"Okay, first up, we are going to be changing the pillow into a brick. After you change it, the second person is going to perform the spell that will make the brick change colors, fading from red to blue, to pink to purple and back." Professor Roberts stared at her tiny class. "I trust you both remember the correct spell? Or do you need a refresher?"

[Rachel, Deputy Headmistress]

"I need a refresher, Professor," said Nyx.

"Okay, Nyx. The spell to make the brick change colors is Aloncolix. Anyone remember the spell for changing the pillow to a brick?" asked Professor Roberts

Nyx stared at the pillow in front of her, wondering how on earth it would turn into a rock. She was one of the only sixth years who still saw magic as... well, magical. Shaking off her doubts, she pointed her wand at the pillow. "Antihypnosa," she muttered. The pillow turned a brick-red and was probably a little harder, but otherwise the same. Nyx sighed.

Nyx tried again. She got almost the same results.

[Elizabeth]

Professor Roberts went over to help. "Maybe if you changed your wand movement to a spiraling semicircle." she said

Nyx tried it. The pillow LOOKED like a brick this time, but was still soft and squishy, although it might be considered "firm" now.

[Elizabeth]

Professor Roberts narrowed her eyes in Nyx's direction in thought.

Carley grinned in amusement. Nyx's failing attempts were rather amusing to Carley, maliciously enough, as she had always envied Nyx for being related to the Headmistress.

Nyx shot Carley a look. She attempted one last time and finally got the results she wanted. If she had tried to sleep on this thing, she would be extremely sore in the morning.

"Good job Nyx." Said Professor Roberts

Nyx grinned and made a point of looking at Carley to see her expression.

Carley wore a bewildered and surprised expression... "Bet I would have been more efficeient." She thought to herself, forming a slight grin.

Profeessor Roberts turned to Carley, staring at her in a "your turn" sort of way.

Carley thought about the color changing charm for a moment then said, "But professor, isn't the incantation for the color changing charm unknown?"

"No, it's Aloncolix." said Professor Roberts. "You are probably confused because the incantation used to be longer, and was shortened in the seventeenth century because many people couldn't say it, giving it the nickname, 'The Uknown" spell."

"hello, I see we have a néw student? might I ask where you were yesterday?"

Tesse gave a crooked smile. "seems someone made a mistake. They put me in the other transfiguration class, which i refused to go to. I'm perfectly capable of being in this class, thank you very much."

[Rory]

Rory dashed in, sweat dripping down her brows, face entirely red, gasping out of exhaustion. "So sorry I'm late, Professor. Peeves held me up. Long story short, I took care of the poltergeist and hastily made my way here." She explained, excluding the minute details.

"okay, everyone take their seats and we will begin as soon as everyone arrives."

Tesse sat next to Carley, behind her sister's desk. "Finally! im in the right bloody class. transfiguration is my best skill, after all. I practically taught you all you know about it."

Professor Roberts walked into the *full* classroom wheeling a a cart of what appeared to be either really really ugly shoes, or really really old potatoes. She turned to the class . "Today we are going to be using the Jilibunxter Hex." she said.
