As far as the poetry goes each constituent part of it has its own reason for being there -- I tend to think around a central concept whilst constructing the book though so that the poems hang together in a more coherent way.
Contact Wounds was written in a month and the impetus for that collection came from the image on the cover of a hand touching someone and wounding them -- an idea sprung from my sense of how powerful touch can be.
