Twilight v. Harry Potter?
I think Harry Potter is much better than Twilight. That's all I can say. :)
Why would you compare two completely different books, is what I'm wondering. (Besides that they are major YA hits)
More like -100% right? I have to say Twilight is addicting, but it's not amazing literature.

Mostly it turns into fan wars. But people can like both, or neither, or one over the other; it's a matter of preference and opinion.

I really do not think these movies should be compared to each other. Twilight is a romance that some of dream of and may never find as Harry Potter is macgical and dark, but both are great books!!!
definetly! i actually prefer the writing style of rowling to all of the twilight books:P but, all good plotting!
I think Harry Potter totally hit rock bottom 2 years ago... I tried reading it, and I got bored. But, when I read Twilight I just couldn't take my eyes off of it! It's just so Romantic and cute. I just think Edward is a creepy little stalker in the movies. But, I pictured Edward to be more open with Bella. But, I guess not... Robert Pattinson is just weird... TWILIGHT ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!
How did it hit rock bottom? :/ The books stopped like 3 years ago. Or are you talking about the movies, b/c to me they got better as they went a long.

I think the only HP movie I didn't enjoy was The Half Blood Prince. Other than that...I loved the rest of them. :D The 3rd, 4th and the last two being my favorite.
Errr it was the 6th one and it was the worst out of the whole series. :/ They left a whole lot out from the book, and I was angered by that. It was a good book with a whole bunch of information about the back story and Voldemort but they didn't mention it that much in the movie.
not everything needs to be compared. honestly,i think the only thing they have in common is that there is violence and sacrifice and competition. -___-
I've seen every Harry Potter movie in theater, and sadly every Twilight movie, since I was dragged to those movies. :/
Harry Potter is WAY better than Twilight. Not being rude but harry potter movies are FANTASIC! When twlight (the movie) came out, i gotta say it was a bit crappy. I mean, vampires really didnt look like vampire. Yes, over the years, vampires started looking better but the only reason people are liking Twilight more than Harry Potter is because of Robert P. (Edward cullen) and Taylor L. (jacob balck). How many people actually knew Robert P BEFORE twilight? Taylor Lautner has appeared in some disney channel movies but he wasnt extremely famous until Twilight. J.K. did more than a fantasic job with creating HP. Her imagation is just brillant! Other than lord of the rings, i dont see any other movie that did a great job on the creatures throughout their movies. Have you seen Lord Voldemort??? That was beyond awesome! That is true talent.
What Stephanie Meyers did was good too but JK was better. She has kept her fans on their toes. Each year giving us more.
Even though im a fan to both (but HP more), Im 100% all the way Harry Potter.

Robert P isn't sexy to me at all. :/ He looks weird, and his face is just I don't know. And when he took his shirt off in New Moon, I about had a laughing fit at how skimpy and just ugh he looked. I liked him in Harry Potter, but in Twilight, he looked like some creeper.
Rob looks sexier to me without all that makeup. I think he looks okay in the movies but compared to what he looks like usually, it's almost a crime that they caked all that stuff on his face.
Actually, I think all the vampires in the movie would look better without the makeup.

Yeah, I know a lot of people who don't think he's attractive. I never really thought he was attractive until I saw the interviews for twilight (adorkable and quirky do it for me). Does he? He makes a joke out of it all. IDK if he really hates it or not, but he never gave me that impression.
Yeah in one interview he said the book was creepy and almost like a wet dream. The actors really don't like the movie/book series at all.
IDK, it seemed to me that Rob says these things jokingly. Although I do think he finds some of the things in the series ridiculous. XDSide note: I totally think he only auditioned for Twilight because of Kristen.
The cast joke about it a lot, I wouldn't say any of them hate the films. Can't really blame them on all the jokes, it is fun, even twilight fans enjoy it.
I think some of them, if not all, are fans. I remember Bill Condon saying that he appreciates how Kristen approaches the material, as an actress and as a fan. (Even if it didn't quite translate onscreen, props on that approach).
I've seen stuff that says Rob hates it. It's all over the place on Tumblr. Just looking at some of the interviews he's in...he doesn't like it.

Doesn't like isn't the same as hate.
Tumblr exaggerates because majority of tumblr-people hate twilight. A lot of them really like Rob deep down but they're too elitist to be his fan because he's associated with the twilight saga, thus they jump on every chance to say "see he hates twilight too, that's why I like him".

I do like Harry Potter and Twilight but i would always perfer twilight because it appeals more to the greateer audience of girls who love the romantic vampire loves the mortal in which harry potter appeals to the more excited adience in which harry against his true identity and his families death the part that gets me is it is based more on harry potter and his problems mor the less in which twilight shows more problems i personally think i love them both but twilight more any thoughts

I think the comparison is irrelevant. Twilight shares about forbidden love(between couples) while Harry Potter shares love in all its aspect.
Both are excellent stories, and shouldn't be compared.
BUT if I must choose, I say Harry Potter.
Twilight teaches us to love immensely, but quite obsessive. New moon shows that. How Bella hurts herself, just to be able to see an ILLUSION of Edward, quite extreme, no?
While HP is more in tuned to help readers have bravery, and to love not just yourself, but people. To stand for things worth fighting for.
While Twilight has some beautiful love points, its love is too obsessive and irrational. PLUS BD was a huge disappointment.
No comparison, BUT I find more personal meaning in HP than I do in Twilight.

I agree fully with Faith and Annalisa. There is no comparing Harry Potter to the Twilight series!!!! It upsets me to no end when people try to. As one who has read all the books and seen all the movies for both, nothing will EVER come close to the wonder of Potter. Rowling truly is a genius in every sense of the word, having the most incredible imagination and understanding of human emotion she built an entire world from her mind. Meyer created a series that was entertaining, but lacked substance, character development, and it was clear she had no editor. As I said I am a fan of both, but will stand by Potter to the end.
Erica- you fully nailed it. Harry Potter RULES!I mean JK Rowling and The Harry Potter Series have defined the lives of an entire generation where the Twilight series was like what a year or two?! The Twilight series isn't bad but it definitely lacks a good plot and there are no twists or any surprises that honestly make you excited. The main character in Twilight is described quite weak and helpless whereas in HP, all the main characters are brave, interesting, etc. etc. Therefore there's no competition.

That and the only reason they keep on being compared is because the people who reviewed Twilight said 'Move over Harry Potter!' even though there's NOTHING in common between the two series.
It really doesn't make any sense. There's is absolutely no point in comparing the two. It gets me frustrated when people try to do that.
Well I think it's interesting to compare, share opinions, look at similarities, differences, try to figure out why people like one over the other or like both or dislike both, etc.When people turn it into a competition, it gets annoying. But I'm pretty sure the intention was not to upset or offend anyone.

That's an opinion...not truth. Truth is fact.
Rowling is brilliant. Her writing is tight and her attention to imaginative detail is wonderful. The HP characters and conflicts have more depth than Twilight. For me the difference is, Meyer was a good storyteller LEARNING to write and Rowling was a good writer telling a great story.Even though I believe the HP books to be superior from a literary perspective, I've taken a lot of flack for my love of Twilight.
Harry Potter is like a tantalizing seven-course meal and Twilight is like a room full of chocolate candy. Common sense tells me the meal is better for me, but GOOD GRIEF, I love me some chocolate!

Well, changing the title to "Twilight" was the right move. It might not be super creative, but it's simple, it's poignant and it sounds pretty. (And it's definitely better than "Forks").
