I'm Sarah from Canada. I have been a reader for as long as I can remember. My favourite classicist is Charles Dickens, although lately I've really enjoyed several Russian works (In the First Circle being particularly fantastic).
I'm looking forward to using this group to work through some of the more difficult pieces, like Ulysses -- I'm on my third attempt

I am Jennifer and I live in North Carolina. I am just starting my love for classics. I am looking forward to being in this group.

I haven't read many classics but I look forward to participating in this group!

Middlemarch that I have been putting off for a long time.

Welcome to Goodreads and to our group. You are welcome to join the discussion of Gone With the Wind any time.

We are always beginners when it come to reading the classics. Keeping that in mind and despite the fact I am 60 years old and have have been working my way through the classic texts since grammar school I think may enjoy this group.

Hi everybody. My name is Traci and I'm a native of California. And I read pretty much anything I can get my hands on. But my go to genres tend to be fantasy, horror, historical, and classic literature. And any in between. I have a great horde of books to get to and I have made it a goal to finally get through my ever expanding to be read list. Or as I think of it, "My Bucket List of Books". One part of this goal is to read all those classics I always meant to.
My favorite classics tend to be the darker ones. I love gothic tales, horrors, and tragedies. Dracula. Frankenstein. The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. The Phantom of the Opera. Jane Eyre. I also love big epics like Les Miserables. But I also enjoy the romance of Jane Austen. And children's books such as Alice in Wonderland, which is a favorite of mine.

I have joined the challenge to read/listen to 5 Classics in 2015. I just finished Wuthering Heights and am starting Pride and Prejudice, a monthly selection from another group. I look forward to expanding my horizons with all of you!

Hi Susie, I hope you achieve your goal. You've certianly started with some of the best!

This year I have read Dracula(which I loved) and The Haunted book shop by Christopher Morley.
Welcome Matt and Kris! You are both welcome to join our discussion in June when we read Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy. Read it before you see the movie! Matt, many of our readers listen to the books instead of actually reading them. Would that be easier for you?

Welcome, Catherine! There are so many great free classic books available as ebooks. You'll have fun filling up your Kindle!

I am in a similar situation. I've been a "member" for a long time but haven't been an active participant at all. I hope to have more time for this in the near future. I've loved Classic Lit. since I was a kid and have read a good sized fraction of the genre, but I hope to find more recommendations here.
