Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 59. Full Share (Golden Age of the Solar Clipper, #3) by Nathan Lowell Full Share These are becoming a guilty pleasure of mine. This is the third in the series and not quite as polished as the other two- there were some continuity errors and several typos (little things, but they pulled me out of the story)- and there sheer perfection of the main character is a bit ridiculous... and yet I can't seem to stop reading! In fact, the only reason I haven't started on the fourth one is that it isn't available yet ;)

I HATE stuff like that! And it seems to happen all the time.

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 60. True Grit by Charles Portis True Grit I can not imagine what was going on in my head when I decided to pick this up. I'm just going to chalk it up to the influence of an evil faerie and be grateful that the book was short! Ugh :(

I read it for the first time the end of last year and I loved it!

I love the way King can take that huge cast of characters and make them all individual and... believable I guess. Even the insane, over-the-top ones :)

Vwry well said Stacie! I read it as a group read so I was really able to dive in and pick it apart. It is one of the rare books that I would be willing to reread at some point.

This one has been on my TBR shelf forever, I think maybe I will try to get to it this year!! =) Thanks to your post, it just moved up in status!! LOL

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 62. Blackest Night by Geoff Johns Blackest Night This didn't work as well as I'd been hoping... 304 pages of "wtf?!" storytelling and average art. Not exactly wasted time, but I'm glad I didn't have to buy the copy.

This is listed at a YA reading level (probably because it isn't very complex) but the level of violence and the imagery should probably push it out of that category. I haven't decided yet, so I'm leaving it on my YA list.

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 63. Buffy The Vampire Slayer Time Of Your Life (Season 8, Vol. 4) by Joss Whedon Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Time Of Your Life What can I say? I love these, they make me giggle (and guffaw) just like the show did, and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the rest of 'Season 8'. I do think the appeal of these GNs is pretty much limited to fans of the show, though.

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 65. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Retreat (Season 8, Vol. 6) by Jane Espenson Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Retreat

66. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Twilight (Season 8, Vol. 7) by Brad Meltzer Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Twilight

67. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Last Gleaming by Joss Whedon Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Last Gleaming

Having followed this experiment in media-hopping from beginning to end, and noted the things that translated well (and the things that didn't!) all I really have to say is (view spoiler)

Really doesn't have anything to do with anything, but that's a nifty feature there to hide spoilers!

It really is :) Unfortunately it doesn't carry over to the email updates, but it's great for anyone who reads from the site.

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 68. Modern Scholar the Giants of Irish Literature Wilde, Yeats, Joyce, and Beckett by George O'Brien Modern Scholar the Giants of Irish Literature: Wilde, Yeats, Joyce, and Beckett Sadly, this one was a disappointment. I really like the authors covered, but the Professor managed to make the subject excruciatingly boring.

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 73. Alaeddin and the Enchanted Lamp by Unknown Alaeddin and the Enchanted Lamp The translation is very unwieldy, but I enjoyed the information in the footnotes :) Not the version I would recommend, though, to someone who just wanted the story, even if it is free!

I think #4 is probably my favorite, but it's so hard to choose :)

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 74. Origins of Marvel Comics by Stan Lee Origins of Marvel Comics This is one of those 'preaching to the choir' kind of books. If you aren't already a fan of comics in general and Marvel comics in particular this book will likely irritate you. A lot. If, however, you are a fan you will probably have fun reading it, and possibly giggle madly here and there.

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 75. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4) by J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire I think this is my favorite one of the series, though that's a tough choice... I love them all!

76. Go the F**k to Sleep by Adam Mansbach Go the F**k to Sleep Meh... I think my expectations were too high. It was humorous, but not side-splitting, falling-out-of-the-chair hilarious.

Stacie, I had heard so much about this book "Go the F**k to Sleep."

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 77. The Farthest-Away Mountain by Lynne Reid Banks The Farthest-Away Mountain My first experience with this story was in audiobook form during a verrrry long car trip. It was cute and charming, and when it got to the part with the gargoyles we nearly laughed ourselves off the road! It was fun to revisit :)

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 78. The Dark Side of Nowhere by Neal Shusterman The Dark Side of Nowhere Great writing, as always from Schusterman, and a gripping story. I love this author!

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 79. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children Fun, well-written story with some extremely creepy photos, lol!

80. Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica RothDivergent Very good! Somewhat reminiscent of The Hunger Games, but in no way a 'copycat' story. I liked that, while it is definitely Distopic, it didn't try to hit you over the head with it.

message 132: by Charleen (new)

Charleen (charleenlynette) | 1688 comments I've been hearing good things about Divergent. Of course, I still haven't read Hunger Games yet.

That's the neat thing about books... They wait patiently (more or less, LOL) for you to find the right time to read them :)

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 82. I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak I Am the Messenger I was pretty disappointed in this one- probably because I loved the last thing I read from him so much! I didn't really like or identify with any of the characters, and by the time I got to the end I couldn't help but feel that my time would have been better spent doing something else.

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 84. Lockdown (Escape From Furnace, #1) by Alexander Gordon Smith Lockdown A good, fast read. It's violent and distopian, so if that turns you off this isn't the book- or series, since this is book 1- for you.

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 85. The Iliad by Homer The Iliad I know the story, but had never read an unabridged version. It was good, and I'm glad I finally read it, but I still prefer the Odyssey :)

86. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter #7) by J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I love this series. Lovelovelove! The movies were great fun, but as is almost always the case... the books are SO MUCH BETTER! :)

Definitely agree. I am in the middle of rereading this one myself.

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 87. The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman The Golden Compass My favorite book of the series, though I like all of them. As a whole, the series is richly layered with believable characters, complicated interactions and complex themes. This is the first book in the series and more 'light-hearted' (for want of a better term) than the rest, though it's full of violence and pain and betrayal.

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments 89. The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham The Day of the Triffids Pretty good, but definitely some dated ideas. There were several times that I had to beat down my 'modern sensibilities' to get through sections but overall I enjoyed it :)
