I checked the first book out when I was in college, bur never made the time... finally read them after a few years passed. Now I'm reading them aloud to my class- many saw the movies but never read the books, and I wanted them to have that opportunity. We're on Year 3 now.

I tried reading it in 2nd grade, and I was not patient with it (only read 1st two chapters). During the summer b/w 6th and 7th grade the Goblet of Fire was on TV. It seemed interesting and I decided that I would try it again. I read the first one really quickly, and continued with the rest of them. I immediately became obsessed. :) (And obviously still am)

I don't really remember...around 4-5th grade maybe? I always enjoyed Harry Potter, it was the only book that kept me reading whole day.
I got the first book for my 6th birthday and at first, my mum read it to me. And then I read the next books as they were coming out. I'm happy to say I was able to grow up with Harry (:
HP fans! vote Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Award 2012 for the Favorite book and movie.

I first saw the third movie and remembered it vividly. I then bought it on DVD, along with films 1 and 2. I've seen every movie ever since. I read the series age eight or nine, after I had seen up as far as the fifth film, I think. I <3 HP forever. :D
I just started reading the books (as of February this year). I found a copy of the Goblet of Fire in the middle of the road.I started to read it however decided I'd start from the beginning, so I picked the first three up at the library...Now I own all but the Deathly Hallows.
When I was 13 years old. One summer morning I got bored and borrowed HP1 from my sister's boyfriend. After reading, I got addicted and obsessed and borrowed/bought the rest of the books. The Harry Potter series are the ones who really made reading a super duper obsession and passion of mine. :)) All hail to HP.
Haha cool. I think I've already commented on this but I said that I had heard of them but I wanted to see what all the fuss about it was. So when I was 12 I got the books for Christmas and I got addicted to them. So then I got the first 6 DVDs for my birthday and now I have all the books and all the DVDs and I LOVE them. :) hehe
I started reading the first one when I was 5 but I got bored and picked it up again when I was 6. I got up to the goblet of fire that year.
I believe I read the first book in elementary school when it came out, or a short time after that it came out. I don't really remember.
I read Chamber of Secrets on my own for the first time when i was seven. Couldn't read when the first one came out in '99.
1998. My brother was reading it, and my mom was not happy, so got me wondering about it, then I picked it up. Haven't put it down since.
Whoa, I remember it was my sister who got the philosopher's stone. I didn't know about it before, my father read somewhere in a review and it tells that it's good so he bought her. She was 15 and I was 11, she like it but not become super and hyper a potterhead like me. First time read it when I was 11 and I just can't stop, I miss my childhood life. I still remember the first time I open the book, now I'm 21 but I still can't get over with the whole series! ;D
Well, I wasn't even born when the book came out. I was either 1 or 2 when the movie came out, so I would watched the movie. I think I watched One, Two, Three, four, five and six before i read the book.
I was only two when my mom started using the Philosopher's Stone to teach my 6 year old sister to read. I remember them taking turns reading it out loud to me. When I started reading that was the first chapter book I read, I started it on my 7 birthday and finished it a week later. I've always read stupidly fast, still do.
I remember watching the first movies very well. I was still too young to read the subtitles (I could read very well, but not that fast), so we watched the first two movies in Dutch. I was so disappointed when we saw the prisoner of Azkaban, because Daniel's voice was not what 'my Harry' sounded like. Two and a half years ago our substitute for English told me I should read Harry Potter in English because I liked reading in English so much. I told him I would never read such thing because I thought the books would be childish, but then I felt really guilty because he was really nice and he looked quite hurt, so I read them anyway and I loved them. I read all the books in a week.
I read the first Harry Potter book at Christmas 2002, when I was six years old. I have a photo of me sitting in the middle of the lounge, with my new puppy on my lap, reading my new Harry Potter book. Since then I have read all the books at least 20 times, and watch the movies just as much or more.Deathly Hallows made me cry so much, the book and the movie - love Snape, and love Alan Rickman as Snape!!! (and in any other movie :D ).
Love everyone else in Harry Potter as well. :)
It was the summer before 4th grade, and I was nine. I had absolutely no clue what Harry Potter was about, but I'd had the box set of books 1-3 for awhile, courtesy of good ol' mom. I picked up the 1st book out of curiousity and the rest was history.Since then, I've never missed a midnight book or movie release. Harry Potter is quite the treasure.
I first started reading Harry Potter when I was six, but the beginning was a bit too dull for me, so I dropped it. When the first movie was released I decided to try it again (It is my firm believe one should never watch the movie first). I was 7 years old and I quite simply couldn't figure out what my six years old self thought to stop reading it XD
I think Harry was my first and most prominent book crush.
I read books one to four then and had to wait for books five, six and seven, which I've read in the month of their release.
I own all the books both in my language and in English~
I first read them when I was eleven or twelve (ironic, huh?) and in the past three years, I have read the intire amazingly incredible series a grand total of fifteen times.
I am a "late bloomer" when it comes to reading the HP series. I was one of those people who didn't want to read it just because everyone else did. I watched the movies and decided that since they were saying how close the movies were to the books, I would enjoy them. I fell in love with J.K. Rowling's world. it is indeed magical!
When I was in second grade. I had to practically beg my parents to read it because they thought I wouldn't understand it.
I didn't find Harry Potter too interesting at first, I used to think it definitely isn't for me... my mother had already bought me the first book just to hear me telling her I won't read it. But I did, one day I just picked up that book and even though I was really young (can't remember my age for sure, 7-9 I'd say) and had just found my interest into this reading hobby, I was able to really appreaciate the work Rowling did with the book. I fell in love with the book and all those characters, and just a bit later, I fell in love with the series.I read all the books in order, making sure I never watch the movie before reading the book first. This serie was what really made me keep reading, it was - sort of - my first love.
Actually when I was 9 or 10 (in 4th grade) I picked up Chamber of Secrets and was so confused that I said I hated it and gave up. The next year I had an HP obsessed teacher (we were sorted into houses and everything) and we started reading from the beginning and ended up loving it :P
I read the entire series at the age of 36. My kids wanted to read them, so I had to read them first. Now I read the books to my kids!
My mum had read it when I was about 8, and she tried getting me to read it. I tried, but I couldn't get into the flow of the book despite the fact that I was an avid reader. After much urging (or what she calls encourgement), I picked it up age 9, and became a Potterhead very quickly.
My little sister (9 years old) is currently reading them and she's speeding through it really fast. She's a big fan now, too.

