My name is Danielle and I come from Australia. I am currently working on my science fiction novel. I about half way through writing it. I really just joined to have other science fiction writers to talk to about ideas, language and the authors that inspire us.

Welcome Danielle! I'm Colleen and this is my first post as I am also new to this group. I am a notorious lurker, but I hope to take a more active part. Goodreads is a great forum. I write fantasy and my first book was published in October. Quite exciting, but I'm finding that promoting is a big job as well. I wish you the best with your book!

Hey Keryl, My first book is titled SONGBIRD and is about a young woman who is a captive to the king for her magical singing abilities. I have always thought music touches a part of us that can be magical, and wanted to explore that in a romantic fantasy novel. My second book FLAME OF DESTINY was just released and is about a young woman who is out to avenge the deaths of her family. I have always been fascinated with the question of: How do we exact justice without a part of us becoming like those who hurt us in the first place? Thanks for your interest. Colleen, I totally agree with you about promoting being a big job. Trying to get your book and your name out there is almost a full-time task, much harder than the actual writing, in my opinion! But, I think forums like Goodreads is a definite bonus for us. Since I've been on here, more readers are aware of my work now and, in addition, I'm finding a whole lot of new authors to read, too.
