I'll keep that in mind I have a few sketches done for me by Jane, the lady who did the original drawings for TBL!

Eva King | 1071 comments Hey, did you ever ask that literary agent if she could edit the anthology? If you haven't don't worry, i'll see if I can get a student who would be willing to do it for free.

No I didn't sorry I completely forgot about it with all the hooha over the book, she's been very quiet of late too no tips, always worry when people go quiet that they might have kicked the bucket!

I'll go into the group and leave a message for her to contact me! No notifications again, that and I've been playing on twitter, I got out of jail by unloading all the freeloaders I followed who in three months hadn't followed back! A manage filter I left those who like me are over the limit and suffering sometime this week I will send them a link, kinda like a get out of jail free card!

I've never been on twitter, it sounds fun!
I've contacted a girl who is editing as part of her degree so hopefully she will email me back. I've also posted to a couple of groups, at the moment it doesn't look like editors are very charitable...

I posted a note to Tina, explaining the book was for charity, just have to wait and see who gets back to us first!

Twitter is fun once you get the hang of getting all you need to say into 140 characters!

Eva King | 1071 comments that sounds good. How are you dealing with the heat? Im a bit fed up now, cant sleep; cant do anything without melting.

message 4009: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Its cooled down here a bit today, and the last couple of days there's been a breeze, so it hasn't felt to bad. Alain and our friend are finishing the rendering today on the house, he was going to do it tomorrow but they've forecast rain tomorrow.

Alain has been working like a trojan to try and get the upstairs insulated ready for the electrician coming in to do the preliminary wiring and the plumber to lay the pipes before the plasterer comes in and does his bit! We are going to fetch the internal doors next week, we already have the handles.

No I rent the house I'm living in now, the new house was Alain's grandmothers, it was a tiny little one up one down cottage with an earth floor, no bathroom, no running water, no toilet and 11 people were living in it up until 1964!

It's now a 3 bedroomed, 2 bathroomed cottage with large lounge and huge kitchen, (the whole downstairs of the original cottage)is my kitchen!

No, I can understand that Eva I've lived in flats though both times I had a small garden so it wasn't so bad. At least I had somewhere to put the washing and the baby in his pram!

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Eva wrote: "Hey, i was just wondering. How long have been writing You really seem to know the stuff."

I finished The Thin Blue Line way back in September 2010, so I have been writing seriously for a little over two years. Before that I tinkered around with it,and never actually finished anything worth reading except for my poetry.

Then I took a massive leap and decided to enter TBL into a writing competition and try it out on a few publishers too and it just snowballed from there.

I started a writing course and, I may one day finish it, if I find the time between writing and looking after my family and twitter!

message 4018: by Eva (new)

Eva King | 1071 comments Which course is it? Do you recomend it? Today I have spring cleaning, even though I'm sweating while doing it, I've a couple of beasties running under my bed last night so need to get them out before they multiplicate. YUK!

Yuk exactly, the course was the complete writer it is a correspondence course with a diploma at the end of it with no time limit or there wasn't but I suppose 9 years is a long time and I still haven't got past the first book!

Its raining here today and windy too and there was me watering the plants last night!

The Complete Writer, sit down and get your breath back, rushing round in the temperatures you get is bad for your health! It's still raining here glad I went and rescued my washing or by now it would have been dripping wet!

message 4024: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Well I have given up trying to write for today, Sophie's friend is staying tonight and I'm not sure I will stay the course! So far they've munched their way through Mars Bars, several Nutella sandwiches and packets of sweets. Have argued over what programme they are watching until I solved the problem by switching the television off. Now they are upstairs, and it's reasonably quiet so god knows what they're up to now!

That will teach me to volunteer to child sit! I'm praying for a hot sunny day tomorrow at least then I will get some peace while they are in the splash pool!

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Morning Eva

How are you today, I have heard back from the Literary Agency/Publishers they have offered me two contracts a vast improvement on last time looks like all my work on Twitter and Facebook has paid off! If I'd have pushed that little bit harder I may have secured a standard contract.

The contract that is pulling me is the pre sell contract whereby I pay them a small fee they print 100 books and I have to sell them before they will print any more, they give me a website professionally designed as my selling point if I sell 1000 books I get a bonus and a contract. All I need now are 100 people to buy my book! Time to start promoting Light the Seventh Candle too I think. Bummer new website 'Sarah's Wall' I'll start this afternoon!

