This thread is for spoiler-friendly discussion & questions about The Immortals Series. Please be sure you have read all the books released thus far if you are reading posts in this thread.

Natz | 3 comments In the series, Riley has a HUGE part, especially in the first book. I read in one of the other discussions that you didn't actually mean for her to become so important to the books. Did something change your mind, or did Riley just blossom by herself?

message 3: by K (new)

K (KKGILL) | 1 comments in the series u have a great romantic relationship between ever and roman then, the summer land stuff so why don't u keep the relationship the main point or the second ? because most people like that from the other part in the story

If Damen and Ever's love was forced than why didn't Ever choose Jude when she could?

message 5: by Maddie (last edited Feb 21, 2011 06:24PM) (new)

Maddie (mojango) Because Damen loves Ever, and she shares that love. IF Damen died though, without Ever getting to know him, then she probobly would choose Jude. It's kinda like Twilight, if Edward wasn't there, Bella would choose someone else (or be dead from the car wreck - who knows?)Jude is just an obstacle of Damen and Ever's love, and a test for Ever's trust, which she totally .... until she has to ...

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

thanx but I wish that there would be Jude and Ever that would make things more interesting

Hi Natz-

Riley blossomed all on her own. She just kept showing up and I kept letting her because she was so much fun to have around, and I was sad to let her go! So it's been really fun to giver her her own series!

Kash-

Ever doesn't have a relationship with Roman, you meant Damen, right?

As for the rest of your question, I have to write the story the way it needs to be written, and while Ever and Damen's relationship is an extremely important driving force, there is way more at stake than just that. Everything that happens in the series is leading to Ever's ultimate destiny which will be revealed in EVERLASTING, and Summerland is an integral part of that.

It's nice when characters are happy and in love--but, you can't make an entire story about people who are happy all the time, it would get extremely boring! All stories are about transformation, overcoming conflict and obstacles in order to become a better, stronger, person--without it, well, you end up with a really long Hallmark card!

Hi Anny-

Um, who said it was forced?? I'm not really sure where you got that. Their love was never forced.

You just became my favorite author. :D I dislike romance novels because they're always happy, and Evermore was absolutely incredible because there was so much more intrigue and plot twists.

Taylor | 5 comments Why did you make it so that Haven was no longer Ever's best friend. I mean does that mean Mile's is her best friend?

message 13: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 3 comments I TOTALLY AGREE WHEN YOU SAY YOUR BEST FRIEND MAKES YOUR WORST ENEMY!
Oh I knew how it feels when you lose your closest friend.
:( It's not fun.
But I love these books soo much!
I feel like Damen's the one that messes up most of the time than Ever does. Because he's the one struggling w/ how Ever see's him and working hard to keep her happy. But I love Damen. He's sooo sweet!!!! :)

Hi Taylor-

Haven was a troubled soul from the start. She always wanted to be Ever's friend, but her jealousy and unhappiness often got it in the way. I thought it would be interesting to see what would happen if someone like Haven got a hold of that kind of immortal power--and their friendship changed because of it.

As for Ever's best friends, she counts Miles, Damen, Jude, and Ava among them, she really doesn't distinguish between them.

Jamie-

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that-- I've been there too, more than once, which is part of why I thought it would be interesting to explore this.

As for Damen, he's so burdened with guilt about his past, and for making Ever immortal and thereby ensuring she'll never see her family again and subjecting her to the hell of the Shadowland. He just wants her to be happy--and after 600 years of living he knows all too well that the most important thing we have is our love for each other.

:)

How did u come up w/ these characters? I love Miles!!! I love his upbeat personality! But how did you get Damen and Ever and Haven and this whole story together?

Lisarenee | 2 comments Alyson, I've only read your first two books. I'm trying to get the third, but I doubt I'll be able to read the last 3 before this Q&A are up. So if my question is answered in a later book just let me know which and I'll wait until it get to it.

When Roman did whatever he did to Damen in Blue Moon why did Damen suddenly obtain an aura? Why doesn't he usually have one? Also, why could Ever read his mind all of a sudden? Does he usually block her?

BTW I think you are a wonderful writer. :) Thanks for doing the Q&A with everyone.

Hi Lisarenee-

Thanks for stopping by!

Okay, as for your questions:

Damen's aura- Immortals don't have aura's. Damen only obtained one because Roman was slowly poisoning him which caused his immortality to fade, making him mortal again.

Ever could read his mind because he was losing his immortal powers and could no longer shield his thoughts.

Hope that helps!
:)

message 20: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 2 comments Thanks Alyson.

Since Damen made Ever immortal when he saved her after her accident why didn't she need to drink the immortal juice? What happens if an immortal stops drinking the juice? Do they age or would they become mortal again?

Also, do all immortals have the same powers or are there some variances with them?

Somewhat silly question. I hope you don't mind. Some friends and I were discussing the difference between paranormal and supernatural and were wondering what one of your immortals would be classified as. Would it be paranormal (I'm guessing no), supernatural (unsure about this one since there is an explanation to their longevity) or something else? Maybe an altered human?

Erm.. well I'm not sure whether tis is right or not, but I think that once you drink the elixer for the first time, you can survive 150 years without drinking anymore elixer. After that though, if you don't drink it, you age quickly suddenly. Am I right?

Alyson,
Once a person is sent to the shadowland, can they ever come back?
thanks,
:D x

Hi Lisarenee-

What Naomi said (below)- an immortal can stay young for 150 years with just one drink of the juice. Then they begin to age until they drink again.

All immortals have similar powers- strength & speed- for example.

I think paranormal and supernatural are interchangeable. They are both about things that exist outside of the ordinary.

Yep, you're right-thanks for chiming in!

As for the SHADOWLAND- this will be revealed in EVERLASTING!

message 24: by Ashlee (new)

Ashlee (ashlee_) I couldn't stand Haven at the end of Dark Flame! I feel like she never gave Ever a chance to explain. And although Ever was mad at Jude at the end of Dark Flame, I can't bring myself to be upset. I wish Ever and Jude could've gotten together, but I do like Ever and Damen's relationship- I feel like I'm in a love triangle with these books! that's when you know you picked a good series to read. ;)

And yeah, Haven is stubborn and troubled for sure!
