I Am Number Four
I wish he'd have put Six in earlier. I felt like we barely got a chance to see her before the book ended :SBut I bet she'll be in THE POWER OF SIX (you know, because of the name!)
I agree on both counts. She was just chucked in at the end, and it seemed like she was just there to show how unprepared John was. She was better than him in every way, but you didn't get to know her, even though I would have liked to. If Six isn't in the Power of Six, I will be very confused and disappointed. It's possible they're referring to six as the number, but if you count, that would still mean Six is in it.
I thought the book over all was great! I loved the Sarah/John romance, it was so cute! And I would have liked to see more of Six, too.
I really enjoyed the book, even though it's not my usual genre. What do you think is up with the second ship and the elders?
Oh, I know! I was tearing up when Henri died even though I'd figured out that he was going to die after he went to Athens. And then him having to leave Sarah was really sad. I want a happy reunion for them when the wars are all over. I really hope the authors don't kill their romance. Or them, for that matter.
Hahaha, you mod title made me laugh. :)Anyways, I would, too. That's like, an insult to all adorable literary relationships, getting rid of theirs. But authors do that sometimes. And it makes me sad.
It really does. I mean, we "fall in love" with these couples (you know what I mean), and we are like, "Awww, they're so cute. What a great match!" And then, BAM! next book comes around and the author is like, "Sidenote! Yeah, that couple you loved? They broke up for a REALLY dumb reason."
I concur, Amber. It was a bit depressing, and kind of abrupt too. Like, Whoa, we're obviously done now. ;D
And what do you guys think about the POWER OF SIX cover?
I agree Amber! The ending was so upsetting. Henri was my favorite character, and he died :'(
Plus, Sarah and John were SO cute together, and he left :(
On the Power of Six note, has anyone seen the blurb?
'They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They tried to catch Number Four in Ohio and failed.
I am Number Seven. One of six still alive.
And I'm ready to fight.'
My thoughts are the remaining six are going to unite and kick Mogodorian butt!
How much page time do you think John and the gang are going to get? Do you think they will still be the focus?
Unfortunatley, I think it will be like Westerfield's Extras. The focus will be on new character, where as the old characters will just be supporting roles :(

I read it not too long ago, so I'll throw in my two cents every once in a while.★ Jessica ★ wrote: "I agree Amber! The ending was so upsetting. Henri was my favorite character, and he died :'( "
Honestly, from the time we met Henri, I was expecting him to die. The mentor nearly always dies.

Most likely. It does give the author a chance to write a new character, though. There's only so much you can write in first person of one character. (Imagine the entire Harry Potter series, from Harry's point of view only. Bleh.)
The Power of Six cover is a little.....odd. I'm not sure whether or not I like it.With Henri dying, I knew it was going to happen, but that doesn't mean I liked it. At least Bernie Kosar didn't die. I would have been really upset about that. Speaking of which, John seriously didn't notice something up with him? When your dog can run 70 mph and disappear, that's not normal. I don't know if the authors thought they were being subtle, but they weren't.
Back to Power of Six. I think Number 7 will be the main character (when are they all going to get names? they had to have them when they were on Lorien) but we will definitely see plenty of John, Six, and probably even Sam and Sarah. I hope even Sam and Sarah. Sam is just awesome, and John's relationship with Sarah is one of the only love stories in books that doesn't make me want to throw up. (AKA that I like) It's realistic/believable, but still really cute and fairytale like. If they break up, there'd better be a really good reason.
There would be no good reason for Sarah and John to break up, unless one of them died. And that would just make me mad.I also think Number Seven will be the focus of The Power of Six, but at the same time, I have the feeling that all of the Loric will be together at some point. And I'm hoping it's early enough in the book that we can meet everyone, unlike when we met Six in this book. But if that is true, we'll see Six, John, Sam and Bernie Kosar/Hadley at least for a while.
I am a little bummed that this isn't coming from John's perspective, though/
I think it's called the Power of Six because it's the six Loric kids (and possibly some Cepans) coming together. We might not meet all of them until the end, but we'll definitely meet them all. I have the feeling it will be toward the middle. I hope Sarah and Sam don't just stay memories from Paradise, but actually play into the book.

