Lisa James (sthwnd) I am reading The House of the Spirits-Isabel Allende, & enjoying it. I had to go turn books in at the library though, so I went with a list :) Here's what I came home with, in no particular order:

Breakfast At Tiffany's
Tropic of Cancer
Fear of Flying
Song of Solomon(Toni Morrison)
Possessing the Secret of Joy(follow up to The Color Purple)
The Devil & Miss Prym
Lolita
Rabbit Redux
The Secret History

All are on my 1001 Books challenge list, easily half or more are also on the various Banned/Challenged book lists :) I should have fun with these :)

Louise Finished Number the Stars today (started it this morning, nice warm feeling!). Lovely children/young adult/why-not-adults-too's book, the afterword made me cry! Haven't had a book do that in ages. Highly recommended.

Now reading The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul

I have never heard it pronounced like that.

message 968: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jennyc89) Today I started Dune and Something Wicked This Way Comes. I'm listening to Something Wicked on audio and the narrator is perfect!

message 969: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jennyc89) I'm just not feeling in the mood for Dune anymore. I'm going to start Leviathan Wakes instead.

eleanor | 73 comments J.D. wrote: "My mind can't seem to make up it's mind what to read! I keep starting books and stopping them to read a different book. Anyone ever had this problem before?"

I get that way at times because I have so many books on my shelf. I have to tell myself '1 book at a time' but that doesn't always work

message 972: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Flores (sandramaria) | 5 comments Hi, I'm currently reading three books, pick up one or another depending on my mood.

message 976: by Karen M (new)

Karen M I seem to have gotten caught up in Practical Magic so I'm further along with that than I am White Oleander which I started first. I also did an audio read of My Ántonia which seemed to have stopped me from reading the other two until I had finished listening. I am back to actual reading now.

message 985: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylkinkaid) How the Scots Invented Canada almost finished
Hedgehogs just started
There's Lead In Your Lipstick: Toxins in Our Everyday Body Care and How to Avoid Them got a little sidetracked on this one but I'm going back to it.

I'm also starting Dreaming Anastasia and Fauna

message 986: by Lisa (new)

Lisa James (sthwnd) I finished Breakfast At Tiffany's, Song of Solomon, Possessing the Secret of Joy, and The Devil & Miss Prym. All were good.

I am 55 pages into Rabbit, Redux, good so far, but a trite bit dry. The first one was a little dry too, but I'm wondering if that's just characteristic of Updike's writing style.

Still have on deck:

The Secret History, has good reviews so far
Lolita-controversial for many years, on the Banned/Challenged lists
Fear of Flying-also on the Banned/Challenged lists
Tropic of Cancer-also on the Banned/Challenged book lists
