I know, it's only been a few months ago I said it would be a few years until I started pointe...but...my dance teacher wants me to start! I'm so thrilled. My recital is in late June and we are going to do one dance as pointe for the recital. It's 2 of my friends I dance with that are getting them too. One did today but my mom has a bad attitude about it. She doesnt even think I want to dance at the same studio next year since I'll be at a new school! Thats not true, I love dance and would never quit the studio I'm at. Since one of the girls got them, the other girl and I have to, but I know something will happen and i won't get them til later.. :/ So any pointe tips? (I know this is a safe site so I'm saying this) I'm only 13 and wear a size 5. I have a kids shoe in ballet so I think that's a 3 i wear. I have 5 in tap.

Pointe help... Try on all kinds of pointe shoes to find which ones you luv the best... do a few releves (spelling???) to see if they don't hurt your toes that much... in pointe class whatch yourself in the mirror to see if you get up on your box all the way... i have capezio contempras right now and i luv them, maybe you should try them too. if you need anymore help just ask, and tell me how you like you first class!
the people at the dance store that i bought them from
have fun on pointe!!! tell me how you like it... i have pointe class 2marrow!
thx, when is your first pointe class?
OMG!! In Michigan there got like a FOOT of snow overnight !!!! I don't have school today!
I GOT MY SHOES! I got them on Wednesday cuz I was off. Lotsa snow in Baltimore! I forgot the brand name but I got a size 3 1/2 with colorful toe pads and lambs wool (or is it sheeps wool?) Tomorrow I'm going to my dance studio and my teacher will tell me where to sew the elastic and ribbon. I can kinda dance in them ; i"ve been breaking them in and i can do spins and stuff
lotsa snow here too. I didn't get colorful toe pads, :( mine are tan.
thats soo cool, im going to have to get those next time!
Another thing about pointe-
1) GET TAPE!!! The tape would be for when you get blisters! (My mom, when she did pointe never got blisters, no fair) It doesn't matter what kind of tape, I use the kind of tape you put on walls when you paint (but it's tan). The brand BunHeads makes tape for when you do pointe. But it's $$$$.
Thats all... have fun dancing on your toes!!

I already know how to do chane's (spelling??) I'm getting really good. My teacher said "I'm a natrual!
no it's tan. i couldn't think of the name. sorry
good! if u could video tape it and send it to me it would be really cool!! i had my recital in early june...
its ok, i hope you did good!!! :)))
Ok so I heard you are becoming a Pointe Dancer I have been one for 3 years then this year I fractured 2 bones and broke another my doctor said I wouldn't be able to dance for a wile or maybe never again my heart was broken when I told my dance teacher she said she new I could still do it she says my feet are amazing and she wishes she had them (strange huh I thought that dancers feet were UGLY (from all the blisters and the beating you constantly give them)and I think she was the one who told me that) so now I have started dancing again but on my own having to work an rises and of course my ton-due considering where I hurt my foot so I haven't yet been able to go on pointe but I know I will soon but the problem was that in this time not only did I break my foot but I also moved from Nebraska to Oklahoma so now I have to find a new dance teacher I mean what teacher wants a student who may never be able to do pointe again though I really hope my doctor was wrong:( but I am young I'm only 14 so It's not impossible but as many dance related injuries as I have acquired over the years it a miracle that I can still dance. so good luck and if you ever have any pointe questions just ask and I would be more than happy to answer them no matter what they may concern oh and by the way what kind of shoe did you get I have canvas also known as a studio shoe because of my feet they are capizio (MY FAVORITE)
i have bloch but they dont fit me well they are ment for people who have regular feet and i have narrow feet so they are wide. Yeah, i feel bad for you. Almost the same happened to me. I twisted both of my ankles and hurt my right knee and at first it was really hard for me to dance but my dance teacher helped me and that was really nice.
Ya I think I will still be able to dance but my future as a pointe dancer is looking sad my feet hurt so bad to go on pointe
One of my feet (left) is really weak in pointe. My right foot is stronger and whenever I do a releve on one foot I need to be really careful. Does anyone have any tips?
Do alot of rises when your brushing your hair, eating a sandwich, standing in line, etc...... basically whenever you have a chance. that's what I had to do I had the same exact problem and you don't have to do the rises on pointe. Oh and when I did that I usually did 20 on each foot with the other in passe or coupe (or however that is spelled) and 20 on both. Hope it helps it helped me alot.
I have red ballet shoes :P I dont know where you can get coloured Pointe shoes but I'll loo on the internet for you.
I'm sorry Elizabeth.. I can't find any coloured Pointe although I did find royal blue soft ballet shoes and bronze Pointe. (: Good luck with finding them.
I started ballet on pointe and I love it, although it hurts and is sometimes frustrating when you're at the barre. also i get blisters easily, I had pointe class yesterday, and my feet still hurt SO badly!!
Im starting pointe this year and am freaking out!!! does it hurt? are the shoes uncomfortable? plese respond and give me any advice or tips on pointe and the shoes. thanks.

Toe pads and lambs wool will help. If your prone to getting blisters on your feet, tape the spots were you normally get blisters. Hope this helps!
