What Color Are Your Fingernails?
Very pretty Louise. Wah haha! It was our first day of autumn today. Wet & cold!
I looked at China Glaze in the store the other day. It is quite magical.Jammies, in your experience, do the cheaper polishes chip faster?
Suz, I've had both expensive and cheap polishes chip, it doesn't seem to be predictable for me. That's why I read reviews and of course, that's my excuse for changing my polish every couple of days. :)

I guess I need to adopt the same philosophy because it seems my polish always chips on day two. This never makes me happy.

I use to be slightly obsessed with my accessory colors matching/coordinating. Did anyone else notice that my travel mug picked up colors from my outfit and earrings? No. But I did and I was delighted by it.
I want to see! I did my nails like that but not my toes (it was just an experiment). I think they might need to be done like that for the beach.
Left hand--Pinkie: remnants of blue pen.
Ring: Maybelline 60sec Black nail polish and some random OPI sparkly.
Middle: Chipped off blue-ish color.
Index: Orange pen.
Thumb: A made up color (I like mixing), compiled of a Sally Hansen purple, an Essie blue, an OPI sparkle, another OPI sparkle, and some other color. (Ha. My poor attempt at not attempting to attempt "galaxy nails"))
Right Hand--
Thumb: Elmer's glue.
Index: Black Sharpie
Middle: some random pastel pink.
Ring: Nude. Like, no color at all.
Pinkie: red pen.
For the first time in 6 months, I've actually done my nails. Right now they are mint with a matte topcoat. http://instagram.com/p/Y5i0MXLOjP/
I have been meaning to get a matte topcoat. Can you guys recommend a good one that's easy to find at Duane Reade or wherever?
You can actually make your own matte topcoat by mixing cornstarch in clear polish. I got a very affordable one from Rimmel for like $2.
I'm sure I'll upset a few people with this, but I really do want to know...The lady sitting in front of me on the airplane yesterday had her fingernails done in a way I just do not understand. They extended about one inch beyond the tips of her fingers, and had multiple colors. From the base to the fingertip was a clear coat; from the fingertips to about 1/4 inch out was white; from the end of the white to the end of the nails they were a chocolate brown color.
So who is it she creates this look for? Herself, because it makes her feel pretty? Her husband (who she was very affectionate with)? Other women? All of the above?
I wonder this because it is not the least bit attractive to me. In fact, it looked downright scary. Combined with her bleached-blonde (BIG!) hair, it looked like maybe she was wanting to look like Pamela Anderson, who has got to be one of the grossest creatures on this earth.
I know, I know, they're her fingers and she can do whatever she damn pleases with them. But this was hideous enough (in my eyes) that I had to ask someone, and this thread seemed the right place.

My friend gets the acrylic nails done with different colored tips. I can't really understand why she does it, it looks quite tacky, at least in my opinion.

The women that do that tend to be, for lack of a better term, ghetto. At least the ones that I have encountered. There are always exceptions to the rule, but...
My toes are what my sissy calls "hooker pink". But, I got a lovely deep brick red with a tinge of metallic sheen while shopping with the mom today.

It doesn't sound attractive to me, either. But you're right, to each her own.
I would never get a french pedicure, that would draw too much attention to my feet, eek! But other women do.
Clear and unpolished and they're staying that way.
Mine are adorable. They're airbrushed on the tips in purple and the design is waves.
I like crazy, funky designs on my nails done in neon colors. (:
My aunt just gave me several new nail polishes, one a grey that I'm particularly excited about (if you can be excited about neutral polish) but I'm afraid to paint my nails now! It's almost 100% guaranteed that I will need to pick up the baby the second I finish painting them and they're still wet.

Coward."
And proud of it.
Coward."
And proud of it.
It's nail polish...not the Second Coming.

- ooh and I just ordered some really cool China Glaze nail polish
