Jozzy-bear | 3 comments Hey zeppelin, well sorry I couldn’t respond earlier, you see I don’t have internet at home I come to the library & use it here. But I don’t come very often only when my books are due. Either way your answer is worthy of a response, so here it goes- “It makes perfect sense to me, and thousands of the world's leading biologists. What bit of it exactly doesn't make sense to you? Perhaps its you that doesn't understand it.”-No, I do comprehend well, Evolution is my fav. Subject but perhaps not for the reasons you mite think. I am open to diff. views & I like to know what it is others think but I wont make a belief my own unless A) its true B) it can be proven C) it makes sense when you look at the bigger picture. Keeping dat in mind I’ll continue…”This statement makes no sense whatsoever. The theory of evolution does follow the scientific method (observation, conclusions based on empirical evidence)”- Generally a theory is scientific if it can be tested, hence following the steps of the scientific method 1)observe 2)question 3)hypothesize 4)devise a way to test the hypothesis 5)carry out test 6)analyze data gathered from the tests and aks question based on results. Not scientist nor chemicals today have been able to recreate what they belived to have happened in the beginning. “There is a word for sphere in Hebrew, and yet it wasn't used. It is likely that they believed the earth to be a flat disc. Like you said, they also believed it to be static, which we now know is false; the earth rotates around its axis and revolves around the sun.”- “The Hebrew word Chuwg means a flat-circle like a coin as you said. The Hebrew word for a sphere like a ball is Duwr.( e.i. Isaiah 22:18 uses duwr) The Hebrew language lacked a specific term for sphere as well as terminology for infinite space. The word Chuwg, as described above and as used, in context with other words in Isaiah cannot be used to prove that the Bible teaches a flat earth. Duwr is not exclusively a word for sphere. Is. 29:3 And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee. Obviously the soldier would not camp around a sphere but encircle the city.” Also when the Bible speak of ezekiel’s wheels the idea behind “wheel” seems to be that it is something revolving, as heavenly spheres where though to do. “I don't see anything about special relativity or quantum theory in the bible. Your statement is highly inaccurate, not to mention insulting to the millions of intelligent people”- Yes that would be because the Bible is no math book and was not written to teach calculus, I invite you to read it because that way you will find it had a more important msg to deliver. Insulting why? Am I not entitled to my own opinion, can I not speak my own? “which is based off a bronze age text written by old men with little or no scientific education.”- Now that is highly inaccurate read up on the apostol paul or lucas who was a doctor. Plz email your response to Oceanicrose@yahoo.com I don’t like taking up this much space here lol

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Whatevs, oh, no offence Demon, but I really hate sel-inserts, or at least the ones I have read on FF.net. You can always tell that they are a self insert if they are perfect, because we'd all rather be perfect, so strive for flawful.

message 509: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Certainly, it would. I do try to put a bit of myself in my characters, because it makes them easier to understand and get closer to. My character I'm closest to is extremely not Bella, and not like me. She helps me go to sleep at night, when I think about the scene when her son dies and she tells her future love about him.

Oh happy days, happy days.

message 510: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Ahh, so once again this calls for Flawful.

I should so name a character that... Flaufeul.

message 511: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Yes! And I could put an E at the end too.

message 512: by Opal (new)

Opal Koboi (TheAskTheAswer) | 12 comments Exactly. Meyer is convinced she is Bella (after all, she dreamed Edward up)and maybe she is also waiting for her "own Edward" like all of her obsessed fans. I wonder if she is married. I feel sad for her husband if she is.

message 513: by Opal (new)

Opal Koboi (TheAskTheAswer) | 12 comments Wow, never expected that.

message 514: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments I'm wondering how her husband reacted to the actual books themselves. Like, what was he thinking when he was reading the finished product? Obviously, even if he hated it, he wasn't going to be like "Honey, your book sucks," so I wonder what went down... o.O

I think it went something like this.

Pancho: Smeyer? uh I mean, Stephenie?

Stephenie: Yes my sparklyvampy hunny?

Pancho: I uh.. finished reading Nightlight.. uh I mean, Twilight and the other books. *tries to hide the fact that he prefers the parody than his wife's book*

Stephenie: *gets excited* ooh!! What did you think? I am very much like Bella, right?

Pancho: Uh yeah... does that also mean you based me on Edward, right?

Stephenie: NO!! *gets defensive that her fantasy man can't be her husband*

Pancho: o.o O.o o.O O.O

S: Uh I mean, yes my murmuringvelvetysparklybodded vampy :D

Pancho: So that also means that our kids are based on that mutant devil child?

