Marilu | 65 comments World Cat says 507 too. i noticed this with another book today too, and I believe it was the same series. the difference was due to maps I think?? are there maps at the end, or beginning of the book?

Question for another librarian.........Are maps included in page count? ( I would assume so as they are relevant to the story)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 535 comments The maps are at the beginning, as well as a synopsis that is numbered i,ii, etc.

Marilu | 65 comments I am going to have to hope someone else jumps in here, but I do think these pages are counted. If you add those pages to 492, does it add up to 507?

No, pages that are BEFORE the numbered pages are not counted.

Ok I thought they were if they were maps or something like that. I guessed that was what was going on because I believe it was World Cat that showed 507 including maps or something like that.
that is exactly why i did not do an edit though, as I was not positive!

Maps at the end would be counted. But in general, we don't add to the count any pages at the beginning, because if you are on a page labeled 415, you should be able to put that you are on p. 415, and not remember to add 6 for the author's note (numbered i, ii, etc.)

that makes A LOT of sense!
So, just for clarification,
As I understand it NOTHING that appears BEFORE numbered pages is included, however some things are included at the end, such as maps, author notes, indexes would be. What else would be included?
