ABANDONED. Guy takes keys/wallet from a purse he thinks belongs to his wife...

In the grocery store. It leads him into a murder mystery. The man character is a bumbling father type. He thinks he's going to teach his wife a lesson about leaving her purse unattended then looks like a complete jerk when it's not her purse.

Thanks for trying. I know it's a series. The "stealing keys/wallet" from (non)wife's purse is the start of the first book. Once he realizes his mistake, he hunts down the actual owner of the wallet and the woman is murdered and he finds the body. I think. In the second or third, he chooses a used car that has drugs in the door and gets his teenager in trouble because of it.

Does that trigger anything? I want to say the title of the first book has the word "Moving" in it. But that's just a wild guess.
