Kai Strand (goodreadscomkai_strand) | 1 comments Hi everybody,

My name is Kai Strand (pronounced like the letter, K) and I'm the author of the middle grade novel, The Weaver.

About The Weaver:

In a town of word weavers, Mary suffers through her third year of Novice Word Weaving. Mary thinks her troubles are over when she meets a gnome-elf who grants her a wish. But instead of weaving a better story, she's weaving strange yarn charms to accompany her still pathetic tales.

The Weaver was a finalist in the Global eBook Awards. And is a finalist in the EPIC eBook Awards, also. I'll be sure to add it to the bookshelf, too.

This looks like a great resource for readers. I'll be sure to add a link back to the group on my author page on Facebook.

Ken Bontempo (goodreadscombontempo) | 1 comments Hi group,
My name is Ken and I would like to submit my short children's story. It's called The Adventures of Frankie the Farting Whale. It's a silly, fun and educational bedtime story about a young whale who ignores his mother's advice and sets off on a world tour in search of his favorite food.
This story is probably most suitable for boys 3 to 9 years of age who enjoy carminative episodes. However, girls are also invited to subject themselves to the imagined, albeit innocently crude, invasion of their olfactory and auditory senses.

Maranda Russell I've actually been a part of this group for awhile, but never properly introduced myself. I am a foster parent and children's author. My recent ebooks include "In Memory of Dad", a sensitive story for kids age 7-14 about the loss of a loved one, and "Weezie, the Elephant with Allergies", an illustrated short story for ages 5-11 that features an elephant who wants to be adopted but ruins his chances by leaving his prospective parents in a puddle of snot. As you can imagine "Weezie" is funny and gross, but it is also a meaningful story of acceptance and unconditional love. Both ebooks are available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Smashwords.

Linda David (lindzz) | 10 comments Hi

I'm Linda and my book, The Firestone Crystal, is newly published on Kindle and soon to be available in paperback. The book is children's fantasy fiction and is aimed at 9 years and over as below:

Agathea Fulstropp is looking forward to a luxury break in the Caribbean with her parents, but is livid when they announce that the trip has to be cancelled due to work commitments! So instead of spending six weeks sunning herself on a tropical beach, Thea – as she insists on being called – finds herself unceremoniously packed up, and sent off to stay with a grandfather she barely knows for the entire summer! But it turns out to be the best summer of her life when her grandfather has a strange reunion with a mysterious childhood friend, and she is given the opportunity of a lifetime.

To visit a world beyond the stars, and become Earth’s first student to be enrolled in an experimental Inter-Planetary Education Programme at the Firestone Academy, where lessons in telepathy, mind-reading and astral projection are the norm.

Things, however, are not as straightforward as they seem. One of her fellow students makes no secret of the fact that he despises her, and will stop at nothing to make her leave…she is having increasingly disturbing, vivid dreams…and just who is that hideously deformed cave creature, and more to the point, what does it want with her?

I'm a bit late to the party, but glad to find this group.

My book, The Absolutely Amazing Adventures of Agent Auggie Spinoza, is available on the kindle.

The Absolutely Amazing Adventures of Agent Auggie Spinoza by Steven Stickler

Description:

Auggie Spinoza is a ten-year-old boy with a secret: he is a special agent who can travel through time. Now, he finds himself locked in a desperate battle against evil forces trying to change the course of history. To defeat them, Auggie must pursue a dangerous quest to find a set of mysterious clues hidden in the past.

With the help of a clever new friend and advice from a cast of famous characters with names like Jefferson, Darwin, and Plato, Auggie fights to fulfill his destiny and save his world from ruin. Along the way, he learns the importance of thinking clearly and shows the awesome power of a code-breaking, book-loving, time-traveling ten-year-old with a talent for being in the right place at the right time (and doing the right thing).

Laurie Cameron Hi,

I'm Laurie and have recently begun a blog reviewing middle grade e-books.

I am also an author of middle grade mysteries, but for now, I am just exploring the wonderful world of kids e-books published by indie authors (mostly).

