Another cool cross off rule for next time might be highest shelves per book ratio (like Sandy in message 211: 249 shelves with 16 books = 15.5; or Kate in message 202: 200 shelves with 7 books = 28.6...wow, yes, I am a math nerd). It would favor people with less books who probably need more help.
Okay, Marla, help the math-marginalized. I think I get your idea, but you'll have to explain how that would help someone who isn't the usual shelf winner? I've had a long day and my brain is incapable of processing exactly who this would benefit. We did the whole "person with the most change" thing because the same people were getting the extra shelves over and over. So I'm all for new ways to dole out extra cross-offs.

I think that the best ratio would reward people who are reading books just for the shelf count and the more books you read to get the tougher shelves, the lower your ratio is going to be, so it's kind of like the most improved, but more complicated.
