I am really looking forward to getting to know the classics. But i must admit..... i have a hard time with the 'proper English'. i just read "Les Mis" and have to confess it was the 'today's reader' version. i have tried to read the original texts on a couple of classics and have had a really hard time. Maybe because I am busy and want to know the 'quick and dirty' version of the story rather than the 850 page version. Anyways, i hope a group like this will help me learn to love the 'real' classics.

Welcome to Nina, Michelle and Rin. Next month, we are reading The Moonstone, which is one of the first detective novels published.

That's so exciting.....I've been wanting to read The Moonstone for a long time!

(Sorry for my English, my first language is Hungarian, and I only started to study English in high school so I'm not so good with the grammar.)
Welcome, Kinga. You can read with us when you have the time. I don't think any of us read every selection, so join us when you can. Do you read the books in English or Hungarian?

Welcome Kinga, your English is excellent!!

Arlene: Thank you very much!

Some of my favorite classics are Persuasion (which I'm currently reading), Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and more. And many more that I want to read.

I am Ray and i'm from Indonesia. I'm just interested in some of Japanese classics, especially from Natsume Soseki (i know him from Haruki Murakami - one of my beloved writers).
And i'm trying to start to read another classics, maybe from US or UK too.
Hi everyone!
I'm Christine, a 21 year old from South Australia. I absolutely love reading and enjoy books from all types of genres. I thought joining this group would be a good idea to get into some more classics, I've read a few but not enough for my liking! :) Some of my favourites so far are David Copperfield, Les Miserables and To Kill A Mockingbird. Looking forward to reading many more! :)

My name is Mike and I'm on this site as part of a requirement for a graduate school symposium focused on classical literature (light bulb?)!
My definition of classical literature is probably 2,000 years older than most people in this group, but broadening one's horizons never hurts. I have a Master's degree in history and I'm getting another one in Education, so here's to hoping my time on here will be fruitful.
Social media isn't fun without friends and, as such, I like to add everyone I talk to so I can get a grasp of what's going on in the world. Social barometrics, if you will. Please feel free to add me (if I haven't already added you!) and we can talk about whatever.
My school book review twitter account is @MJABooks, and I'll follow anyone back who follows me.
I study at Temple University, love hockey and didn't read Harry Potter until last summer (the movies were forced on us in 5th grade and I couldn't stand the Sorcerer's Stone). Any other questions, feel free to ask!

I'm Federica, 24, from Italy!
I like all genres of books but I really really want to explore more classics!
:)

I'm Thiashya (pronounced tee-ash-ah) and I live in Hong Kong. Having had almost no free time during my last two years of high school, I am furiously trying to make up for it this summer. I read almost everything, but particularly enjoy classics and dystopian novels. Feel free to add me!

My favorite so far is Jane Eyre. It took me about two days and I couldn't put it down!

I get lots of time to read and its always good to hear what others are reading.
Good to be here, thanks.

My favorite classics are Vanity Fair, The Glass Bead Game, Pride and Prejudice and my #1 pick (at the moment) is Jane Eyre

I'm Latifa from Saudi Arabia , I love classics but I read almost everything . I've read my first classic when I was 16 -in Aarabic- it was Jane Eyre since then I became a fan of the Brontë's and the whole Victorian novels :))
I'm so happy to be here with you <3

My name is Chantal, I'm from Germany and English is my second language.
One of my favourites are Hermann Hesse and Oscar Wilde.
I'd really like to get more knowledge on classic literature (in both languages) and I'm really happy to have found this site.
Happy reading!

I'm Annaïg (strange breton name),16 years old and very please to meet you !
In school I fell in love with the British langage and since then I have tried to read in english. I have just started reading classics and thus far my favorites are "Wutherings Heights", "Jane Eyre","Of Mice and Men".I also love reading classic children literature : "Anne of Green Gables", "Little women", "Peter Pan"...
Thanks to booktubers, I have discovered Goodreads and it's amazing ! This is the best book related website I have ever seen. I am very eager to exchange opinions with other book lovers, especially about classics.
P.S: Please feel free to correct me as english is not my first langage (it's french).

i must admit i know absolutely nothing about literature or culture from Hungary but I really look forward to some spirited interactions with you in the very near future. God bless. Bob Berry
