Has anyone been following this? I've been quite pleased so far. As far as approach goes it is very similar to the Wire (many characters, realism, no non-diegetic music, etc). Sad to know that it will be over so soon, though.

Adam | 2 comments I have been following and enjoying it as well. I think there are nine episodes in total. My only complaint is that there are almost too many characters. And since they all wear the same thing I have a hard time figuring out who is who, whose in charge, etc.

Karen (kgerow) | 4 comments I love this show a bit more with each passing week. Brad / Iceman remind me of Pembleton from Homicide: Life on the Streets. They have the same sense of morality - everything is black and white, few shades of grey; yet, they're in professions that require them to kill. Brad also has Pembleton's eloquence. I love listening to them talk.

The conclusion was fantastic. It really hammered home the extreme ambiguity of this entire endeavor--from the top down to the soldiers out to the Iraqi civilians. Simon and co. don't really let anyone off the hook, but that's because no one ever really is. David Simon is a realist deserving a place next to Emile Zola and Balzac.
