Toni I'm thinking if it does happen, there is going to be a LOT of editing. The baby may not even make it into the movie. There are just too many controversial issues that will not sit well with American audiences. Truly loyal Twilight fans may not mind, at least those without objections to the book.

I don't know. How do you think the story can be played out in a way that won't raise controversy?

Lebbano Honestly, i've been trying to figure out how New Moon will be a movie with so much time spent on Jacob. Are there really any Jacob fans out there?
But you do have a point, i dont think the issue will be having the baby in the movie, but more of the imprinting that Jacob does. A lot of people are going to find a teenage/infant relationship disturbing.

Lisa And think of all the CGI they're going to have to deal with to get the baby/toddler character onto the screen, unless they pull something like "Look Who's Talking" or bring out that Chuckie doll (sorry, that's who I kept picturing)....or maybe they'll go the route of the hobbits in LOTR and just substitue a "shrunken through the magic of film adult" for the wee bairn.

Lebbano And how is the baby going to "mature" so fast? Dude, SM really shot herself in the foot with this book. I couldeve written it better.

niamh I think Twilight will be the only movie made from the books. i thought it would have made a better tv program then a movie, so you could really get into the characters heads and the emotional stuff that you cant do movies.

lisa , i tottally agree about the chuckie doll thing , the baby was just creepy to me , i didnt get how all the characters were so in love with it , i kept picturing munchkins from wizard of oz.

Toni I seriously had "It's Alive!" flashes during that whole birthing scene.

niamh the birthing scene is a bit of a blurr for me , i was banking on it being a rosemary's baby and it was going to kill them all, but when edward started liking it i know there was no such luck . and since there was quiet alot of book to go i figured bella wasnt going to die anytime soon .

Marissa The movie deal apparently was for the first 3 books. Honestly a romance/baby/vampire movie...doesnt sound that great.

Sarah I'm a Jacob fan- I love him! I also love Edward! My concern with the movies is that if she wasand will be in the same state of mind when working with the director on the movie(s) as she was when writing BD then we better beware.

Leslie I'd like to have some of the second movie shot on the rez so Jacob's tribe gets some cash from the trashing they've taken in this book.

Diabla81 They will make New Moon depending if Twilight does very well. I personally think that if they do end up doing all the books, then Eclipse and Breaking Dawn might be mushed together into one.

Kat Helgeson Leslie - not sure they would appreciate being turned into a movie studio, though.

Shannon Does anyone think that the future of the movie franchise has been jeopardized by the reaction to this book? I'm sure a lot of people who were upset with BD will still go see it, but for some of us (me!) the Twilight experience has been completely altered. Also, do you think they'll bother with a movie for New Moon and Eclipse if they don't think Breaking Dawn is viable material for a film?

Kat Helgeson Shannon - yeah, I've been wondering the same...

But we all know the movie industry is all about the bottom line. So I think it's really going to depend on the box office take of Twilight. And there are enough fangirls, and enough semi-fans such as ourselves, that it's probably still going to do well.

In other words, you're not going to enjoy it as much, but that doesn't change the shape of your coin :-p

Cat [Book: Breaking Dawn: Yes It's Awesome] just came out and it was pretty good.

Cat Long live Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer New Moon (Twilight, #2) by Stephenie Meyer Eclipse (Twilight, #3) by Stephenie Meyer Breaking Dawn (Twilight, #4) by Stephenie Meyer & Midnight Sun (Twilight, #1.5) by Stephenie Meyer WOOHOO!

Kirby wow, this is really kinda neat, getting to see people's predictions from so long ago...that's funny that they thought BD wouldn't be a movie, or that eclipse and breaking dawn would be one movie, and then there's two movies! ha!

Haidi That is very interesting and funny. I only got into the books last year, so didn't even have any of these thoughts. I guess no one can predict how "big" a movie is going to be until it comes out tho. BD was probably my favourite book of the 4 and I'm only dissapointed that they couldn't put more of it into the movie.

Rachael I think BD P1 was the best movie by far, I have so far seen it twice and plan on going again.

It's so strange reading thoughts that they would all be "mushed" into one film when they actually broke BD into 2!

I now start the countdown to BD P2!

You sound like me! I've just seen BD for the second time and am already counting down the days til part 2.

Only a year to wait! lol

Haidi My friends and I laugh at ourselves, saying that we have issues! But what the heck, I enjoy it and thats all that matters.

Rachael Yeah, I was having a conversation with some freinds the other day and we can't understand all the hate that a simple story can create.

My philosophy is to simply not read something if I dont like that it had a bad editor or if you have feminist views and think Bella sets us back 100 years then don't read it.

I happen to have anti-feminist views and don't care that there are a few spelling mistakes. I think twilight has done exactly what SM set out to do, entertain those who are interested.

I think it's wrong to force ANY view on someone. There are threads on this site that just spout off reasons to hate twilight or other books. I really don't understand why people get so worked up about a fictional charater or story.

Haidi agreed! I just think, if you enjoy something then enjoy it and enjoy talking about it with people and friends, if you don't enjoy it, find something that you do enjoy and talk about that instead. Life is too short to waste on talking about things you don't like.

Rachael that was really well said, Haidi.
