Sharon wrote: "I love quiche. What is smoked lardons and gruyere?"Lardons are Smoked bacon pieces and gruyere is a swiss cheese which here in France we use in place of cheddar!
You can make an amazing starter using a roll of goats cheese a baguette a packet of smoked bacon bits and a mixed green salad of young leaves and a simple vinaigrette. Wash your salad leaves (irrespective of the fact they say they're clean do it your life could depend on it!) Arrange a handful on a small plate in a mound cut three pieces of baguette not to thick or thin and lightly toast them on both sides meanwhile slice the cheese into decent sized rounds put a slice on each piece of toast, fry the bacon bits until crispy and golden put the cheesed rounds under a hot grill until just melting quickly arrange on top of the salad sprinkle with hot bacon bits and dress with vinaigrette serve immediately!
Sharon wrote: "Now that sounds lovely. You are making me hungry and I am on the slimfast diet."Sorry about that have it on your diet day off? Or use low fat cheese and dressing and drain your bacon bits on absorbent paper before chucking them at your salad should save a few calories!
Follow it by a healthy piece of poached salmon with lots of veggies and a fresh fruit salad!
Sharon wrote: "LOL - thanks will try that."Just because you are on a diet doesn't mean you can't eat nice stuff, it's all a question of balance. And one day I will take my own advice and do just that and until then I'll have my last digestive biscuit, McVities of course. Anglais mais tellement bonne! According to the advertising here!
Sharon wrote: "LOL - I still eat a lovely evenng meal. BBQ meat and salad tonight"Tonight I'm having smoked salmon and kiwi with bread and butter and maybe a natural greek yoghurt. Smoked salmon isn't expensive from Aldi and it is the best I've tasted! We have it at least once a week!
Sophie's taxi driver said to heat potato galettes in a frying pan gently top it with greek yoghurt and a slice of smoked salmon a piece of lemon and a teaspoon of salmon roe a piece of dill and a sprinkling of fresh chopped chives and tuck in!
You can buy the potato pancakes in Jewish stores they're called Latka's I believe.
Sorry I'm doing it again! Have an apple to stave off the munchies!
Sharon wrote: "DO you reckon you will actually get one from him?"Err no! He thinks he's got away with it though Sophie told him off last night for being mean to me!
Sharon wrote: "Good on Sophie - Girl Power!"Yep, he was very sheepish when she turned round and said that she hoped that he wasn't going to start shouting at mummy again tonight because he'd kept her awake and made her sad!
Sharon wrote: "Oh bless her."Yeah he doesn't like being shown up to be mean by a ten year old - I promised I would give serious consideration to riding lessons for her last birthday but because we came to England for Chris's wedding and had a weeks holiday I couldn't afford it. I think I will look into it starting in the Easter holidays. there is usually a days riding and stable training for under 20 euros they have activities every day of the Easter holiday it costs about 65 Euros for the week great in summer when they have two months off.!
Sharon wrote: "That sounds good. Don't think they have anything like that around here."No they go from 8.30 in the morning until 6.30 in the evening with lunch thrown in. You have a choice of sport events or crafts and visits you can pick and choose odd days too! She used to go in Normandy but for some reason I haven't done it here. I was going to send her on the riding day but the weather was attrocious leading up to and including the day. So fingers crossed for this coming holiday.
She is passionate about horses and fearless I am wary of horses, well they're huge! Jo used to like going riding too! She said I can have Hugo and Leon for the day and she will take Sophie riding for the day at the local stables I wonder who'll pay? I guess that will be me then!
I am giving serious consideration to pitching the new book to an Agent and I am looking at the list of possibles! Fingers crossed!
Sharon wrote: "My fingers are crossed. The book is brilliant so far."I told Jo that I thought it was the best yet - she said nothing like being modest mother!
Right well I had better was the breakfast pots and tidy up a little I have Sophie home for lunch today as her friend is off sick with the gastro and although her mum said she would fetch her I would prefer her not to go down with it!
Its a bug from Normandy all the children are dropping like flies I laughed and said if it was a Normandy bug Sophie may have immunity having lived there for 4 years! TTYL
Morning hunFinally I am able to switch my computer on they've both gone to the house. To plant the apple tree I bought him last Wednesday for our anniversary - what did I get - let me see - ah yes that'd be the usual - sweet f a! And if I'd have known what an arshole he was going to be on sunday I would have saved my 10 euros!
