Did you know it was adapted into a French film?
It's coming to an independent theater here and I can't wait.
Did you read "Gourmet Rhapsody"?

#34 "The Elegance of the Hedgehog" by Muriel Barbery. Translated from the French by Alison Anderson.
Published in 2006. 325 pages.
Fantastic! One of my top 10 favorite books..."
I didn't know it was a movie! I'll have to try and find it. I haven't read "Gourmet Rhapsody", but when I did a search to add it to my TBR list, it was already on my "read" shelf. For some reason, GR thinks it's the same book as "Elegance of the Hedgehog"!

Sorry it took me so long to respond! I haven't had power for days and I started a new job. (Lots of excitement)
I wanted to tell you that "Gourmet Rhapsody" is the story of the chef character in "The Elegance of the Hedgehog".

#36 "Crane Spreads Wings: A Bigamist's Story" by Susan Trott. Published in 1992. 221 pages.
I am still a loyal Susan Trott fan!

Eighth book on CD.
"A Room with a View" by E.M. Forster.
7 CDs. Blackstone Audio. Read by Frederick Davidson. released in 1992. Unabridged.

BTW, did the film of Elegance of the Hedgehog come to your town yet?

I am counting the books on CD separately. I have a long commute, so I have more time for listening at this point than for reading.
I missed the film adaptation of "Hedgehog". It was at our local independent theater but I didn't have any time to spare. I guess I'll have to wait for the DVD.
C'est la vie, no?
What have you been doing?

Hi Leshawn,
That's too bad you missed "Hedgehog". It hasn't been released on DVD in the U.S yet - someone on Amazon is selling a copy for $70, but I think I'll wait a bit! Looks like you're going to surpass your 50 total books goal with no problem. I've gone way over my original goal this year, but it's been an unusual year. Next year, I'll probably go back to a goal of 50 - have too many projects I've been neglecting because of my reading obsession!

I have been waiting for the U.S. DVD release of "The Hedgehog" as well.
I haven't had many minutes to visit goodreads and that has been a source of sadness. I have just a few moments at a time to read. I keep reminding myself that all things happen in seasons and that I will one day return to a season of reading abundance. Meanwhile, I have lots to be grateful for today and I count you as a blessing Ann!

Ninth Book on CD "The Rules of Civility" by Amor Towles. 10 CDs. Unabridged. Penguin Audio. Read by Rebecca Lowman. Ms. Lowman did a fantastic job and I enjoyed every moment.

#39 "The Discrete Pleasures of Rejection" by Martin Page. Translated by Bruce Benderson. published in 2010. 182 pages.

#40 "Don't Look Back, We're Not Going That Way!" by Marcia Wallace. published in 2004. 226 pages

Tenth Book on CD "The Maple Stories" by John Updike. Unabridged. 5 CDs. Narrated by Peter Van Norden. BBC Audiobooks America. Recorded in 2009.

I LOVED this too! It seems to be one of those books that people either love or hate.
