And I LOVE the new BBC show Sherlock, too!

AHHH! You have a Tardis picture avatar thingie! I also got into Sherlock Holmes pretty recently, after the 2009 movie came out.

Oh, I wish I saw "The Great Mouse Detective" when I was younger! I just saw it for the first time a few months ago. I can just imagine myself obsessed with Holmes as a kid.

Hello Jackson! I am obsessed too. Every thought is of Sherlock Holmes. My friends think I'm crazy.
what I just wrote is kinda scary. sorry :(
what was the psychology paper about?

I also can't wait for the second season of BBC's Sherlock :D

hello to you. and yes i am waiting anxiously for the new bbc series to start back up. :D

Glad to meet you (though secretly envious that you two live in England.)
Kat I too take my time Reading Sherlock. I finally bought a Complete Collection and leave it continually on my Currently-Reading shelf.

I came across Sherlock Holmes' world when I was a child, we had 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' as a lecture and I loved every second of it, to be honest at the time, I sided with the Hound, even now I have a weakness for it.
Then I got back into the Sherlock Holmes world, one year ago, devouring the books all over and seeing the, in the proper light they were meant.
Now, I'm so obsessed my home and life seem to be a shrine for all Holmesian things. And I have to admit, I do so love applying his methods...not that it always works, but when it does, I think I literally glow with glee.
Hello everyone. My name is Charlie', I'm 19 years old and I'm from Portugal.
I became acquainted with Sherlock Holmes when I was about twelve, since my mum's got almost every SACD book and as some of the younger members, I have also watched "The Great Mouse Detective" as a child. The first Holmes adventure I read was "The Hound of the Baskervilles" and that's still my favourite! Since then, I think I have read the entire adventures except for "A Study In Scarlet". I am loving the BBC series and can't wait for the new episodes!
What else can I say? I'm addicted to english literature classics such as Jane Austen, Oscar Wilde, et cetera and, of course, I also love Agatha Christie's novels. I am currently studying Archaeology at the University of Lisbon and would love to go for a major on English Studies when I'm done.
Cheers.

Flavia: My house also looks like a Holmesian Shrine. I am an entire wall taken up with drawings of Holmes that drawn. I would consider it embarassing except for the fact that I love it in every single way.
Charlie: When I was a kid I wanted so badly to be an archaeologist! Then I discovered that maybe I just had a crush on Indiana Jones.
Michael: 1963? So jealous! What do you do at Mensa's Holmesian Studies scion?

Joanna, I am also in my twenties and just moved from NorCal to CO. Hoping to get back to Cal in the near future! Thanks for putting the group together :)

Also a Jane Austen reader - launched our web site with a 3 part blog - "Did Sherlock Holmes Read Jane Austen".
Favorite Holmes film? I sort of like "Murder By Decree"
Favorite traditional Holmes - Jeremy Brett
Favorite young Holmes - James d'Arcy

So many people have joined since I was last here. Welcome!
Alexis, my best friend friend and my boyfriend are obsessed with Doctor Who. We have parties where we watch entire seasons of the fourth doctor's adventures (and the current one, but they have soft spot for classic who). we went to a Doctor Who convention a couple of years ago, too. ha!

I always loved the Basil Rathbone movies. I also liked the Jeremy Brett ones (which many younger people prefer). Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock was okay, but the one I really love is the latest Masterpiece Mystery! series with Benedict Cumberbatch. And of course, all the original books. Nice to be here, thanks!

I have read all the original stories, plus a number of pastiches. my first being the 7% solution. I look forward to reading the House of Silk and the new novel by William Meikle. Glad to be here.

I decided I needed some groups in my goodreads life and was very pleased to find this as one of the featured groups. I grew up with the ACD canon and the Great Mouse Detective, and now I'm completely invested in the BBC series. I haven't read many of the parodies or fan-adapted Sherlocks, so I'm very excited to be exposed to those works through this group.

Chris, you met Jeremy Brett? Wow! I was raised on Star Trek and Batman. I wish they were into Sherlock Holmes!

Well I will have to admit I was raised on Star Trek becuase of my Dad, and I have been a Batman fan since before I could read. I have a feeling I will fit in well here.

Your book sounds interesting. Any plans to produce an ebook version?

My SH addiction is quite new, having only started reading the stories a couple of months ago. I have finished The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and am currently reading my way through the Complete Sherlock Holmes. I have not tried any NON-ACD SH however.
I have enjoyed both of the RDJ movies. And am OBSESSED with the BBC Sherlock. I LOVE IT. So although I am a newbie, I am die-hard.
Looking forward to meeting others and talking about this wonderful new area in my life.

Heather, I too am obsessed with BBC Sherlock. Well, the fan fiction, ha! Have you read The Vesuvius Club by Mark Gatiss?

It's sorta like... if Oscar Wilde and Arthur Conan Doyle collaborated to write an adventure starring an Edwardian bisexual James Bond. And Mark Gatiss wrote it! So you might like it. Might fill the void left by having to wait more than a year for the next season of Sherlock...

I know exactly how you feel!

Wow! How I would love to have Holmes, Poirot, and Miss Marple still to discover! What a happy year you must be having!!!
After you get done with all of that, you might add the author Dorothy L. Sayers to your list--her mysteries about her sleuth, Lord Peter Wimsey (and later his lady friend, Harriet Vane) are right up there at the top of my list.
This is such a great group of people here at Goodreads.
