look u are both correct.

1. Hyena is scared of the lion but, at the same time Hyena really don't go only where they go...they are like wolves they are like a pack so they tag team

2. Lion is very vicious animal knows it can take down a lot of animal alone. so, At time they are a lone. Lions do have very strong fangs and claws.

So, if a lion is a lone and they hyena is in a pack the hyena will win

but, one on one it will be a very close game
