Trisha Jones (authra) | 1074 comments I am having trouble writing a press release for my book. I tried looking up how to write one but now I am confused, there are soo many different ways to write it. I am feeling really overwhelmed right now

Antonia | 20 comments Thank you, seriously. That was so nice, I'm so glad I joined this group. It really is hard being a teenager, I hate it. I'm afraid of growing up though. Everything is complicated and frustrating and depressing, I just want to sleep. I'm so tired. I really hope that I'm going to be happy and content someday.

message 9103: by [deleted user] (new)

You don't have to jump all the hurdles at once. Don't rush to grow up follow what your heart tells you. Sit back take your time and enjoy watching others run round like headless chickens. Sleep is a good thing, I have always been a power napper. If life gets too tough sleep is better than other things. One thing I have learnt is that worrying is a complete waste of time. I don't waste anytime worrying about little everyday things. I save my efforts for when the big things come along. One more thing when you are young it is hard to get motivated but it is very important to find out just one thing that interests you. It doesn't matter is you are good at that thing, it is the loving it and doing it thats important. I used to draw fantasy pictures at your age. nobody is good at anythingat first it all takes time, which you have plenty of. So start small, learn to appreciate the feel of the warm sun on your skin and go from there.

In the group i introduced you in there's a thing called read to review. You give so many copies for free (ebook, not paperbacks)for example 5 copies, the first five people that sign up for the book have to read it in around for weeks and then they have to post a review here on goodreads, amazon and their own blog if they have one. It's a good way to get reviews and your name known

Relax, take a deep breath and think about all the high points in your book. Which points can you write about without giving to much of the story away, but still give it an air of mystery and suspense?

Once you figure this out it will come easy. If you're really stuck ask for help.

When we're young we want to be older, and when we arrive at a ripe old age we then decide we want to be young again.
Make the most of your childhood, don't put your Barbie away if you enjoy playing with her just because your friends say it's childish. Don't lose your innocence because of peer pressure.

Being old sucks too, because your mind still wants to do all the stuff you did way back in your teens, but your body has other plans. It moans and complains when you go out partying. It moans and complains when you try to exercise. It moans and complains when you over-indulge. What used to take me a couple of hours now takes up most of my day!

The only thing age has over youth is experience, confidance and maturity... Lol sometimes maturity-I shocked the hell out of myself at some of the stuff I got up to when I hit 50! I reverted back to my twenties for a while, until the body caught up with me!

Live your life for today, worry about tomorrow as it arrives, because there is always another tomorrow if you fudge one, chalk it up to experience, laugh it off, and forget about it and move on to the next with an open mind, and a happy heart.

Just looked at The Quest for King Borin - it's only available in the UK I am Amazon.com, it won't let me take kindle downloads from UK here in France for some unknown reason! But I liked it anyway and followed you on Twitter!

@Eva - I followed you too Eva!

I have received a really good review for my book in the US but I know nobody is ever going to even see it. You guys have already helped me so much. Thanks again.

Well said Sarah. I wished I had known what I know now when I was younger.

I would just like lets you know someone pointed out to me that my book is not horror and should be classed as fantasy adventure. I thought because it had, ghosts in, plague and a murdered Archbishop it would be horror.Just to warn you my book is not full of gory details.

You must have been able to download a PDF copy onto your computer when you published it. If you download the pogram Calibre you can change the format of the books to mobi (kindle), epub (nook, etc). Then people give you their emails and you just send them the copy. After 4 weeks you should be able to read reviews...

sure Tony, I'll add you as well. There's two of them one for just YA, which I'm not sure if a children's book can go there, and the adult one.

@Tarian, that's no problem, hopefully it will help with the reviews. I've learnt a lot in this group as well!

@Trisha, that is pretty awesome, who translated it?
i was thinking on transated a book in spanish and see if i found it easy enough, maybe a novella so it wouldn't be too much...

Awsome if whoever did that paid you for the rights if not girl you need to see a lawyer like asap and slap an injunction on this publisher! They pay you for the right to publish in other languages and they also have to pay you royalties!

No Eva it's not awesome, it's fraud unless this company have paid Trisha for the right to publish in another language they should be sued!

Life is tiring Antonia, but we carry on. We put a big brave face on and work through our problems. Are you up for helping my daughter out with her German in September? Her name is Sophie and she is 11 and on her way up to 6th form, she speaks fluent French so a swap could be arranged. It would help you too, I think, give you a purpose. Why not volunteer to visit an old person, they would be pleased to see you, make someone else's day brighter, make you feel good about yourself. Do it through the proper channels though, maybe at an old folks home where there are people around if you need them.

My other two children used to go to the local hospital and visit the oldies. They loved it, the oldies gave them chocolate and little gifts at Christmas. And think of all the ideas you would pick up for stories.

message 9132: by [deleted user] (new)

Great advice Sarah. Old people are great really inspiring. The best way to make yourself feel happier with the world is to make someone else smile. Animals are good too. If you are caring for another living creature you have no choice but to get up and take care of them and they give so much back, especially when you feel down.

Thanks again Eva for all your help.
I am in an oasis today between snow and floods. You just have to love the British weather. That goes for you too Sarah because we once owned Normandy.

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Antonia wrote: "I feel flattered! Of course, why not? :)"

That's good Antonia, it should be a rewarding experience for both of you, I know a little German but first I'd have to translate it from English into French and then into German, complicated.

Lol I'm the person who asked a non French speaking elderly English couple if they needed help...in French... it comes as second nature to me, I quickly revised it before they had time to realise, but it made the girl on the checkout smile!

There, you made a smiley face, see it's easy to help bring a little light into someone's day, just to know someone values your opinion, and you. You're on the mend, keep it up, write it down in your journal, now go find someone to help nearer home, how about starting with mum. She would be pleased to see you smiling again I'm sure. Take care. I have to go paint my new house now. :o)

Lol,I still own a bit of it! And it rains in Normandy more than it does in Brittany, they even made an advert for Elle and Vire Cream, their slogan is 'It doesn't rain in Normandy, it's just the ideal weather to make the perfect cream!' Yeah, right, it still rains alot!