S: eh?

P: I mean... Renesmee...

S: WASN'T THE NAME CUTE?!?!?! *misses out the point and the real question*

P: I ... guess..

S: I love you my *30 minutes of describing Deadward... er Pancho*

P: I love you too, Bella. *anime sweat drop*

S: :D

message 516: by Nightshade (new)

message 518: by Simona-- (new)

Simona-- I'm kind of intense (completelyinsane) | 806 comments It is. Either that or SM was having an argument with him at the moment and decided to put "Pancho" in her acknowledgements. Pancho... Pancho.. Maybe she was trying to embarrass her non-sparkly hubby?

message 519: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments Yeah, pretty much. :D :D

message 520: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Yeah, she's high. She's drugged.

RANDOM CONVERSATION I HAD WITH MY SISTER (COLLEEN) THE OTHER DAY AFTER SHE SAID SOMETHING RANDOM:

Me: Um, are you high? What is the last thing you ate, drank, smoked or smelled?
Colleen: SHARPIES!!!

Back to the conversation, I feel sorry for her husband. And you have to wonder if he likes the books or hates them. And why would anyone want to be a character from their book. That really must hurt Pancho, knowing she perfers being some stupid wimpy character who is married to a vampire than being herself, married to him.

message 521: by deliabookworm (new)

deliabookworm | 49 comments And her kids...I've read her website where she talks about writing Twilight, and she complains about how noisy her kids are and how she couldn't write during the day because they were always bugging her. I hope they're not old enough to read longer books like Twilight, because I would cry if I knew Mommy was really writing about when she kept complaining about how I was bugging her...

message 522: by deliabookworm (new)

deliabookworm | 49 comments (okay, that makes absolutely no sense.)

message 523: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments I know! I would never complain about my children, because I like noise and other things when I write. Music is wonderful, and distractions help my mind ease so I can focus and not make stupid mistakes.

I think she has like a seven year old and a twelve year old, but I'm not sure.

message 524: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments Yeah, I don't know, either. But whatever :P

I don't mind a bit of noise while I write... I mean, as long as my sister isn't screaming at me to "COME SEE THIS THING ON TV" or my mom is screaming at me to "GET TO THE DINNER TABLE NOW" or my dad is screaming at me to "COME WATCH THIS PUTT ON TV", I'm pretty much fine.

Although all three of those things happen a lot. No, Dad, I do NOT care about the four-foot putt that the golf pro missed on national television! ;P

But I like to listen to music while I write. Preferably, I'll put in my headphones and turn up the music really loud (and hope my family doesn't start yelling at me). I'll listen to whatever goes with the story, too... like depressing or happy or whatever. Or if I have writer's block, I put on hard rock and play it really loud. 8D

message 525: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments My friend has this quote: "When one has writer's block, one writes yaoi."

I am currently suffering from writer's block, I just finished the really life-changing chapter and do not know what to write next.

message 526: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments Yaoi???? :)

Heh, I hate when that happens. I was SUPER close to actually finishing a short story, then suddenly I couldn't think of an ending. Like... I knew the general idea of what I wanted, but I wasn't sure how to put it into writing without it sounding really cliché and horrible (which happens ALL THE TIME with me). >_<

I wanted a happy ending, but all I could think of was a depressing ending. ;) But I thought of it eventually! Not the best it could be, but whatever.

message 527: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Paaashaw, none of my endings are happy... okay, one. Two? Two at most. I don't know if you can consider them happy, no, maybe there's three..... It depends on your definition of happy. Like, if you consider a girl being killed by the love of her life, and then watching a cute scene where her hubby and son tell the truth happy, then three. If you consider a girl living as a leader shrouded by lies, and being UGLY happy. There's one I'm sure is happy, where the family is reunited, and they have a cute little thought thing that is so cute!!!

Do you know what yaoi is? You're confusing me...

message 528: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (babyducky) | 33 comments Geez, Rose there are many things that annoy me but one thing that i hate it went people say hubby! It sounds like fatty in a twisted way. (to me)
it makes them seem like ewwy. Cause you know husband are all hot when you marry them at first and then... then... then they are hubbies. :o

message 529: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Yeah, Brad Pitt? He looks like a hobo!

message 530: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (babyducky) | 33 comments I know! Right! He looked GREAT before now he looks like... well a hubby...

message 531: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments HOBO!

message 532: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments LOL :D

message 533: by Camille (new)

Camille (Ashera) | 47 comments I'm sure many people said it, but Bella is a shallow, clingy and needy bitch.

message 534: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments Yep, that pretty much sums it up. :)

message 535: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Hi-five! Yes? No????

