stormhawk | 1184 comments I love the idea of buddy reading, but unfortunately I don't think that we have anything close to the same interests in books (I tend to be heavy toward Science Fiction and Fantasy).

Clara | 11 comments What's a buddy read?

message 3: by stormhawk (new)

stormhawk | 1184 comments It's kind of like a group read, only less formal. Two (or sometimes more) people are reading the same book at the same time and discuss it. Kind of like sharing books with friends rather than a book club.

Speaking of Which ... hey Joy, could you start a category for Buddy Reads? Then folks could start threads for the books they want to buddy read and anyone can post to the discussion.

Patricia (pg4003) | 148 comments Oh, this sounds very interesting to me, I love to discuss books. Unfortunately, I don't have any of the books you listed. I read Fine Things (Danielle Steel) many years ago. Here's all my books listed on Goodreads, maybe you could take a look and see if you have any of them?

ETA: Forgot to post the link. http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/...

ETA again: I do have A Tale of Two Cities but don't think I want to read that right now.

Elizabeth (elizabeth8921) | 2233 comments Great idea Storm Hawk!! Could we have it in catagories? Mysteries, science fiction, fantasy?
It would certainly get me to read books that I do not normally read.

stormhawk | 1184 comments I think there should be just one Buddy Reads folder, but when you post a book you would like to buddy read, you could put the genre first, then the title ... for example, the title would be something like "Buddy Read - SCIENCE FICTION - Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein."

Elizabeth (elizabeth8921) | 2233 comments Sounds good so should I just list a couple books or wait for someone to come up with one that appeals.
Comtemporary thriller : The Devil of Nanking by Mo Hayder or a more common book

Patricia (pg4003) | 148 comments I've really been wanting to re-read The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. Read this in hardback a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anybody interested? (After we finish the Nicholas Sparks book).

ETA: This book could certainly spark some discussion!

I'll create a folder for it. :)

Patricia (pg4003) | 148 comments So has anybody started reading the Nicholas Sparks book yet? I started it yesterday and realized I read this book many years ago. But I'm still going to read it, I don't remember all the details.

Are these Karen Marie Moning books about vampires? I see so many people talking about them these days.

There not really about vampires Patricia they are more about the fae. There really good books if you like that kind of thing. I have read the first two and loved them both!
