Hi Dana...U will not be disappointed in Dracula.

Daniel...Dracula is absolutely amazing, although it is a very dark book and I can only read so much at a time...I sure hope that you enjoy it as I am.
Looking forward to reading your comments on Gulliver's Travels

Some favorites have been Les Misérables, Frankensteinand Jane Eyre, and I also adore Romantic and Victorian poetry.
When I'm not reading paranormal romances, that is!

Any other good classic books are welcome. I love novels that take place in the history. I love the feel of the past and how an author narrates it. ^__^

Hello Anita and Tierney and welcome to the group.
Anita I am new to this whole classic reading but these guys on this group are absolutely AMAZING and very helpful. I too am addicted to this site. I am on here more then any other website.
I have not read the Harry Potter books but some day MAYBE I sure do hope to!!!
In September we are reading To Kill a Mockingbird and The Hobbit. We also discuss the books during our reading so if you have any questions or feel confused we are all there to help eachother out!!!
Happy Reading!!

I have read Harry Potter, I have read many similar books. Look on my favourites on my bookshelf, all of them are amazing books.
Terri, I think Henry James is one of those authors that needs to get to the point! I felt that way when I read The Turn of the Screw.

I love the Classics AND the Harry Potter series. I fact, I'm willing to be that in 100 years Harry Potter will be considered Classic! By the way, I have a huuuuuge crush on Snape.
I'Ll certainly join you for The Hobbit. Tolkien in probably my all-time favorite writer.

I'm reading The Hunchback of Notre-Dame now and I'm here to tell you, Hugo is another of those authors! I loved Les Miserables and I'm enjoying Notre Dame, but the man does go on. And on. And on and on. Somebody said on another group that Romantic writers had a policy of never using one word when you could use 50.
Welcome, Gaijinmama! I admit I don't have patience for that kind of writing where the author just goes on and on and never gets where he's headed.

Yea the Harry Potter books are amazing. I am in the middle of book 4 and i have never watched the movies. Also, very intersting about Snape. I have never heard someone say that before, def a first. =)

OK, this thread is officially hijacked!
Snape is a fascinating character, and he has a huge cult following on the Internet, even a group here at Goodreads, but what first got me hooked was Alan Rickman's portrayal of Snape in the films. He had me at "Missssssster Potter!" (his very first line...aaaaahhhh, that voice! Swoon, drool thud!!)

Hi Nicole, i thought it was a sequel. ^_^ But I will still read them anyways. I like books that is a gripping read. :)) more sleepless nights! :))

Don't expect anything like Jane Eyre, though. The style is completely different.
