"The Worst Mistake a Boy Can Make"

The first thing that came to my mind when I read that sentence in the summary is that he must cheat on her. But who knows........... Maybe he lies about something. Maybe he hits her.I just can't wait for this book to come out!!! 111 days to go :(
The first thing that popped in to my head was did he cheat so thats really the only thing big enough it seems to make her reconsider every thing. To me personally but who knows????
As soon as I saw "the worst mistake a boy could make," I immediately thought that he cheated on her.And then I kept obsessing over it, and thinking back to the other books, and decided to one-up it as saying that he not only cheats on her, but he cheats on her with Taylor.
In the first two books, Taylor was constantly going on about how cute Jeremiah was, and how much better he was than Conrad, and how she'd date him and blah-blah-blah, and since Jeremiah and Belly are going to the same college, and Taylor wanted her and Belly to go to the same college, I'm figuring Taylor's there as well and something's going to happen between her and Jeremiah. They were always flirting with each other anyway. And then he'll confide in Conrad about it, and Conrad will be so mad at Jeremiah for it that he'll wind up telling Belly.
Okay. Wow. So, I have no idea if any of that is even REMOTELY close to what's going to happen in the book. Clearly I've had too much time on my hands while I've been on winter vacation that THIS is what I wind up doing with my time.
I love these books...April 26 is TOO far away! However, it comes out three days after my birthday, so it just gives me more to look forward to. :D
^ Yeah I agree with the above, I think that he either cheated on her with Taylor, or dumped her for Taylor. I can't see him being abusive, and I don't see why lying would make that big of a deal for her to reconsider their relationship. Based on the summary, it sounds like their relationship was rocky for a long while, and while Jeremiah really doesn't seem like the type to cheat on a girl, especially a girl he claims to love so much, we really aren't sure how their relationship panned out over the 2 years, so it could've happened. I dunno, just my thoughts, I can't wait either, ugh!
Maybe she needed a reason to end the relationship because it says in the summary that "only, their relationship hasn't exactly been the happily ever after Belly had hoped it would be." So he probably cheated on her ( i agree, jeremiah isnt the abusive type) and that was her way out.I hope she ends up with conrad, there meant to be together :.)
I never said Jeremiah was the abusive type. (Then again, I never thought he could "make the worst mistake a boy could make" either but there you go!)But I digress. Like I said in my first comment, I think he has cheated on Belly. But the OP asked what the statement could mean. So I asked myself the question: What IS the worst mistake a boy can make? What are the things that a boy could do, that to me, would be totally unforgivable? To me those things would be cheating, lying and abuse.
As for dumping Belly for Taylor - I don't really see that as a mistake. It's not like he's actually done something wrong while in their relationship. But cheating on her with Taylor - definitely a big mistake!
I think I speak for most of us when I say that we thought Jeremiah was pretty perfect in the first two books. After reading the first two books I couldn't see him doing anything wrong, especially hurting Belly but now it sounds like he has done something wrong. So who knows what he's capable of? Sometimes you think you know a person but really you don't.

that is such a good point because taylor and belly got into that fight so its not like taylor would feel guilty plus she was attarcted to him and so was he to her

