Michael (edifanob) Hello,

since the first time I saw this group I knew I would end here :)

First of all it's now 2:30 p.m. in Germany. I'm happy because I'm on holiday.
And now the time has come to offer you my story. It’s not that short but I hope you will forgive me :-)

So let’s start with gender and age.....
Questions concerning gender and age always remembers me When I'm sixty four by The Beatles:
"When I get older losing my hair many years from now..."

OK I try to turn the corner....

I'm 49 young/old happily married guy and father of a 16 years old daughter. And we all three share our life with two crazy cats - a tomcat called Pablo and a she-cat called Lili. Please look at:
http://legolasperlenuniversum.blogspo...

Since 1991 I work as a programmer for the German subsidiary of a Japanese company. In the meantime I 'm member of the European IT of the company. So from time to time I visit other subsidiaries in order to work together with my European colleagues.

I like to read fantasy, sleuth, steampunk, mystery and also other if they are interesting...
But mostly I read fantasy and mystery.

Beside reading I like
- to visit medieval fairs and markets
- hear music (olides from the sixties, pagan-metal, gothic, and mor)
- play games on PC, PS2, Wii

Since I'm member of Goodreads I had to stop playing because my time is limited.

Favourite games
PS2: Final Fantasy series
WII: Zelda, Super Mario Galaxy, Lego Indiana Jones..
PC: The Witcher, Oblivion, Morrowind, Anno 1702

Last movies I watched: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull , Nim's Island, X-Files: I want to believe

I wait for: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian , The Dark Knight, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Best book I read so far in 2008: The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Beside this group I'm also member of The Mystery of Victiorian England. We read books of Anne Perry.

My favourite town is London. 2007 my wife and I spent one week in London. We will go again for two weeks in 2009.

I also like to go shopping. My wife likes it.

My picture shows a female archer. I have a tattoo of this archer on my left calf.

In former times I was a shy boy and I was used to give one word answers: YES, NO, MAYBE. Nowadays I like to communicate. Some times I feel like a chatterbox. So if you are interested in send me a message.

My profile name has a deeper meaning.
When you read it backwards you get Bona Fide which means:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_faith

MY TBR LIST CONTAINS 972 BOOKS.

Ah, I forgot to mention: I'm a fan of quotes

QUOTE
You will never be alone with a poet in your pocket.

John Adams, Instructions to his son Johnny in the biography "John Adams" by David McCullough (p. 19)
US diplomat & politician (1735 - 1826)

Thank you for reading my story so far.

I will come to an end and let you go to write your own story....

Kirsty (kirstyreadsandcreates) | 610 comments Hi Edifanob, welcome to the group. I'd relish the fact that your TBR pile is too small while you have the chance, because before long you'll be saying it's too big - we like to recommend in the group lol

The Book Whisperer (aka Boof) Hi Edifanob, welcome!

So happy that you love England. I live in Yorkshire in the north. When you are in London for 2 weeks next year you should hop on a train to York (3 hours by train) - if you like medieval England this is definitely the place for you - cobbled streets, tudor buildings, surrounded by castle walls still, it's just amazing.

Hope you enjoy this group.

message 4: by Jen (new)

Jen | 278 comments Whoa. I thought my TBR list was bad. Welcome to the group Edifanob! We're glad to have you.

message 5: by Marsha (new)

Marsha Welcome Edifanob!

That is quite a TBR list- mine is guaranteed to grow now. I love to read fantasy.

Lori (tnbbc) | 10621 comments Mod
Well, Edifanob... You can certainly never die with a TBR list that long!!! Thanks for sharing you story with us and hope to see you around the threads!

message 7: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) Thank you all for your warm welcome.

I spent know 8 hours in front of my PC at home.
I need a break. Yoou will see me later around the threads

message 8: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

Lori (tnbbc) | 10621 comments Mod
Btw, my 10 year old son would love you simply for the fact that you like Final Fantasy!

message 9: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) Lori,

my 16 year old daughter loves Final Fantasy too.

Since last week I play Leog Indiana Jones for Wii once per day.

You are never to old to play and to read.

Anyway I need a break now. see you

message 10: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty (kirstyreadsandcreates) | 610 comments hmm... ok so I made my comment without looking at your TBR list... now I see you were being ironic, hehe

message 11: by Marsha (new)

Marsha I play FF with my 15 year old. Our favorites are VIII and X.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

He was being ironical

message 13: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 1128 comments Marsha, you're my new favorite person. Everyone else I know hates FF VIII.

The Book Whisperer (aka Boof) What kind of rodents? I love rats. My teacher in middle school (probably your equivalent of 1st grade) had a pet rat who used to be let out every morning and run round the classroom. We used to feed it crisps under the desk. Ah, the memories.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Welcome, good sir.

The Book Whisperer (aka Boof) We had guinea pigs when I was a child. Now I have 4 cats (one of them being Boof - you'll be glad to hear it's not actually my real name, LOL).

message 17: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) So, I'm back after my break.

Leppaluoto,
we have had guinea pigs in our last rental unit.
We had to give away them because we didn't get permission to keep them in our new rewntal unit.

I didn't find a translation for logomorphs but I think you menat lagomorphs :)

I like animals as long as the have not more than 4 legs.

Beside this I'm also a friend of stuffed anmials.
These are my two favorites:
- A red dragon which I bought 2007 in London
- An octopus which I bought 2006 in Berlin

message 18: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) Hi Kirsit and Jeremy,

I'm a little bit ironic from time to time.

