I am Currently Reading (2011)

Tales of Wonder from the Garden State, which I got as the result of an author promo here ... loved it!
Riddley Walker
Doctor Who and the Enemy of the World

Doctor Who and the Web of Fear
And I'm looking for a second, "more serious" book.
Not sure if I want to go Science Fiction or Mystery/Thriller next.
And I have some book club reads backed up and waiting, and a number of DTBs, but I prefer the Kindle for hospital visiting. I need a wheeled suitcase to carry around A Discovery of Witches, for example.

I loved this book. When my friend first suggested it, I read the book and thought it sounded perverted!

I'm glad to hear you liked it. I've heard lots of great stuff about it, and I just bought it for my sister for her birthday.

The Hobbit!

I just finished A Discovery of Witches.
Why, oh why didn't anyone warn me (view spoiler)

I absolutely LOVED this book, & cannot wait till the second book is released!

Read Memoirs a couple of years ago & loved it :)

The Hobbit, definitely! One of my favorites as a teenager many years ago :) I want to see the movie when it comes out just to see how it stacks up to the book.

It's a good story, & Gatsby himself is the character everyone loves to hate, LOL

The book is fascinating so far.

Have you seen the movie yet?

To catch up with my five-year absence from reading, I try to read (simultaneously): a poetry book, a short stories compilation, a classic (must-read sort of thing), and a free choice book. I'm trying to work in a book in my mother tongue (Hebrew), also (currently, I'm reading the Hebrew translation of The Fountainhead, so it serves two purposes).

How do you not read for five years? Without being in a coma, I mean.
I get pale and sweaty if I read less than a book a week ...

Haven't seen it but I'm seriously considering. I don't normally watch the movie and read the book but I'm very curious about it. How did they handle such a long necessarily complicated storyline? A friend told me the ending got tweaked and refused to spoil me so I have to find out about that. Surprisingly, my favorite character was Rosarsch.

I loved Great Expectations. Pip's deeply held biases were fun.

yeah, the last five years (actually, I'm lying, it was only for four years, but the last 12 months I've been slow with reading, and did a lot of re-reading, so they don't r really count)...anyway, I wasn't in the best of places during that time. The book reading (or lack there of) was just another sign to how lost I was. Back on track, though :)
