. . . The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen . You may have already seen the poll results, but I thought I'd start the thread announcing the winner as well. Happy first book of 2011 for our group read!

Carlissa Hi, everyone! I bought this month's book and have already started reading it. Do you all discuss the book as you read it or does everyone just write a review when they're done?

We usually discuss it as we read it.. . although there really hasn't been a lot of discussion! Personally, I'm excited that this month's book is quite short, because I did find it difficult to read Outlanders (given how long it is) along with all the time challenges of December! But I thought Outlanders was fantastic and am now hoping to read the next book, once it becomes available at the library.

But, welcome, Carlissa, and feel free to jump in any way you want to to discuss this month's book.

You raised something which might be a good idea for our group reads: posting a message when we've finished a book if we've written a review.

Andrea (anniec85) | 8 comments Yay, I'm excited to read this book for my first time joining in this group's group read. Bonus that my library had this as an ebook!

Dixie (readerofthepack) I started reading this yesterday and only have about 50 pages left. It's a super quick - and good - read!

Desiree (wickedlittlehigh) | 5 comments I just finished the book, couldn't put it down despite feeling quite ill.

Carlissa Finished reading this book a couple days ago. It was an enjoyable read. Just a few things I didn't care for which I mentioned in my review.

message 8: by Cobbie (new)

Cobbie (cobbieg) I really enjoyed this book. It was a very quick read. I love the idea of the wallpaper. I wonder if any of the other folks in town had magical things happening to them but they were not willing to share it with others. It is odd that Emily’s family, Sawyer’s family and Win’s family were the only families mentioned with magical things happening around them.

I posted my review a few days ago too! And I'm about to start a new thread now asking for nominations for February, so check that thread as well to enter your suggestions for next month.

Kim D (kdimattia) | 34 comments I didn't really like it! It was ok, but her book Garden Spellswas much more interesting. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters in The Girl Who Chased the Moon

Judy (julianka) | 5 comments I just started reading this and so far I must say it's a page turner. A few too many characters with their own stories maybe, which makes it a tad confusing, but I only put it down because I had to get up out of bed - otherwise I might have finished it already!

message 12: by Abby (new)

Abby I finished it, but couldn't care less about it. The characters never took shape for me; they were rather flat. The magic never happened. The only cool thing was the wallpaper. I'm glad it was a short book.

message 13: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I am about half way through and I am really, really enjoying it! I added Garden Spells to my to read list :)

message 14: by Abby (new)

Abby I have Garden Spells on my reading list; I'm hoping it pulls me in more.

Judy (julianka) | 5 comments Well overall I thought this book was good, but not great. I liked the beginning better because it had me really curious to find out what all the secrets were, but they turned out to be not particularly exciting, particularly the Coffey's big secret. I think that reminded me a bit too much of another popular supernatural story.... I was also more interested in Emily's story than Julia's and got bored with a lot of the stuff about Julia and Sawyer.