Hiya hun,I am slacking at the moment. I have not even opened up Chapter 10 at the moment. I will save it for lunch time as I am quite a bit busy. Had both consultants in yesterday doing double clinics each. They have got to busy lately, I am not having time to read! I will have to have a word with them ;o) I can't complain too much, they do spoil me at christmas and I get a few bottles of wine throughout the year when they go on holiday.

Did you find out where the house in France is yet? I have to be seen to be doing stuff today though looking at the weather I may be saved by the rain!
I changed a few bits in chapter 10 so I'll send you the new version later now I had better go and have a shower and wash the breakfast pots and prepare lunch before he who must be obeyed. 'In his dreams' comes back!LOL TTYL
One of my consultants has a house in Brittany and the other in Normandy. So not too far from yourself. :o)
Sharon wrote: "One of my consultants has a house in Brittany and the other in Normandy. So not too far from yourself. :o)"Normandy is 200 k from us Brittany is where I am which department? 29, 22 56 or 35?
56 and you are real close 22 not to far unless its on the coast 29 the same applies!
I just joined twitter as SarahRWeldon naturally its all Marian's fault she talked me into it. She said it was the place to be because himself had told her - but I get the feeling now she's getting addicted to that too!
Not too sure, I will have to find out. If you know of a clare Davey or Clare Burroughs (same person) that is who I work for.
Sharon wrote: "Not too sure, I will have to find out. If you know of a clare Davey or Clare Burroughs (same person) that is who I work for."Lol I know a Claire Davey - its my sister _ but no they are not the same person! How strange is that!
Sharon wrote: "Lol - Very strange"I know us both with the same name and knowing someone called Claire Davey - you don't have a sister called Christine too do you? Mum's name Jessie dad Kenneth?
I am planning something spectacular for chapter 13 - something to do with it being lucky for some and not others. Talking of luck I'd better check my lottery ticket from Monday and Euro millions from last night one never knows!
Stop press - as usual a great big fat 0 not a single number! On either!
Sharon wrote: "Phew - lol"If I knew where on my keyboard the eyebrows where I'd use them! But being as its a French re arranged into a querty I trip over stuff like that from time to time but as I don't use them I forget where I saw them!
I'm fast but not jet propelled! And tomorrow the restaurant re-opens while the builder makes the window in the kitchen and puts the doorway through to the bedroom and bathroom!
Sharon wrote: "LMAO - So what do we have planned for the menu tomorrow."That depends on Alain if he forgets the potatoes again it will be something with pasta - what I have no idea -we had rice and pork stroganoff today and lasagna yesterday - yep he forgot the spuds then too!
I know I'll shock him and make couscous! I have the Harissa paste in the cupboard I'll need some lamb, merguez and courgettes the other stuff is in the fridge.
Sharon wrote: "I will give that one a miss. I have to cook spag bol tonight, only I use pasta twists instead."Going to Tunisia for your hols and don't like couscous!Lol its just a highly seasoned lamb and chicken stew with chick peas which no matter how long you cook them never taste any better! I pick em out alain picks out the chick peas red and green peppers and the courgettes too!
Only leaves the carrots, sauce, meat, merguez and semoule with raisins!
I am going to turkey - LOL. I love couscous just not the lamb or courgettes YUK. Being allergic to cucumbers, I steer clear of anything related to them.
Sharon wrote: "Just finished Chap 10. What a great twist."Thought you'd like that! Who shall I pick on in chapter 13? How about the policeman in charge of the investigation? Or Sebastian he has to show himself eventually from wherever he is hiding!
Turkey, Tunisia all the same to me they all wear dresses and keep you awake with their wailing all night in their minarets! You can have veggie couscous too! Courgettes aren't compulsory either swap em for another veg you could make it with just chicken or rabbit or both!
Yes I think sebastian should turn up. New life. New name, New family, plastic surgery etc with an extremely dark secret. Maybe married his plastic surgeon - sorry I am getting carried away - hee hee
Sharon wrote: "Yes I think sebastian should turn up. New life. New name, New family, plastic surgery etc with an extremely dark secret. Maybe married his plastic surgeon - sorry I am getting carried away - hee..."He's to vain to have changed his appearance dramatically - he thinks he is Jesus re-incarnated, walking on water a formality but I like the bit about a new family - but not exactly new - Mormons are polygamous I think the blonde was his other wife - maybe it should be her turn to suffer, 13 has to come into this somewhere!
Sharon wrote: "Ohhh I like it."I think his wife should be full of Eastern promise and it's her families restaurant Antoine takes Charlene too!
Sebastian sees Charlene and panics maybe spikes their meal?
The Islamic religion practises polygamy - ties in with the middle eastern thread and the over the hills through russia and beyond!
