I started the series the summer before 4th grade, so 9 years old. I loved the first book and proceeded to read all of them over the course of about 2 months. My mom didn't let me watch any of the movies until after I read the whole series.

I don’t know for certain. I think I was around 22. I struggled with reading when I was younger, and it put me off trying. My mum suggested I try Harry Potter. It was so easy and enjoyable to read and it really helped me start reading again as an adult.

Ooh, so you are fresh in the experience! Welcome, new Potterhead! Have you been sorted yet? And I highly recommend checking out the Fantastic Beasts franchise as well! It refreshes Potterheads' excitement and is a new passion for Potterheads! ;)
Hello! I first read HP in 2nd grade, which was in 2008 (many, many moons ago). Once I picked up the first one, I couldn't stop!
I read HP in 2nd grade too!! Reading it for the first time was so exciting and sometimes I wish I could go back in time just to experience it all over again

It would be so great to have that initial experience again! I remember reading it along side my friends, completely wrapped up in this magical world that I desperately wanted to be a part of.
I read it in 2013, when I was 9 years old at the time. Fast forward to age thirteen, little's changed!
In 6th grade for the first time I was reading a novel - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and since then I have been into book reading and JK Rowling's magical world.
I read HP for the first time in second grade, and it’s amazing how after each time you read you pick up more and love the story and the characters even more. The first time I read them, I was so innocent and it was very black and white to me, but now I can see the nuances that make it a book for all ages.
Yes!!! There are so many complex characters and situations that it’s a different experience every time you read the books!! Also, it’s so fun to pick up on the subtle foreshadowing that you totally miss the first time
My two older siblings read them before me and I couldn't wait to read them. My twin and I fought over who would read them first, and she won. We had two copies of Sorcerer's Stone and I finished it before her and the finished the series before her. I was probably around 8, so maybe 2011? I don't exactly remember when it was. I read them before I could see the movies; Dad said book first then movie. I'm so glad he did, otherwise I would have missed so much. And I can't believe people have not read the books because why would you want to miss out on Peeves?!
I was 12, give or take one year. At that time there were the first 4 books released. After that I read the remaining 3 books immediately after they hit my local market, translated into my native tongue. I couldn't read English back then yet, so I had to wait.
I started reading the series in 2015, I think, and I'm just now almost to Book 5. I wasn't interested in them when they first came out but now, as an adult, I'm very invested in the series. I have seen all of the movies, most of them several times, and I own most of them as well. However, I don't own all the books and check them out from the library. I haven't found an affordable set of the edition I like the most but when I do, I'd like to purchase. I hope to read the books to my son some day.
I read the first one at, like, six, but my mom told me I had to wait because it was "Dark". I read the fifth at ten, finishing the entire book the same day! I could not stop reading, and the day after I asked for the sixth. Years later, I have read the entire series at the least 60 times. Literally. I read at least one a week.
I actually saw all the films before I started reading the series a couple years ago. Loved the movies and am enjoying the books now. I'm currently on Order of the Phoenix! I go between reading the physical books to listening to the audiobooks by Jim Dale.
I was 5-6 years old when I read the first book took me almost a whole year to read it! Before, and after that my mum would read it out loud to my sister and me. Been hooked ever since.

I first read Harry Potter a few years ago when I was 9. I must have read the series like 70-100 times already!
I grew up by watching the movies. Then when I was around 11 years old I started listening to the audiobooks for the first 4 books, but It wasn’t until I was 14 or 15 that I actually read the actual books. Loved every bit of it, and still to today ❤️

Yeah, I have WAY too much time, Lol.
Yeah, I have WAY too much time, Lol.
I read them when I was 8 and since then I've read the whole series 15 times because it is the greatest thing ever!!
It IS the greatest thing ever isn't it?
I watched the first film just before I turned eight and then I read the first book as soon as I finished watching it. Behold, the start of a bond that will last for eternity...
At 15 because the first thing I did was watch the movie. In the end I read them also in english so I'd understand it better.

Help me... please I have only a few lines which I have to transcribe for British standard usage of language..
I shall be happy so..
Well, i read it in 2018. I was 12 then. Since then, I read the whole series around 6-7 times. I'm a huge fan. And, no I didn't watch all the movies. Only second part of 7th is left.
I read them when I was 11. I read them while I was watching the movies. Of course I read them in order! I would never read them any other way.
I read them when I was 12. The best decision I've taken in my life, till date. They were my escape from the world because I had changed schools at that time. I had already watched all the movies before reading though. But. Of course, reading them was so much better
