What Book Are We Reading First?

Btw, I love this site! I didn't know about it prior to Kathleen's posting!
I'm with you Vickie The books I am reading are ones that a coworker gave me (a whole box full!) so they are older. I am totally open to sending mine on to anyone.
If someone wants to pick a book we can all go to library or other cheap resources and get a copy. There is just soooo much to choose from that I don't know where to start except the box my friend gave me.

How about this...
Somebody pick a category (Mystery, Chick Lit, Vampire Romance, Humor, Animal memoir, Self-Help, Former Bestseller, Paranormal, an Oprah Pick, Young Adult Novel, Spiritual/Inspirational, Historical Fiction, Horror, whatever)
Once someone picks a category, the next person to post should pick a book and tell us what we are reading.
The third person to post then sets a deadline for us to finish it and begin our discussion.
In this way, nobody has the burden of making all the choices and somebody else can pick each part next time.
Would that work for all y'all?
Works for me - so I will jump and pick the category Mystery sounds good
So next - picks book
YAY
Thanks Vickie!!!

is it ok ?
I'm sooooooooooooooo excited :)

I'm off to find a copy in our library system. Somebody set us a deadline, please.

Also, I have no idea what to post as a deadline!!!!!

I'm not sure how it gonna work . will we read the whole book then discuss it or what ?

In the past, when I've been part of online reading groups, we could post as we read as long as we did not spoil it for others. (The "No Spoilers" rule.)
So for instance...it would not be okay to post anything about the plot until we all finished reading it. But it would be okay to post personal reactions, like whether or not you are enjoying it, which characters you are feeling an affinity for or asking someone to PM if they have read a certain chapter because you are confused and need clarification.
For example:
NOT OK to post: "I can't believe Cindy murdered Chad in Chapter 16!"
OK to post: "I just finished reading Chapter 16 and oh wow! If anyone else has gotten that far please PM me!"
NOT OK to Post: "What a cheesy ending...I can't believe Bob was the stalker."
OK to post: "I'm about half way through and I think I've figured out who the stalker is. I won't name names, but I'm just wondering if y'all think you know who it is?"
OK to post: "This one is moving so slowly. Is anyone else getting bored?"
OK to post: "Whoa...this one has some steamy sex scenes. Blushing in Iowa!"
OK to post: "Wow, I'm not even half way through and I'm feeling exhauseted from this emotional intensity."
Would that work okay for you Kath?
Works for me - I love the outline
PS I just ordered my copy from Amazon - only $4.00 shipped by buying a used one and I used my swagbucks amazon GC as well
Looking forward to receiving it and jumping in on the conversation
We only have one library in town and it's on the opposite end of town from where we live. So I am really loving the deal on amazon

Just added a folder for the Book Reviews and a separate thread for our Book one disscussion
This first one will be a good tester of how we want to make it all come together.

Now I have to reserve the book at the library.
Will there be a time limit?
Since it's looking like we need another week for everyone to get the book Maybe we can try for the end of the month? Not sure if that is enough time. I would also suggest we go ahead and pick the next book and have it in a "que" if you will so that we can reserve/order the book.
Anyone with suggestion for next genre?
Anyone with suggestion for next genre?

as I said before I already got the book (thank God) but I'm glad that you'll have the book in a week cause I need time to finish the novel that I'm currently reading
love you all :)

My friend just finished "The Undomestic Goddess" by Sophie Kinsella and said it was really cute and funny.
Anybody a regular reader of the genre who knows of something even better?
Not my genre of knowledge either. I say let's go for the friend recommendation. :)
Any one else have any suggestions?

Since our leader says let's go for it, let's tentatively try Sophie Kinsella's "Undomestic Goddess"

I'll go next door and get my neighbor's copy and tuck it aside for when we finish Secret Smile.
In between OLS - SMF reads, I can get a fix of blood, vengence and sex from my own shelves *wink*
Posted the Thread for Book Two.
We can pick number three at the first of the month and try to stay ahead on the selections so we can have more time to obtain our copies.
I am enjoying this venue - Happy Reading! :)

to let the chance for the slow readers (like me) & for those who get their books late (like me in the second book :) )to catch up .and also to get the chance to read other books between the group's
ok?
Veronica - would you like to start thinking/picking for March/Three :0) Time runs out so quickly so might be good if we keep a bit ahead on the selections.
Jenn - You can be April/Four
Dawn - You can be May/Five
I will pick June/Six
Then if nobody else joins in, I will just keep rotating Hope this is agreeable to all

Rotate again.

Be sure to remind me if/when it's my turn!
I'm one of those "need a nudge" people because I read so fast and it's really not unusual for me to be involved with more than one book. Especially when it comes to series I'm devouring *LOL*

Super awesome that Mark has joined the group!!

Ahhh, I wonder where you got the idea for this book?
I knew you'd enjoy it, Veronica...it's such an awesome story and Cox's near poetic description of such dramatic events left me breathless. I have to be honest and say I hated parting with it (only because I enjoy adding great books to my collection), but I could just envision you wrapped around this story....

I have a feeling that I will be "fangful" of your selection! :)

"The Slow Moon" by Elizabeth Cox"
Great! Just ordered it from my library.

How about Safe Haven, by Nicholas Sparks? It's been on my "to read" list for a while now.

Dawn wrote: "Okay, so I'm a little slow to this as I've not had a lot of time to read of late. Is it okay to skip a book, or read them out of order?"
Whichever ones you want to participate in is just fine. I read two first, and then one so I already started out of order.

Since many of us get our books from the library instead of purchasing them, AND there is often a waitlist, I'd like to recommend that we NOT read new releases. By picking something a bit older, we can increase the liklihood that our libraries have copies and used (read cheaper) copies are available for sale.
Looking forward to reading with y'all!