When I was 11 my parents gave me the book as a Christmas present, and after that I became addicted to Harry Potter books, the first book is still my favorite book.
I don't know why but I was totally anti-Harry Potter even though I hadn't read the books or watched the movies. About two years ago I actually decided to read the books-that was the best decision I ever made! I kept on trying to read the whole series, but never managed to finish it till this year! Now I've watched the movies too! I wish I read them earlier because now there are no more movies or books to come.
I tried reading it many times when I was little but I was way too young and it was a bit too difficult for me to read all of them. The first time I actually read an entire Harry Potter book was when I was 11 and we had The Philosopher's Stone for school.
I read the first book when I was really little. I can barely remember that. I read about one or two chapters of Sorcerer's Stone. I read the whole series when I was about 9-10. I read it in a week.
Read it the first year it came out! Kinda cool cuz we own a first edition :>) I had to send away to England to get our copy. I had read a little blurb about it in a magazine and it sounded like the kind of book my daughter would love. It was the days waaaaaaaay before the Internet, so I had to find the phone number of a bookshop in England (I called Harrods and asked them) and then track it down from bookseller to bookseller.
few months ago. After watching the las movie in the cinema and falling in love with this world of magic. At first, I didn't want to watch the movie I never watched before a HP movie and I didn't like it. But my friend convinced me because it was watching that or other shitty movies, and I finally said yes. It's funny because now she has to stand me all day talking about HP and she is not a fan so... I'm so saaad because when it finished I discovered it. It really changed my life and I wish I had watched or read it before. Everything in my live would have been very different :(
I started reading it when I was 19 about 12 years ago. When I picked up the first book I never thought I would love it as much as I did. I thought oh this is a kids book it will be okay but I won't love it. I was soooo wrong. It is now my favorite series of books ever.
I was in fifth grade...I was in desperate need for a book, so I headed to my sister's room to take one from her bookshelf. I couldn't find one that interested me, until my mom pulled out Harry Potter. At first I didn't want to read it because 'I didn't want to be a nerd'. I read it anyways. On character dress up day at school, I was Hermione. I had the full out Hogwarts attire, and I had no shame. Long story short, I became obsessed, and declared myself a proud Potterhead. (and a proud nerd as well)