FYI you are not the only who spent there vacation obsessing. Sometimes i think I'm crazy for obsessing over books but it's fun to escape to a fictional life when yours is almost nonexistent. I like what you had to say about jeremiah & Taylor. It makes sense with Conrad telling belly bc he wants her back since he lost her to him
"DescriptionBelly has only ever been in love with two boys, both with the last name Fisher. And after being with Jeremiah for the last two years, she's almost positive he is her soul mate. Almost. Conrad has not gotten over the mistake he made when he let Belly go even as Jeremiah has always known that Belly is the girl for him. So when Belly and Jeremiah decide to make things forever, Conrad realizes that it's now or never--tell Belly he loves her, or lose her for good.
Belly will have to confront her feelings for Jeremiah and Conrad and face a truth she has possibly always known: she will have to break one of their hearts."
Someone found this on the publishers website. Honestly, it has gotten me quite a wee bit confused. Thoughts?
I agree with you it is confusing. But I think it gives us more clues about whats going to happen in the last book. I think she is in love with Jeremiah but then Jeremiah commits that "mistake" that everyone is talking about. This makes Belly reevaluate her relationship with Jere. But then Jere asks her to forgive him and she does because she knows he loves her a lot, despite what he has done. Eventually Jeremiah asks her to marry him and she says yes (reluctantly). Mean while Conrad is still struggling to either tell belly the truth about his feelings or just accept all this and let her marry Jere. But then the day of the wedding he finally lets her know and she realizes that conrad is the one. they run away together, which then explains the final epilogue scene from "its not summer without you" were she is in a white dress in the rain.
By the way these are all complete guesses for all i know it could go a totally different way. I'm just trying to piece together the story with the little information we have been given.
Oh and I read the earlier comments about the "mistake." I would just like to say that yes I do believe he cheated on her. But I for one am hoping its not with Taylor its with some other girl he barely knows and it was a complete accident (not that cheating on your girlfriend can ever be considered an accident.) Its just the despite being team Conrad I still like Jeremiah, but I would end up completely HATING him if he cheats on Belly with one of her closest friends and someone she has known all her life. Because cheating is gross and a stupid thing to do but cheating on your girlfriend with her oldest friend is despicable.

Actually that makes complete sense! If it is right I hope she ends up with Conrad!
Jeremiah will probably cheat and lie and Belly at the last minute possible runs off with Conrad.I'm a Jeremiah fan but seriously, I know I gonna be pissed at Jere for whatever he does to Belly especially if it doesn't seem like him in the first two books. I hope Taylor isn't that bad of a friend; it doesn't seem like their friendship would be that strong in college or whatever...
It's always Conrad.
For sure. I was a Jeremiah fan too, but if he cheats on Belly, I can see how that would be it. Because Belly always had loved Conrad and one little mistake and Belly will be confused. And that's what happened. So B&C forever.

ZEveryone going with the cheating angle.. and many made to point out the jeremiah/taylor relationship in the first two... maybe this resurfaces and he does cheat on Belly with taylor. Nothing like a romance rekindled right... and belly finds out.. thinking about it, this would seem highly problable. Seeing as taylor becomes interested in JERE int he secind when he picks up Belly from taylor's. Also she is not the most loyal best friend is she, so most likely she would be able to hide it as well..
as for JERE, well the romance may rekindle and hes already pushed belly aside more than once for a shot at taylor,
this is my bet,
ahhhhhhhhhhhh, i'm dying to know!I personally think that Conrad gets into another "situation" and calls Belly for help. Then Jeremiah tells Belly to not get involved, thus making Belly choose to between the brothers once again.
That or like proposes or something totally dramatic like that. But that's a litle Y&R since Belly would still be in High School or First Year
Belly had always been in love with Conrad, he was the boy of her dreams and in the epilogue it says that this wasn't what she pictured so it has to be Jeremiah.
yeah, that's true..or he probably cheated..that's pretty bad. But that's so weird, because Jere loved belly so much, so it doesn't make much sense if he cheated after he got what he wanted after so long.
but then again he did sorta ditch belly for taylor when they were younger and there may have been a spark on interest in the 2nd book when jere picks belly up from taylors

Agreed!!
Agreed!!
Do you think that jere might have cheated on belly with taylor?!?!
Katie wrote: "Do you think that jere might have cheated on belly with taylor?!?!"no, all the reveiws say it was just a random girl which im not sure makes it better or worse
Yeah idk if theres a way to make what he did any better than it seems.....but if he did cheat on her with taylor that would've created ALOT of drama between all of them!!

Any ideas one what this means? Any predictions? Infidelity, or maybe rushing the relationship?
I really have no clue.
