RandomAnthony | 14536 comments We're in the midwest, but people in places like Kansas and Nebraska dismiss us as Easterners.

I agree, Jammers. I'm never quite sure to what region Ohio belongs. The west seems like it should be in the midwest but the east seems more like Pennsylvania.

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments I always get the Red & Blue meanings backwards, kinda like East & West too. I think the area in my brain responsible for polar opposites is wired backwards.

I think I'm more purple than anything, and maybe that's because I grew up in Salem with Portland as an influence.

Phil | 11837 comments It's not unusual to get the red/blue political thing backwards. In my lifetime they've actually switched. Wikipedia says that before 2000, there was not a standard representation.

Jammies Bun, you're right, I did get them backwards, so I've fixed my post. And RA, hush your mouth, NE Ohio is Browns country, NOT part of Pennsylvania.

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Phil, you are wise (cause you look things up)... I now feel better about my mix-up.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3594 comments I live in the South, and I make that plain in my posts. That one bit of information seems to define me in some peoples' eyes as a right-wing, closed-minded bigot. In reality, I'm an open-minded person looking for a way to make things better.

Jammies I just have to add this to the discussion: http://myfoodlooksfunny.files.wordpre...

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Only apples in Washington state? That's not right! Where are the salmon?
Wait, why do some states get meals, and other states just get one kind of produce?
And what the heck are they eating in Montana? That looks like seafood, but that's a landlocked state.

And some states get their meat cooked, others apparently have to eat it raw.

Are those mountain oysters in Montana?

message 60: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments The raw and the cooked--a good way to classify the states.

What the heck is that in Utah?

Arizona gets one English muffin? Poor West Virginia gets an onion.

Whatever that is in Michigan I want one now.

Me, too, LG.

It looks like Nevada gets a buffet. At a casino, I assume.

Oh, there's a legend. Utah=green jello. Montana=Rocky Mountain oysters. Michigan=pasties.

Arkansas = jelly pie??? Oh dear. South Dakota = chislic?

message 65: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments What is chislic?

message 66: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Just checked Wikipedia. Fried meat on stick.

Lobstergirl | 24778 comments Mod
"The word chislic is likely derived from schaschlik, the German variant of shashlik, which is cubed meat or liver grilled on a skewer with tomatoes, peppers, and onions."

message 68: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments That picture of green jello is completely inaccurate. It should have grated carrots & raisins in it. Otherwise, it's just not Utah Jello!
