Deleting an Author

Is it possible to delete an author? There are two profiles for one author. One of them has no data, but the other one is a complete profile. The spellings are the only differences. Is it possible to delete the fake profile?

You can merge the authors by changing the spelling of the incorrect author to match exactly the spelling of the correct author listing. I'm not sure what happens to the author listing with no data. I thought they eventually were deleted (that it was a caching issue) but I am not completely sure about that. Someone from the Goodreads staff would have to answer that question.

I think they're supposed to eventually disappear from the database, but I have tended to purposefully merge them away because sometimes they seem to get stuck for awhile.
