I read that series and loved it...technically it would be an Urban Fantasy with a bit of paranormal romance thrown in....A lot of people like the Mercy Thompson series by PAtricia Briggs, or Kim Harrison's Hollows series. I wish I knew how to do the links on here, but they are pretty easy to find.

Yeah, thanks, we read lots of urban fantasy, including the Mercy Thompson series. Gave up on the Kim Harrison books a long time ago, the characters got too annoying.

I made it a little farther, Maggie, but the only character I liked was written out of the series.

Oh, I should point out that vampires and faeries are persona non grata with the friend I'm seeking suggestions for.
