Id heavily reccomend a fighter for your first character, but since you have the books(Or at least acsess to them) I guess its ok. Please post your character in the Character list group.
I've seen some questions about alignment. Figured I'd put a listing here for those not aware of the system. They're fairly self-explanatory describing morals along two axises, those being Good and Evil, the other Law and Chaos. Out of this there are nine possible alignments with one being a special case and another bearing an admonishment. The alignments are:
Lawful Good
Lawful Neutral
Lawful Evil
Neutral Good
True Neutral
Neutral Evil
Chaotic Good
Chaotic Neutral
Chaotic Evil
In 1st edition AD&D, True Neutral was reserved solely for the druid considering their concern with "balance" in the cosmos. In play, some characters, especially powerful wizards may adopt a neutral alignment simply from an academic standpoint. Unless Angus differs, btb only druids can be True Neutral.
The admonishment comes in with dealing with the CN alignment. It takes an experienced player to run this alignment properly. Too many simply treat it as a license to kill and they run either CE or just insane. If you're going to run a CN character, put some real thought into his mores.
Hope this helps.

So far we have
Half Orc Cleric
Half Elf Fighter
Half Elf Fighter
Elf Theif
Human Mage
So maybe a ranger, paladin, or another cleric or druid would be a good bet.

I do the roll 4d6 method and pick 3 highest. If you dont get the stats for the pally you can just bump up your highest stats the minimun for your class. I am open to UA, Dont own it though.
Cam I use a Character Generator to make my character? :)
