Because of Jim. :)

message 1567: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments False. Because of Susan. Then Jim.

message 1568: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 20, 2012 10:24AM) (new)

Well, you prompted his noting BTO...but HE noted it. You didn't know what he was talking about either, lady!

How 'bout: Because of Jim in response to Susan. ;)

message 1569: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments O.k. Your wording is better. Who even does that with band names, anyways? It could have been some inside joke. I wouldn't have known.

::points to name tag on shirt::

New over here.

message 1570: by [deleted user] (new)

Meh, I've been here since inception and I had no idea what he was on about...

message 1571: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments This confirms my earlier suspicions that Jim, is indeed, deranged.

Depending on my alcohol intake, there are some nights where I'm of the opinion that might just be the greatest song ever written.

When I'm sober, it's still in my Top 40. Stutter on...

message 1573: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Bar rarah...ba ba ba baby...

message 1574: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Susan wrote: "This confirms my earlier suspicions that Jim, is indeed, deranged."

It's all in the way you look at it.

message 1575: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I never said that was a bad thing. I am fairly certain I am half deranged. At least my other self is.

message 1576: by [deleted user] (new)

Jim is not deranged. He's brilliant! I've never beat him at scrabble yet. Of course, genius comes with a certain amount of eccentricity...

*smiles at Jim*

message 1577: by Chris (new)

Chris (bibliophile85) Been listening to some good, old Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull.

Specifically, the song Beltane from their Songs From the Wood album....great stuff! :D

message 1578: by [deleted user] (new)

Not that I want to feel old, but I had Songs from the Wood on Reel to Reel.

message 1580: by [deleted user] (new)

Was that what they had in the days prior to the Victrola? 'Cause I remember the 8-track, LPs...reel to reel?

What did they have when Larry was a teen? :)

I actually think that's pretty cool Jim :D As much as I love being able to carry thousands upon thousands of songs in a device small enough to fit into my pocket, I still enjoy the sounds of the...shall we say...vintage audio devices ;) Always nice to meet another Tull fan by the way.

Just put on the Roots to Branches album and am listening to "At Last, Forever"

My gran used to use one in her dance class. She would record the songs she wanted for recital from LPs onto reel to reel in one long go for the program. It's kinda like the old film projectors in school, but laying flat and the tape thing has the music on instead of pictures.

message 1592: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments That is good, too. I love me some Elvis. Oh, I also listened to Pocket Full of Rainbows but had to hear Little Sister to pick up the pace.

message 1593: by [deleted user] (new)

Pink Moon always makes me think of Maurice Doubleday.

(for those of you that go back that far)

*shudders at the mention of Elvis*

message 1594: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments What.Ever. Elvis was a hottie! Until he blew up. But I liked that it never stopped him from doing his karate moves on stage.

::mind begins to wander to Eddie Murphy doing a parody on Elvis::

I used to, growing up. So, here's the thing. You know my "fear of public speaking" thing? Well, it's really extended to being on stage, performing in any way. I'm happily a "behind the scenes girl". My gran taught Polynesian / Jazz / Tap dance for 50 years. I was forced to take lessons (I have a severe lack of rhythm...it wasn't pretty).

Anyway, I was dating this guy who was a huge Elvis fan. The church was having a "Talent Show", never a good thing. So, He gets my two roommates to force me into being a "back-up singer" for him. I was assured ALL I had to do was stand in the back with the two of them and pretend to sing, no sound had to come out of my mouth. It was all a ruse.

He came out with his leather jacket, grabbed my hand and drug me up in front of 150 people and sang.acappella.in an Elvis voice.Love Me Tender - to me. I was horrified. There is AWFUL photographic evidence. I wanted to shrivel up and disappear. It was a bone of contention for the rest of our relationship as he thought it should be the most romantic moment of my life, when in fact it was the most horrifically embarrassing.

Just the sound of Elvis' voice now makes me want to run.