Exactly, summed up her life story in five words.

message 536: by Camille (new)

Camille (Ashera) | 47 comments Hi-Five at Rose! I read the resume of the book in French, I was like wtf is this shit, I'm not reading this.

message 537: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments So basically, you had a rational person's reaction. ;D

message 538: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Yup... that's what it sounds like. I hate my English teacher so much-and she reads Twilight. So for my project I'm gonna write a rant on it... SHE'S GONNA HATE ME.

message 539: by Abby (new)

Abby (toxicsunshine) | 150 comments Reasons why I hate Bella:
1: she's bitchy.
2: she's annoying.
3: she can't protect herself.
4: she's selfish.
5: she went all zombie just because Edward left her. I mean, COME ON.
6: she's boring.
7: all she ever does is complain.
8: she's a HORRIBLE role-model.
I could go on, but I think you get the point. And I hate Kristen Stewart, too! I've seen her in other movies, like The Messengers, for example (does anyone know why the heck they called it that?), and I've just always hated her acting. And you know what really sucks? I have to go to my cousin's birthday party tomorrow, and that would be just fine, but guess what we're watching? New Moon. D:

message 540: by Mack (new)

Mack Aroney | 190 comments Someone else has probably already said this, but I hate Bella because she's such a Mary-Sue. I mean, come on, she's waaaay too perfect. And the fact that she's clumsy makes her even more cliche.

message 541: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments Bella is the DEFINITION of a Mary Sue. I mean, just look at her name- Isabella Swan?! Seriously?! I didn't think a name could be cliché, but I guess I was wrong. :P

message 542: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments Rose wrote: "Yup... that's what it sounds like. I hate my English teacher so much-and she reads Twilight. So for my project I'm gonna write a rant on it... SHE'S GONNA HATE ME."

DO IT. If she grades unfairly, you can complain to the administration. >:D

message 543: by [deleted user] (new)

Why does Bella say so much about how ugly she is, but on the first day of school all the boys fall in love with her??????

message 544: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments Exactly. "Oh, I'm so ugly, I'm so plain, I'm not pretty, I'm not hot, I'm so mediocre and crap vocabulary... oh look, all the boys here are throwing themselves at my feet. And they're uglier than I am!"

message 545: by Zoe (new)

Zoe Wiggins (ZWiggs) | 10 comments Gemma wrote: "not quite getting this.... but is it basically stephanie meyer is living vicariously through bella swan??

Dude, Twilight was based off of SM's sexual vampairic fantasy and her weird dreams :D *bricked*

message 546: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments I know! Her name, Bella, translate in beautiful. So her name means "Beautiful Swan." That's just too Mary Sue-y.

message 547: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Hadis (Ecoria) | 38 comments Nightshade wrote: "Exactly. "Oh, I'm so ugly, I'm so plain, I'm not pretty, I'm not hot, I'm so mediocre and crap vocabulary... oh look, all the boys here are throwing themselves at my feet. And they're uglier than I..."

Lol! She got tobe pretty to have so many guys liking her, but she thinks she's plain? She's got the lowest and most unreasonable self esteem in the world.

message 548: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments If she's so pretty how come Edward is one of her first relationships? She says something like that in the book, right?

message 549: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Maybe it's Edward that's the clingly one, not Bella.

message 550: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 30, 2010 11:05PM) (new)

ok, i went on to Stephanie Meyer's offical website, and some one had asked her why all the guys like bella.
This is what she said....

'Some parts of Bella's experiences are modeled after real life (my life, to be exact) in order to ground the fantasy aspects of the story in solid reality. Ironically, many of the details that are one hundred percent reality are the ones that are called into question the most (as illustrated by some of my angry Amazon reviews). In this particular case, I modeled Bella's move to Forks after my real life move from high school to college. (Personal story alert!) I mentioned in my bio that I went to a high school in Scottsdale, AZ, which is Arizona's version of Beverly Hills (picture the high school in the movie Clueless). In high school, I was a mousy, A-track wall-flower. I had a lot of incredible girlfriends, but I wasn't much sought after by the Y chromosomes, if you know what I mean. Then I went to college in Provo, Utah. Let me tell you, my stock went through the roof. See, beauty is a lot more subjective than you might think. In Scottsdale, surrounded by barbies, I was about a five. In Provo, surrounded by normal people, I was more like an eight. I had dates every weekend with lots of really pretty and intelligent boys (some of whose names end up in my books). It was quite confusing at first, because I knew there was nothing different about me.'
