelyyyy different than My Sister's Keeper. By changing the ending it just became any old sad story. The message is in the ending. I don't think having seen the movie will ruin the book for you.

With that being said, I don't know if I could limit myself to just one book on vacation! lol...I would say of those three I would choose My Sister's Keeper, then The Pact and then Lone Wolf.

message 299: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyjeanne) | 6 comments Thanks for your comment. Actually, I didn't see the movie, so I should not have generalized. Thanks for your input.

message 300: by Hayley (new)

Hayley | 2 comments Now I have finished reading Lone Wolf I have read all of Jodi Picoult's books except for her latest called The Storyteller. Has anyone read it yet? If so what did you think? I find war stories really hard to read so not sure if it will be my cup of tea. I'm also thinking about getting my sister Between the Lines which Picoult wrote with her daughter. I know its a teen novel but has anyone read it? Just want to make sure it will be suitable for an 11 year old before I buy it. Thanks :)
