message 5: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 867 comments You're good with years too? LOL! It is so interesting to see everyone's taste in movies.

It's okay Davina. Just add more as you remember them.

message 6: by Davina, The Modster (new)

Davina D. | 693 comments Mod
I only remember the years because I cut and pasted from the "Greatest Film of the Decade" thread. But yeah, usually when I do lists like these I like to add the year for my own reference and so they're easier to find if people want to see them.

message 7: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 867 comments I guess that makes sense. I'm just lazy. It would be great for me to have done that since I have some throwbacks in there. I love older movies but I do realize they remade a lot of them.

message 8: by Davina, The Modster (new)

Davina D. | 693 comments Mod
I have sooo many throwbacks, but obviously they're not on my list because I can't remember them! This group is gonna help me keep track of my movies just like Goodreads help me keep track of my books! :)

Michelle Gilmore Samantha wrote: "I love the Color Purple and The Coal Miner's Daughter. Is it bad that I sing along with Sissy? LOL!"

Definitely not! I even bought the soundtrack as a gift my sister-in-law one year, LOL!

message 10: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 867 comments OMG! Now that's funny Michelle. I get deep too and I have a bad voice so its really comical.

message 11: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Gilmore LOL! I've decided to start collecting the soundtrack for all my favorite movies. I'm sure I'll be getting on everybody's nerves very soon!

Has anyone seen Unfaithful with Richard Gere & Diane Lane? It's one of my favs and it has an excellent sound track.

There's a song in the movie by Ali Farka Toure (I'm sure I've messed the guy's name up, but its close) and man, best 'get in the mood' song ever. I strongly recommend it! :)

message 13: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 867 comments I love that movie Davina! I have to look into the soundtrack b/c it's been a long time since I seen the film.

message 14: by Davina, The Modster (new)

Davina D. | 693 comments Mod
Sam, if you don't get to hear the entire soundtrack check out that one song. It's absolutely amazing!

Well yeah. Geez. I am a Sag. Lol. Actually, when I booze up its a good sign. That means I'm back on goodreads. I'm watching M*A*S*H* right now. Anyone still watches this?

message 28: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 867 comments I hate that show Brenda. It is one of my top hated tv shows of all time. Actually it is my top, follow by Murder She Wrote. I cringe.

message 29: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Samantha wrote: "I hate that show Brenda. It is one of my top hated tv shows of all time. Actually it is my top, follow by Murder She Wrote. I cringe."

Lol samantha. Look at the original air date and it's STILL Airing! To each his own. What is it that you Don't Like? Is it the lack of truth with the War? Just curious. Excuse caps and typos I'm on my e_reader.

message 30: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 867 comments Haha! That show will never stop airing as far as I'm concern. I just never got into it. Maybe its my weird taste but whenever we hear that theme song in our house, we rush to turn the channel. LOL. But a lot of people love that show.

message 31: by Brenda (new)

Brenda I'm one that loves it lol. It was one of the first shows I saw in my teen years when we first got a tv. Maybe that's where I ended up liking it so much. :p

My dad - may he rest in peace - used to like M*A*S*H. I would watch it with him when we were having our quality time, but I wouldn't say I'm this major fan. It's certainly a very durable show! How long has been around, since the 50s, 60s?

message 33: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Metz | 40 comments I never liked it either. I know it had a really popular run for a while, but I never really could get into it. Something about it just seemed crass to me.

message 36: by Michael (new)

Michael (mikedecshop) I almost started a discussion on this very subject but decided to look first because it had to be here.

Any and all Hitchcock repeated viewings including The Trouble with Harry.

The Godfather (natch I'm a guy and Italian
Ben Hur silent as well as Heston
Sixth Sense threw me for a loop
Frankenstien, Dracula, The Wolfman etc. just gotta love those old Universal pics
OK OK The wizard of Oz
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Any and all Akira Kurasowa films again repeated viewings
King Kong the original only
The Thing from Outer Space
Any and all Ray Harryhausen

Sabrina actually both versions the perfect romantic comedy.
To Kill a Mockingbird book as well
No country for old men
Pulp Fiction
Kill Bill Volume 1 Volume 2 was OK
Eraserhead because the images haunt me

more to follow at a later date

message 37: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 867 comments I love Sabrina! Sixth Sense threw me too when I had saw it. I love The Wizard of Oz. Watch it every year along with The March of The Wooden Soldiers (Babes in Toyland). I love that!!! You can't tell me Laurel and Hardy weren't funny. LOL.

message 38: by Michael (new)

Michael (mikedecshop) A comedy team that irritated the hell out of me but still made me laugh.

message 39: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 867 comments I can understand. They won't appeal to everyone. I actually liked Laurel more. Hardy always felt a bit more forced with comedic abilities and I don't like that.

The TV show M*A*S*H ran from 1972-1983.

I love that show. The best comedy I've seen. The movie isn't as great, but it's good, too. I especially love the film version of the theme song.
