Wow! Great to find a South Shore book lover's group and nice to see a few members from my old hometown of Weymouth! My name is Dan and I live on an island in Puget Sound (off Seattle) these days, but wrote a book called 3 Steps To Recovery, which was published last summer. The first chapters of the book took place while growing up in Weymouth, so thought some of you might be interested in it. It's received 17 Five Star Amazon reviews so far and a Reviewer's Choice Award on ReaderViews.com. If you'd like to learn more, you can read some free chapters at www.3stepstorecovery.com. Hi…Im a retired therapist/ turned master gardener moving to Southeast Mass next week and will be looking for book groups to join and interesting people to meet…I previously lived on Cape Cod for 6 years and before that in central Mass so Im thrilled to be moving back to my old stomping grounds among family and friends ..I organized a book group on the Cape and have been in book groups wherever Ive lived since 1994..Glad to have found this..

Some of us meet once a month to discuss a book at a local restaurant. Our next meeting is the last Sunday of July where we will be discussing The Spectacular Now. Even if you can't attend a meeting, feel free to join or start a discussion here on the group page.
Hello! I am a Weymouth resident looking to join a local book club. I was wondering how you decide what books to read every month? I had tried to start a book club a few years back and it seemed like it was very difficult to pick a book that the majority wanted to read. I don't think I will be able to make this months meeting but, I will do my best to make it to a Fall one. Either way, I am excited to see what everyone is reading! Thanks!

There's a post on the discussion board here where people can make suggestions of books we could read.
Then at our meetings we decide what book(s) to read for the next month or 2. We generally decide just by discussing.

Wow, small world, I think of the teachers at my school worked at the May Center for a little bit, I will have to ask him.
