Feeling a bit overrun with books here... and loving it!

Lina | 5563 comments Just out of curiousity, how many of you go to the Goodreads pages of the freebies that Jenny and Robin and other post here? Do you see what the ratings are first? Check to see if any of your friends have it to read? Or just go straight to Amazon and download?

I go to the pages. I check both friends and ratings. But over all I go by the blurb (be it on gr or the amazon page.

And thank you for the freebies.

Rachel the Book Harlot CaroB wrote: "Just out of curiousity, how many of you go to the Goodreads pages of the freebies that Jenny and Robin and other post here? "

I usually check out both GR & Amazon for ratings and reviews. I'll also read the blurb and the sample chapters before I dl it. If it's something that someone here has read and rec'd then I'll just dl it.

message 867: by Robin (Saturndoo) (new)

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) Thanks Jenny!!!!

message 868: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments I look at both amazon and GR unless it's someone that I know. But if the cover is too cheesy, I don't even bother. And sometimes, the blurb will stop me or grab my interest.

message 869: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) | 506 comments I read the blurb on them all before deciding. If I see a friend has reviewed it that effects how far up the TBR pile it gets placed, but not if I get it.

I rarely go to the goodreads page first. I used to be really strict and add all the ones I got and put propper tags on them. Then I realized how much time it took to do all that for books I may take years to get too. I basicly got lazy and now just skip to the amazon page.

message 870: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments In order: I go to the book's Home Page, see if I've read the author, read the blurb, check out if GRs friends have added it, see if it is on listopia, read the reviews (if any) - friends first, then go to Amazon, maybe read reviews there...

I open the GR page see the rating and the categories , if it's below 3 or YA , I won't get it . Then I look at the cover and the title , I get the book if I like them. after that it depends on my mood , but I usually skim over the blurb and take a look at friends rating .

message 872: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Lisa Kay, Why listopia? does that affect whether you get it?

HUHHHHH??? What are you talking about? Ratings, reviews, blurbs, friends ratings/recs... is that what we are s'posed to do first? I thought you just purchased them because they are free and you don't turn down FREE...besides I'm with Susan, I don't know anything about freebies and don't ask me to explain the 5000+ books on my kindle either because I will plead the 5th.

Rachel the Book Harlot I saw this and thought it looked kind of cute: UnEnchanted (An Unfortunate Fairy Tale, #1) by Chanda Hahn . It's YA:

Blurb:
Mina Grime is unlucky, unpopular and uncoordinated, that is until she saves her crush's life on a field trip, changing her High School status from loser to hero overnight. But with her newfound fame brings misfortune as an old family curse come to light. For Mina is descended from the Brothers Grimm and has inherited all of their unfinished fairy tale business. Which includes trying to outwit a powerful Story from making her its next fairytale victim.

To break the fairy tale curse on her family and stop these deadly events, Mina must finish the tales until the very Grimm end.
