in the bottom left corner of the box in which the question is asked is a little grey link called "flag". If you click that and click "flag as incorrect" you can enter a comment about how the question is wrong. Once you submit the comment, you will be directed to the trivia question page and there will be a link to edit, unflag, or delete the question at the top.

Any question that was posted without a book link (which is at the question-writer's discretion) will not get tagged by the "trivia in my books".

What's the status of that anyway?
I understand the need to edit questions, but I do get annoyed when I have to answer questions more than once, not the duplicates which is another matter, because they've been given some minor edit.

"Once you submit the comment, you will be directed to the trivia question page and there will be a link to edit, unflag, or delete the question at the top."
sorry, the directions were assuming you were a librarian. Are you? If not, just flag them and leave a comment saying what's wrong, and i'm sure some librarian will see them and correct the mistakes.

I was going to correct the spelling of 'Judiasm' in the following question:
http://www.goodreads.com/trivia/show/...
I clicked 'flag' and got a fly out box saying 'Mark the question as incorrect, mark this question as a spoiler, flag as offensive'.
If I, as normal, clicked mark as incorrect, I get 'Please explain why you believe this question is inaccurate or a spoiler'. The button says, 'Mark question as incorrect or a spoiler'.
The only other link is, 'Back to the question'.
Is is it possible that I have Librarian status but no privileges to correct questions only books?
you have to complete the page that says "mark question as incorrect or spoiler"
just type in why it's incorrect, then click the "Mark as incorrect" button
Once you do that, if you have answered/skipped the question already, you will be directed to the "details" page for that question and will see the "fix it, mark as correct, or delete it" box
If you haven't answered/skipped the question yet, do so, and then when it shows up on the left sidebar, click "details"

The book reference is wrong as it's suppose to be Stephen King's The Stand but the reference is 'Breaking Dawn'. I was wondering why a book I haven't read showed up in 'trivia about my books' :P Could someone fix that?
I also have a question for advice/opinion. I'm easily insecure you see.
Yesterday I submitted a question about a character's death. Although the death was close to the end, I didn't percieve it as a spoiler because I felt it to be natural and a bit minor. However, I am unsure and do you think I should change that question to something else? (since we can't delete).
"The Stand" trivia question was fixed.
As to your other question, whether or not a trivia question is a spoiler is usually a matter of opinion. As a guideline I usually read the back cover/dust jacket flaps, and if the event is specifically listed on there, it's not a spoiler.
The alternative is to ask some people who have read the book what they think.
There is no reason to be insecure, as long as your trivia question is not about Twilight, people will love it :-)

Well like I said, it's a matter of opinion. One could say that any question outside of "what is the title" or "who is the author" is a spoiler.
Book covers might give away more of the plot than some people like, but most people do read them before reading the book so I would not consider anything on them to be a spoiler.

I flag it as incorrect and in the comment box I write 'insert link'. Then I click on 'fix it' and insert the link. When I click 'edit' nothing happens and the page times out giving me an 'oops' error message. I've gone back to review the ones I've flagged and 9 out of 10 times another librarian has had to clean up after me because the flag sticks but the correction does not.
What am I doing wrong?
:-( I have no clue!
I just went back and added links to one of the questions you had flagged and it worked fine for me.

Is there a standard for adding the links? I have seen diffent ways of doing it. Some people add the link in to the question in the appropiate place. Others are asking the question, then inserting hyperlinks below the question.
Personally prefer the first option but guidance would be appreicated
Thanks

What is the name of the villain in Cornelia Funke's Inkheart?Inkheart
I would love to fix them all as I find them, but there are so many questions without any links at all that really should be fixed first.

I moved my mouse, accidently rolled over the name of the book, and the name and authors name popped up right in front of me.
May want to consider *not* adding the link to questions asking who the author is of a particular book...

I moved my mouse, accidentl..."
Holy Cow! You're so right! I feel guilty because I'm sure I've added links....I'll have to start at the beginning again.
Think I'll add the link to the comment box to show after the answer. Would that work just as well?
Yes that will link the question to the book, without showing the link to people until they have answered. It'll work great.

I think I see what you're talking about. The link says "Ulysses" but links to the book "the Odyssey". Maybe someone accidentally combined the books?
Fixed it. The problem was that when you search for "Ulysses" to add the book link, the Odyssey is the first book that comes up and must have been clicked by accident.

I have another question
Triva question that is a spoiler - telling of some ones death, has >100 responses - is it possible for a super user to delete it?
http://www.goodreads.com/trivia/detai...

While the author of the question may not like certain books and be fed up with the number of questions added reqarding those books, and is entitled to their opinion, this is a site for all readers and I personally don't think it is appropiate to do this in the trivia section.

It could be I've forgotten how to get further as I gave up Trivia a long time ago, lost in the welter of Twilight and Uncle questions.

To be able to edit the question you have to answer it first ( for whatever reason). Then you have to go to the details page and from there you will get a link to either "Fix, Delete, Mark as Correct".
Or if you go to the trivia page and select browse link, 1/2 way down the page is a "Keep Triva tidy" link.
If the author of a question is contactable I send them a message asking them to review out of courtsey and give them 3 - 5days to respond/ sort it out. I have done this for this question.
Re: Paula (message 36)
I don't usually fix or delete those questions myself, but it does really bother me as well when non-serious answers to trivia questions blatantly insult other books. There are plenty of other places on this website to talk about how much you don't like certain books, but trivia is for everyone.
Re: Petra
To answer your first question, I don't think that marking as a spoiler and marking as incorrect actually do anything different. You probably did click "mark as spoiler".
Unfortunately, the answers to most trivia questions are spoilers to someone who hasn't read the book. I usually try to avoid answering any kind of trivia for a book until I have read it. While this is inconvenient, if it was not so than anyone would be able to answer the questions, not just people who had read the book which might defeat the purpose of the trivia.
It's good that Paula asked the author to review the question, but in my opinion the only questions that are really spoilers are the ones which give away a plot point in the question itself, spoiling the book for anyone who reads it, not just those who answer it.

I've wondered the same thing. I came across a question where one of the answers was something like, "Enough with that Jane Austen *itch already!" I blinked a few times, thought about flagging and then saw how many people had responded positively to that one answer and decided to leave it alone. It felt like a fine line between that person's inappropriate answer and the possibility of me being accused of censorship.
Just because Jane Austen is dead doesn't mean cyber bullying doesn't hurt ;-)
There are other places for people to say the things they want about books, places where they are encouraged to insult books they didn't like. But the trivia isn't that place. Especially since the trivia is frequented by children and sometimes used as a teaching tool.
If the comments were in any way constructive i would think twice, but i don't think insults fall under censorship. I say delete.

I found it easily, by searching for the phrase in question. I've had lots of problems with the author of that question writing other mean and malicious questions, answers, and comments.

Maybe if that guy's being a problem he should be flagged? Or do the powers-that-be see flags on the trivia? I'm not sure if that's just something for librarians to take care of.
I'm not sure you can flag a person, rather than a question.
OTOH, you could drop Otis or Jessica a note.

1) Incorrect
2) The author is not accepting messages to change them
3)Have an inappropiate answer in the answers

sometimes, if the question itself is a good one, you can just change the inappropriate answer to a nicer one.
as of now, the only one left is
http://www.goodreads.com/trivia/detai...
has anyone done any research into this? sometimes people mark the questions as wrong and are mistaken.
all of the rest have had the inappropriate answers deleted and have been marked correct