Can I share the address of my blog?

Wow, where in the world has time gone? Oh, yeah...I wrote another novel in the past few months! (and will spend the next few months revising it...)

Anyway, welcome to all of you who've stopped by. If you've written a book, by all means, add it to our book shelf.

Then, come in, start a discussion, join in another, relax and enjoy!

Mark Holtzen Hi,
My name is Mark Holtzen. I am giving away my middle grade book, The Pig War, for free on Amazon Kindle this Saturday and Sunday, July 14th and 15th. When his parents send him to remote Mobray Island for a summer with his curmudgeonly grandfather, bookish Kell thinks his time is going to be a boring bust. But he and his boisterous sister Grace are quickly drawn into events from the island’s past—The Pig War of 1859. What was The Pig War? Did pigs actually fight? What if Kell and Grace are caught with the buried revolver they've uncovered? And why does their grandfather go fishing without his fishing gear? By summer’s end Kell learns that Mobray Island holds more adventure than he bargained for: shady ancestors, shadier neighbors, and even some discoveries about himself.
Thanks and spread the word. The complimentary reviews on amazon might help sell you on the book.

Serena Schreiber (serena_schreiber) | 5 comments Finn's Ship (Finn's Travels, #1) by Serena Schreiber

Hello everyone!
Filled with skateboarding, adventure and travel, may I recommend my book Finn's Ship. It appeals to kids who like a fast-moving story with realistic (not perfect!) characters. No foul language or inappropriate situations. Look for Book #2, Finn's Car, Winter 2012.

Finn has never been on a cruise ship before, much less stowed away on one. He's never impersonated a fairy tale character, sought lost treasure or gotten to know his real dad. But all that is about to change when a mysterious foreigner hands Finn his father's diary, setting him on the pursuit of a fortune in Nazi Gold and the truth about his inheritance.

Anastacia Hawkins (anastaciawrites) Love that this group is here on Goodreads! Middle grade readers are so very special, they are caught in between picture books/chapter books and the young adult novels; I believe that they deserve great stories that not only entertain them, but challenge them as well, to Love One Another, Be Courageous, Have Faith, and Stay True to Themselves.

My first middle grade novel, Larkspur, is a fantasy adventure for girls.

I am looking forward to joining in the many discussions found in this group!

message 74: by Marina (new)

Marina Maddix (marinamaddix) I have a picture-heavy easy reader series in mind. Five books with the same character. He gets lost in the first book via adventure. Each book continues the underlying theme of getting home but the primary plot will be a new adventure in each. He finally gets home in the last book.

I'm new to children's book writing, so I'm wondering if this 'cliffhanger' style is a bad idea for kids' books. Or is it better suited for older kids? Any thoughts would be welcome!

Leila (leilaboukarim) | 1 comments Hello everyone!

I recently published my first children's ebook, Thank Goodness for Different, about a little girl who is sad because she feels different. I'm also working on a series of books that are written for Highly Sensitive Children. The stories tackle issues that Highly Sensitive kids struggle with such as places that are too loud or crowded, trying out new things, interacting with other kids their own age...

I also just created my Goodreads Author Page which is quite exciting. I'm really glad to be here and I look forward to getting to know the rest of you and reading your books!

Leila.

Gwen Dandridge (gwen_dandridge) | 1 comments Hello!

Thanks for creating this group.

My middle grade book is The Stone Lions. It is the recipient of the Awesome Indies gold seal of excellence and supported by the NSF.

Here is the blurb.

In the last throes of the 14th century, Islamic Spain is under pressure from Castile and Aragon. Ara, the twelve-year old daughter to the Sultan, finds herself in the center of a political intrigue when her eunuch tutor is magically transformed by the evil Wazir. Can a little girl save her friend and tutor with the help of a Sufi mathemagician? Intertwined in a mystery of math, art and magic, Ara races to find the seven broken symmetries before time runs out. Will she succeed or will the Alhambra fall and with it all that she loves? And will the stone lions awaken in time to help her? This cross-cultural fantasy combines mystery and math to teach the geometry of symmetry
