Keep promising I’ll read more classics but don’t know where to start.
I’m a geek so love my non-fiction.

I have been trying to read more classics so I am hoping this group will broaden my horizons.
I am from the U.S. and my focus this year is to find new to me classics from around the world. I just finished The Time Regulation Institute by Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar.
I will participate in monthly reads and look forward to lively discussions. If anyone has suggestions for works from countries that are not on the literary lists of most westerners I would be thrilled to try them.
Welcome Beth. Occasionally this group will have special themed months where we select books that are non-European when originally written. Other times, we will nominate only books NOT originally written in English. Of course, that is when we get mostly French books translated into English, like Dumas, Camus, etc!

Hello Nancy, welcome to the group! I just put up the nomination pages this morning for June, if there's a book that we've already read on the bookshelf from before June 2016 and is on your tbr, nominate it for our June read (we have a couple of other rules which you'll find there as well).
For our unread classic nomination, we have an LGBT theme as it will be Pride Month. This can be for the theme of the book or an author that is LGBT. I've posted a couple of links in the comments to useful websites for ideas. Feel free to add your nomination there.
(Also... yayyy for another person from the UK!)

As well as giving fellow Jane Austen fans the very latest Jane Austen related news, we also aim to let you know about items that might be of interest, even if they are not directly linked to Austen.
On that note, we have two book recommendations which we thought the group, as fans of classic authors such as Austen, might like to read (after reading Austen’s novels of course!).
The first is Belinda by Maria Edgeworth. Our other recommendation for this week is A Lady of Quality by Francis Hodgson Burnett.
