Elisa Paige Stealing Time is very special to me since it's the one that started it all.

For two weeks in January 2009, a voice pounded relentlessly in my brain: "It wasn't that I wanted to live forever. I just didn't want to die."

What the heck?

I'd just had a nonfiction equestrian book published by Storey and, as a former (obviously nonfiction) reporter, thought of myself as a (wait for it) nonfiction writer.

Duh.

But when the voice wouldn't go away, I sat down at my computer and allowed my mind to wander. Who would say such a thing? Who would feel this way? Who the BLEEP had taken over possession of my thoughts in such an intriguing manner?

Evie Reed was born, along with James Wesley, Leo, Gage, Siska . . .

Maelstrom came next (due out mid-January from BookStrand, this is Shadowplay's prequel).

Shadowplay's Mia and Roddie took their turn kicking around in my mind. For reasons far too boring to enumerate, Shadowplay was published out of order before Maelstrom, through no fault of BookStrand's.

Then Honor Bound (currently being shopped by my agent with, cue the fanfare, Really Big Publishers).

Killing Time (Stealing Time's sequel, due out June 2011 from Carina) is in its final writing stages now.

Flight Risk is my next WIP and I've jotted notes for two more . . .

But it all began with Stealing Time.

So while I'm absolutely thrilled Carina picked it up . . . Over-the-moon that Audible is producing an audio book . . . I'm also anxious.

Although it's nowhere near as heart-wrenching as sending my sweet daughter to school the first day of kindergarten, I have similar hopes that it's liked and that the other kids are nice to it.

(Deep breath) January 31st is the big day!