What the SBPRA? Sorry I got hit by spy bots and trojans again, luckily for me I am directly connected to Microsoft for my virus protection as soon as they hit it went to work and quarrantined them.

It got me just after I clicked on the link so I'm a bit wary to click on it again.

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Thanks for that Eva, Well looks like its back to the drawing board then, once bitten with Raider twice shy, will keep on looking. No wonder they are so keen! Being sued for 5,000,000 by the Attorney General would make them keen to make their money back!

That's great news Eva I have sent out a query email to one of the agencies on the list who take new authors. Thanks for sending it to me I am waiting to hear from another group who help new authors find literary agents too! If their work is up to standard that is!

Nice one!!! At least you get all the profit, it's meant to be pretty easy to do, and with createspace (company owned by amazon) you can print it in paperback which it will en up being POD, and it won't cost you a pennie! That's what we are doing for the anthology...

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 104 comments Hmm posted this in the fantasy section of the GR Round table but maybe some on here who muight not be there.

So I decide to write a little fantasy short about the balance of time and had this nice little funny story planned- what i get through my fingers is this deep and meaningful cosmic tale which i now don't know how to end.

Anyone else have stories which write themselves?

Oh well somethin will come to me for the ending and maybe I can do the one I planned.
Damned internal storytelling not behaving again:)

so writers block eh? I think give a day or so, something will come out. I don't why I find it easier to think at night time before going to sleep, but then im too lazy to write them down and by morning time i've forgotten...

Well I figured I may as well pocket 100% seeing as how am doing my own publicity for both books simultaneously and I still haven't received my free books nor my ebook they promised either I think I am going to have to go back to threatening them with the lawsuit again! I keep all my emails so I only have to remind them I have it in black and white that's as good as a contract because it was a personal email from Adam Salviani himself, not one of his minions. Hey I bought myself a Spanish dictionary today, well it will be more for Sophie next year, I thought seeing as I have loads of Spanish followers on Twitter it would be nice to know what they are saying. I can translate some bits easily my vocabulary is a bit lacking rather how I started off with French. They say once you master French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese comes easy. Lol we'll see!

Lol all the time, I woke up with an outline for a new story this morning, I have two titles and great ideas for the covers - oh and Alain had a nightmare he said he was attacked by an otter in his sleep that started me thinking of an end of the world type novel. I'll play around with both the ideas I just hope I will have enough time in my life left to write them all!

message 4046: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Morning All

Alain elaborated on his otter dream last night, made me howl with laughter at the thought of these timid little creatures attacking him! Though what if they were rabid. Better get him an anti rabies for dreams shot!

Eva King | 1071 comments Hey, just to let you know Emme wants to do the first round of editing for the 8th of september just in case there is something to fix theres plenty of time to do it, so if you could make up that short story into a xmas one, that would be perfect

message 4049: by Eva (new)

Eva King | 1071 comments Just a quick question, this are the guidelines on how she wants the stories
12 point Times Roman, left justified, 1" margins all around, double spaced, paragraph indents, no space between paragraphs. Place your name, title, and the page number in the header on each manuscript page.

what is 1" in centimetres? What does mean left justified? and paragraph indents? god I feel like a right fool!

Hi Eva

Soggy bed, how horrible I have been very lucky Sophie was late getting dry she was almost 3 but once she mastered daytime nightime followed a couple of days later. She has (touch wood) never wet the bed since!

Okay my publishers demand my manuscripts 4 centimetres margin all round, just double click on the margin numbers on word and a box will appear and you can make all your margins 4.cms. Double spacing is a standard request that can be found on the toolbar at the top along with 4 boxes, the first of which is align left the second is centre third align right and last is justify. Justify makes the whole page even. YOu nee the first box align left.

For paragraph indents use your tab key on your keyboard. The page number you will find on insert on the toolbar at the top 12 Times Roman is up there on the toolbar too!

I will take a look at the story later today and Christmas it up a little, it's a bit on the gory side, a ghostly tale, how many words again? I seem to think 5000 was mentioned yes or no?

I now have 1732 Twitter followers including my mate Rocket Ron Haslam, three times World Champion Motorcyclist, we lived in the same village and went to the same schools. Or rather I went to school and Ron bunked off to ride his motorbike across the pithills. I dare bet our teachers never dreamed the two of us would become famous, I think they expected us to be infamous!
