I agree, cakes aren't that hard, you just have to think. I helped my aunt make a pirate ship for her son for his birthday. It looked complicated but once we got started it was really easy (no mold, just shaped flat pieces of cake)

I just finished cutting up my money for the decoration, anyone watching would have thought I was mad! I got my chocolate coins today so I am all set now, all that's left to do is bake the cakes and colour the roll out icing. Ooh and buy the candles!
Sharon wrote: "Hiya, yes I am here!"What are you up to today? It's bloomin cold here today we had snow last night a light sprinkling there was more on my car than on the ground!
Nothing much :o) It is cold here and snow is definitely on the way. Cool I may get a few days off out of this ;o) I can do with somje rest in the warm may actually get some well earned sleep. Have you made your cakes?

Ha..."No not yet, the birthday isn't until Sunday so I will probably make the cakes on Friday for both the cakes for Sunday delivery!
Sharon wrote: "Cool, I made bread pudding the other day and it seems to have gone down well."The element of surprise is my aim with this cake for people to try and work out how I got bank notes on top of the icing, I just have to make sure no-one tries to eat the notes, they are copies, but I'm not sure if inkjet ink is edible! They will however be able to eat the coins and chocolate notes.
Sharon wrote: "Cool, I made bread pudding the other day and it seems to have gone down well."Not to interrupt, but what kind of bread pudding? (we will make different kinds)
Sharon wrote: "They certainly sound cool. How is Sophie?"She's fine her arm is mended but she is still not allowed to do sport. She is getting excited about her trip to Normandy on her birthday and the school holidays in just over a weeks time. They have two weeks here so the children can go skiing! Not much hope of that I'm afraid, and in any case I don't do Bambi!
My grandson Hugo (the baby) is in hospital poor little mite had a bad asthma attack and has bronchitus. I took some photos of the house I'll put them up and send you the next instalment!
Oh poor Hugo, I certainly know asthma. My breathing is getting bad with this cold weather.Cool I look forward to seeing them.
@Irene - this bread pudding is made with stale bread, soaked in cold water, all water squeezed out of the bread and then mixed with brown sugar, sultanas, butter, mixed spice and cinnamon and then baked in the oven. You can eat it cold or hot. What is yours like?

I dusted the Blondes off today, now I feel a bit more human again.
Hi Irene
I make bread pudding with apple and raisins and sometimes dried apricots, but I butter my bread and I pour an egg custard mixture over it and bake it like that. It's great with thick custard or cream! Not very good for the diet though! What do you put in yours?
Sharon wrote: "Ah the blondes lol - Have you heard anything about the others?"No not yet, I sent an email to the Publishers in New York today as I have been waiting for a reply to an email I sent before Christmas asking for an ETA for release. Until I get it I can't finish my web site!
And I doubt if I will hear anything from Pegasus until the middle of February.
Sharon wrote: "Thats not good, I take it Adam is not keeping his end up? Parden the pun!"No, I'm a bit disappointed, I signed the cover off at the beginning of October and since then nothing! I have asked for a release date twice now, I keep plugging the book and trying to drum up custom and I am not getting any back up, even if the date is in March or April at least I will be able to plan for its release, get the posters printed etcetera.
I had a mug printed with the cover of The Thin Blue Line together with a couple of calendars( the mug was a freebie with an order I placed with cdiscount.com) well almost, I had to pay p & p!
Sharon wrote: "It is a shame that they can not come back to you. It does not bode well with their image!"No, and it is a pity because up until now they have been on the ball I look forward to hearing their excuses. If I don't hear back within the next two days from my 'Personal Assistant' I will send a copy of the email to Adam and see what happens then!
I would have gone straight to Adam. I am signing off for a while now, got that lovely 2hr journey home!
Sharon wrote: "I would have gone straight to Adam. I am signing off for a while now, got that lovely 2hr journey home!"Okay have a nice evening, speak to you tomorrow.

One is like yours, except it has egg in it and just left over from scratch bread. The other is to be served hot, you make a thick Carmel sauce, add raisins and sometimes other nuts are fruit. Then, make biscuit dough and drop it in spoonfuls onto the warm, fresh, Carmel sauce mix and bake until golden. Served warm.
Irene wrote: "Thanks, it's my grandmother's and is quite tasty."Mm.. I haven't made caramel pecan sauce for ages! It's yummy on waffles and on bannana splits!

Thanks it took me three hours, lots of fiddly work cutting the 'money' and sticking it to the icing!

I don't think I would have the patience to do that. Well, it's lunch time for me so I have to go. My boyfriend's mom discovered a new sandwich shop so we are getting take out to bring back.
Hi All@ Sarah R, I had the day off yesterday anyway, but we certainly did have a lot of snow, did you get a lot too?
@ Zaira, hi, how are you?

No not a flake we have lovely sunshine and blue sky and it is warmer in Brittany than the South of France! We are promised some tomorrow but they said the same thing last week and we got sunshine instead!
Sophie is gutted. Alain is ecstatic he is removing the roof of the old cottage ready for the new beams and roof to go on after they put the floor upstairs in and the kitchen and dining room floor!
He has today signed the proposals for the plumbing, the electricity and the windows and doors. After that we can work inside though he still has to find someone to put the fosse in (septic tank filtration system) yep we aren't on mains drainage out here in the sticks!
Zaira (Allisa) wrote: "Hi everyone!"Hi Zaira

The old cottage is cool, and leaky at the moment it has no roof! My boyfriend is extending it to include a lounge with patio doors opening onto a huge garden, a downstairs ensuite bedroom and two large bedrooms and a bathroom and a study area. It should be ready for the late summer hopefully!
Zaira (Allisa) wrote: ":D I have a few tests tomorrow"Good luck!

Here is an article about St. Valentine my guest blogger wrote. see link below. Hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day. Any exciting plans?http://activeamateurchef.wordpress.co...
Hi ya has your snow gone yet? We had another sprinkling the other day and the sun came out and melted all of it away!I am supervising Sophie cleaning her room, I sent her up there on saturday and every time I look inside its worse than before. Drastic measures are called for, she has tidied her draws at least now its just the rest of the room that needs attention I can't even see the second bed!
Oh dear, sounds like fun. Yes most of the snow has gone now thankfully, but it is so cold, I dare say we have more snow on the way.
Sharon wrote: "Did you take pictures of the other cakes you made?"Yes but I have a problem with one of the drivers for Windows Media I need to speak to Chris tonight so he can sort it out for me.
I am just about to start making the money cake for the French lady for Valentine's day and later in the week I am going to be making a sand castle cake for Sophie's friend's birthday on the 18th!
These cakes are easy to do all you need is imagination and patience and kids don't care if your castle's a bit wob sided as long as it has lots of sweets on it and tastes good!
