I've thought about it and I've decided to reduce my goal to 30,000 for the year...
Lets not get too hasty about it right? :)

Ah Niecole, come on. I've just checked your stats and it says you've already read 30000 pages this year. Are your stats wrong or do you read more then you think ;)
I'm still trying to finish two books before the first of january so I can start fresh. If I don't manage to finish them I will count from where I was in the books and as stated in the previous thread my goal is going to be 50000 pages.

I dont know how to check my stats :)
I think I do read more than I realise. Also I think I'm to scared to bind myself to so many pages as I'll be working and studying again next year and I might have to cut back on some reading (for pleasure)

Crusader found it the other day and told us about it. It's on your profile page under your bookshelves it says clouds/stats/more. If you click on stats it gives you how many books you've read last year and you can choose the option to see how many pages it's real fun. I know what you mean. I'm unemployed at the moment and as soon as I start working again it will cut into my reading time. So better set a realistic goal and later on if you see that it's going to be too easy you can always add a couple of thousand pages.
Thanks Barbara, I'm checking it out now
Yeah, I love to read, but I'll have to study really hard next year :)

How do we deal with Kindle or pdf editions?
If a book only has a Kindle edition, how would it relate page wise?

That's a tough one. I'm not sure how a Kindle's pagination works. For normal ebooks with a printed equivalent the printed MMPB should be used.
Perhaps look at the number of Kindle pages of a book that has a MMPB available as well and then work out the ratio between 'e-pages' and the MMPB and then use that to work out what the printed value of the ebook should have been.

Ok I just checked random book's normal and kindle editions against each other:
1. exact same
2. 9 % more than kindle
3. 1.5 % more than kindle
4. 2.5% more than kindle
5. exact same
6. 9% LESS than kindle
7. 1.5% morethan kindle
So i'm at a loss lol

Does it show a page number of 'position'?
Found something from the Kindle 2 that says you need to divide the position number by 16.69 to get roughly to the printed page number.

Then I don't know. Thumbsuck a number?

Does kindle give a word count for the books you read? For a general paperback/pocketbook novel they say there is an average word count of about 300 words a page. Some say 250 but some also say 350. So take the middle and let's say 300. This takes in account white spaces on a page. So if kindle gives a word count divide it by 300 and you should be good.

Why ask how to handle Kindle pages then?
What format is the ebook in? I've found that ePub has page numbers that come pretty close to the printed editions.

Lol sorry for the confusion
It only comes in a Kindle edition on goodreads and I got a pdf.
I assumed they are they same and would show the same on the Kindle?

No. PDF isn't actually strictly speaking an ebook format. The PDF is designed to show pages as it would look in print. With a Kindle (and any other reader) the page size is determined by the physical size of the screen. So one PDF page might translate into two Kindle pages, depending on various factors (font, screen size etc).
The ePub format has a standardized page size across all readers. I think it works on number of words. So I can read an ePub on my PC, take note of the page I'm on and then read further from that page on my reader. I can also tell someone to go check out page x, if they have the same ebook regardless of the reader they are using.

Kk. Just no printed edition, so i'm just going to assume its what it would be if it was printed :)
The goal of the page fiend challenge is to set yourself a goal of reading a certain number of pages in 365 days. The number needs to be a personal challenge for you, so no easy goals - challenge yourself.
For ebooks the paperback page count can be used.