You both are quite clever persons :)

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Edifanob. And by the way welcome and nice to "meet" you.

message 20: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) Jeremy, nice to "meet" you too. I can't type that fast because I never learned ten finger system.

message 21: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) Leppaluoto,

no problem. To be honest I never use a spell checker :)

So your dwarf rabbit is a small one.

I thin it's impossible to train your rabbit to behave like this cat:

message 22: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) Leppaluoto,

you confuse me. Xou told you have a Netherland dwarf rabbit.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netherla...

Am I right?

A big rabbit for example is

And this a picture:
http://cdn.channel.aol.com/aolnews_ph...

The Book Whisperer (aka Boof) Actually Boof is only my cat's nickname (the plot thickens). Her real name is Phoebe (as in Phoebe Boofay from Friends cos she's abit dippy). But you're right, it IS a fine name!

message 24: by Sherry (new)

Sherry It's a good name Boof.My lovie's(cat)name is Blinkey. It took quite a while for us to name this little rascal but we noted that when ever we had to threaten him with the spritzer for naughty behaviour(climbing the christmas tree, climbing the curtains, scrating the furniture, climbing people,ect,ect...)he would do this adoreable blinking in anticipation of the squirt of water. The name has stuck ever since.

Welcome Edifanob. That is quite the wishlist you have there. It makes me feel that mine is almost meager in comparison.

message 25: by Marsha (new)

Marsha Logan- With that storyline? How could they possibly not like FFVIII? My teen is a big anime fan and we have a ball with these characters.

Lori (tnbbc) | 10621 comments Mod
Ok, no one commented on the size of that rabbit??!!! Holey Crap, I see why it was sold as food to stave of hunger in poverty stricken areas... Geeesh!

message 27: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) Lori,
maybe people have been deeply impressed by the size of the rabbit that they forgot to comment :)

Does anyone have a were-rabbit at home?
http://www.starstore.com/acatalog/Wer...

I forgot to mention my favorite FF games:
FFIX, FFX

message 28: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Whoa,Lori, that is a huge rabbit.Could it be partly the camera angle?

message 29: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) Sherry,

I poste the picture and to be honest: This is a real rabbit.

Here is a short video:
http://www.theinsider.com/videos/6601...

message 30: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) If you still don't believe, please have a look at following link:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/artic...

message 31: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Thanks Edifanob,I was just commenting on Lori's comment.I do think that the rabbit in the picture does look much bigger due to camera angle though obviously, from the clip that's still a really big rabbit!

message 32: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) Ups! Sorry Sherry didn't want to disturb your conversation with Lori.

message 33: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

Lori (tnbbc) | 10621 comments Mod
Silly Rabbit... You're being bred for food... Awwww... that breaks my heart. You guys heard about the giant pet pig that a farmer let go into the wild, and someone came along and shot the thing dead, thinking it was a boar????

And we wonder why our kids are all bigger and taller in this day and age then they were back in the day.... Its in the food people! Its in the food!

message 34: by Sherry (last edited Jul 31, 2008 03:27PM) (new)

Sherry Ahhh, poor kitty! Not to worry Edifanob. You weren't intruding at all.I was just explaining how I seemed to be rudely excluding you from your own post.Sorry :)

message 35: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) Lori, where did this happen?
I didn't readd about it in German newspapers.

message 36: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) Leppaluoto, thank you for explanation.

Concerning the cat: THAT IS ANIMAL ABUSE !!!

Sherry, I don't mind. You know I'm a newbie and will learn "the rules" :)

Now it's after midnight in Germany. FOrtunately I don't have to get up urly in the morning.

message 37: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 1128 comments Not to get in the way of anyone's animal love, but have any of you FF fans seen the trailers for FF XIII?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmQ4V5...

It's also going to be the first FF game that's not exclusively for the PS. I'm kind of giddy with excitement that they're putting it on the 360, though I have very deep love for the PS3 and wish it got more respect.

message 38: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 1128 comments Plus: It doesn't hurt that the guy in the skullcap and motorcycle kind of looks like Sawyer from Lost.

Here is a link for a different pig, having trouble finding the article about the pet one.

EDIT: its the same pig, this article actually states that its a domesticated farm pig...

poor little piggy

message 41: by Marsha (new)

Marsha Hmmm... Sawyer....(LOST in thought)

oh yeah!

I still only have a PS2. I am thinking seriously of switching to a Wii. I need to upgrade something.

Can u believe, living in a house with two boys and a hubby addicted to games, that we have a Wii, PSP, PS3, Xbox 360 and two Gamboy SP's??? No wonder we are constantly broke. He seems to think this balances out my book buying habits... haa haa.. Yeah Right!

message 43: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 1128 comments I think that just means you get to buy more books...

message 45: by Michael (new)

Michael (edifanob) Hallo Isabella,

to be honest when I got to know my wife in 1987 I was a really shy guy.
I'm really happy that I was able to change myself with some support from my wife.
I think nowadays you can call me a chatterbox.
The older I get the more words I use :-))

If you take a look at my friends list you will recognise, that most of my friends are female.
And the reason for this:
Women are more talkative than men. Ok there are always few exceptions.
Most of my message I write to friends are quite long (3000 up to 6000 characters). You know there is this funny character counter under the comment box - Maximum length of a comment is 8000 characters!!!

So if you like to talk with me more private add me to your friends list :-))
I DON'T BITE

Es ist ungewohnt für mich hier jemanden zu treffen, der auch Deutsch spricht.
Ich glaube auch, das ich mich hier sehr wohl fühlen werde. Eigentlich habe ich nur ein Problem: ZEIT !!!)

Most of my friends are from foreign countries.
You're the first one from Netherlands.
Hartelijk welkom Isabella