I kind of get the feeling that Sarah may be axed, and that after a period of brokenheartedness, Four will wipe his eyes and wipe his nose and turn his attention to Six... that's what I thought after the book ended.
I would have liked him being with Six, if Sarah hadn't existed. But yeah, the whole bit about Loriens and getting married and stuff, and now we've got a love triangle? That's non-sequential, Jobie Hughes and James Frey!
They tried to pass it off by saying that it only works with Lorics, but that didn't make sense to me. And honestly, it feels more like he and Six would be siblings than lovers.
I would agree, Amelia, even though I don't want to. Did anyone else think Six was the one Henri mentioned, who they would joke that Four would fall in love with in the future when they were on Lorien?
Yes, that's exactly what I thought. I don't know if we were supposed to or not, but I totally felt that. And yeah, I agree about how he should have been with Six if Sarah hadn't existed. Which she did.
Since he's lived his whole life on Earth, I wouldn't be surprised if he loved Sarah like he would love a Loric.
Yeah, the battle was my least favorite part.
I thought it was an epic climax for the sake of an epic climax. Im not sure what I didnt like about it though? I cant find any flaws, no matter how hard I think about it-but I still wasnt pleased with it.
Maybe because it just started.
Y'know, there was very little build up. Things are happening and then BAM! THE MOGODORIANS ARE HERE AND WERE ALL GONNA DIE!
Thats how it felt for me.
I know the whole novel was kind of build up for that, but it could have been executed more smoothly.
Does that make sense?

The battle was odd. Lots of different fatal events happening at once.I think the problem is that it was kind of disjointed; it didn't fit together or with the rest of the book.
The ending was really fast, but still pretty climactic. It will make for an awesome special-effects scene in the movie :)
I really, really hate to break the flow of compliments, but did anyone else think the languege was a little repetitive? I mean, I think he got given a 'lingering kiss' at least five times.
Taliah wrote: "I really, really hate to break the flow of compliments, but did anyone else think the languege was a little repetitive? I mean, I think he got given a 'lingering kiss' at least five times."That's a good point.
The ending happend really fast (plus was kinda depressing) and Taliah is right there were phrases that got repeated alot :/. It was a pretty good story though :)
ok this book is one of my new favourits but the ending was waaay to sad whyd henry have to die i was so deprest and yeah what was the story for six i feel she just suddunly came out of no where but overall the book was great.and in the beginig there was somthing about one of them dieng was that foure and is there a sequall for this book????
After a week of slacking and being sick from school, I finally power-read through 250 pages of the book. The book wasn't bad, at all, but I thought to took a while to speed itself up. The beginning is pretty slow, to me at least, and there are some fast paced parts as the story progresses. The ending, however, was excellent. I couldn't stop reading.
I am really looking forward to more books in the series.
I loved the book but felt like it was ended on a cliffhanger, I also would've loved to hear more about the other numbers, but on the whole a great read :D can't wait to see the film now.
I usually don't like cliffhanger endings, but this one wasn't so bad. It has enough of a end to believe the book is wrapped up, but then, at the same time, the book is entirely open for the author to do what ever.
Shayma wrote: "ok this book is one of my new favourits but the ending was waaay to sad whyd henry have to die i was so deprest and yeah what was the story for six i feel she just suddunly came out of no where but..."Obviously Four didn't die at the beginning since the rest of the book's about him. That was Number Three.
the climax was really good but for some reason it just didnt feel right. maybe coz it just happened or maybe coz there were too many things going on.
I would have liked more info on Number Six. I wanted to know where she's been for the past years, how her cepan died and all of that stuff...
Is #6 the one they talk about in the book that was in South America and that she helped some guy out of ruble?
Um...maybe? maybe not? It was never specified, I don't think.
Okay, this may be a bit of a silly question but: why did the Lorien kids have to be hunted down? Couldn't the Mogodorians just let them stay hiding on Earth for the rest of their lives? This confused me. Help!

I think the mogodorians were just ruthless enough to want to wipe out the entire Lorien race. They took the time to wipe out their planet, might as well kill the remaining 18 on Earth. Also, if the mogodorians wanted to take over Earth, then maybe they didn't want the remaining Loriens getting in the way.
They were afraid the remaining Lorics would do exactly what they were trying to do–repopulate Lorien, take it back from the Mogodorians, and try to save Earth while they were at it.I want to know more about Number 6 as well. Hopefully that comes in the next book, but I feel like it would have worked better if we had more time with her at the end of this one.
hmmm...i want to get to know her better. i reckon they'll definitely have something in the next book.
@frank- i think that it mentioned that Six stayed in the USA but im not sure. she could have moved after her Cepan died and she was trying to find the others. but i dont think that she was the one in South America because when John went to save Henri he found the paper which said that Nine was being trailed in South America.

I liked it, but I was confused by the cover. It says by Pitticus Lore. In the book Henri was saying that Pitticus Lore was like an elder and I Am Number Four was written in first person. So I am REALLY confused.
In the cover of the book (some where) it 'explains' that Pitticus Lore is some secret/under-cover person explaining #4's story. Even though it's in first person of #4.However, Pitticus Lore is a pen name for James Frey and Jobie Hughes. Yes, the book was written by two authors. Not someone known as Pitticus Lore.
