Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) My partner in crime is off, of whom I always cover anyway. Another secretary has phoned in sick and the remaining sec in the office, has decided to transfer the sick secretaries phones all through to me, while she sits there doing nothing. I am not a happy bunny today!!!

message 9056: by Tony (new)

Tony Gilbert (tonygilbert8) Eva, I have a year.
I can't imagine how I would have felt if any of my children had to be rushed in to hospital. Glad it's all better now though.
Antonia, what interests do you have? If you have a lack of motivation, or a block, it's always best to write about something you already know. To beat it, I find that it is a good idea to sit in front of my laptop with my headphones in and just start writing. Sometimes I even find myself writing 'I don't know what to write'! It soon comes.

Antonia | 20 comments Hey tony! Well, things have been pretty complicated for me lately. I'm not in the best mental state to be honest. And I used to write a lot of good stuff when I was sad, but now I feel nothing. I feel empty inside and want to stay in bed and sleep all day, but I'll try to act on your advice, thanks for the help.

message 9059: by [deleted user] (new)

Eva so sorry to hear that your little girl has been poorly. There is nothing more stressful than when your child gets sick. I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

Hi Antoniacap, as creative people I think we are prone to getting down. We have all been there. You are certainly not alone. Being a writer is probably one of the hardest place to be emotionally. If you feel really bad sleep can be a great healer, exercise is another it gets the creative juices going. Otherwise I would suggest, just write for 15 minutes, anything you might scrap it later but so what. You are probably on one of those inbetween stages. Those bit you have to write but are a bit mundane. We all want to be in the main action all the time but stories don't work like that. Finally if life has intruded to much you might be exhausted and just need some time out. Keep smiling and never give up.

Antonia | 20 comments Dear Tarian,
Everything you said is absolutely true.
I've been diagnosed with depression and an eating disorder this year and i had a really bad writer's block ever since. I'm still trying to figure some stuff out and writing usually helped me that's why I want to overcome this writer's block as soon as possible. Again, thank you so much for your help. I truly appreciate it.

Hang on in there, we are all with you. Keep being creative it does help. Depression is a serious illness but it happens to most of us at some point in our lives. You are definately not alone. When I was younger I went through hell and suffered from anorexia. I nearly died a few times but i battled through and now today life is good. You can ride the storm. My first book 'the Tethered Unicorn' was my attempt to put it all firmly behind me and move on. A tribute to the younger me, a message to say, 'it did turn out alright.'

message 9062: by Tony (new)

Tony Gilbert (tonygilbert8) Morning Tarian. Good to hear that you used your unfortunate problems as a positive.

Morning everyone! In Kent today, raining and crappy and I'm shattered!

message 9063: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Morning everyone! Sunny and showery here in Brittany, I think it's practising for April in advance!

@ Antonia, try doing some painting, or embroidery, something to take your mind off your problems and maybe keeping a journal might help. I find when I get down in the dumps writing what I'm feeling in my journal helps vent my frustration and sometimes anger and saves those close to me coming into the line of fire.

Well I painted two more doors yesterday and Alain and I came to an agreement that I would paint 1 more bedroom and at least give the lounge and kitchen its primer coat before we start moving stuff in. Rather than rush it now and make a hash of it and be forced to do it over again! I was painting till 7 last night, and probably will be tonight too!

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments @ Eva

Glad to hear Emily is on the mend, like Tony said it's worrying when our children are sick, because all we can do is give them our undivided attention and our love, it helps but sometimes hospital is the right place for them to be. Horrible for you and your hubby, but right for Emily. Lol in a couple of days time she will probably have forgotten all about it! Whereas you will never forget.

Take care, how's the painting going? Is Dulux paint liquid Gold in Spain too? It is here, almost 50 Euros a pot!

message 9066: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Morning Sharon,

Surruptitiously put your phone on divert to the kind person that did it to you yesterday - only fair to take it in turns!

Talk to you guys tomorrow morning, I'm off to Pontivy quickly and then on to the house for another painting session! Have fun!

Thanks everyone for your messages about Emily, she was as happy as a pig in ...to go to school today. Bouncing around like a bunny, quite funny to watch. Got an idea for my story finally so should start writing tonight.Woop woop
Ps, the weather is getting warmer!

Poor you, I'm off to paint again, I was at it until 7 last night, shattered but got to keep going. We are starting moving while Sophie is in England on the 9th!

Fetching the kitchen this weekend, or well at least half of it for starters.

Have fun, I will be so glad when things get back to normal! Roll on the 1st of May, at least then I will only have 1 house to clean instead of 2!

The weather warming up and the days getting longer makes all the difference. Everyone here seems a little more up-beat, Emily is on the mend, Sarah's house is nearly finished. Sharon you sound over worked, time to tell your boss that it is spring and you need a holiday. You are all so talented and hard working.

Tony, what part of Kent are you in, I used to live there. I can heat Sarah moan, 'Liz you have lived everywhere'.

Sarah, i hear the Sistine chapel needs a touch of paint. Oh think how great it will be when you can all move into your lovely new home.

I suppose I had better follow the examle you all lead with and do some work.

message 9072: by [deleted user] (new)

Sharon thanks for adding your name to win a free copy of my book. I really hope you win because I would value your opinions. I would give you a copy anyway but Amazon charge minimum of $11.30 for it which as I am not selling any books would not make sense to keep buying. If you don't win I can always e-mail you a doc file. (Free on the goodreads group all-sorts until the 6th of April)

Thanks again,
LizIn The Devil's Own Words

At the time I was in Tunbridge Wells but I went all over today. Ashford, Dartford, Maidstone.

Evening ladies!

Home at last!

I'll let the pope touch up the paintwork in the Sistine chapel, the pay would probably be in prayer, and anyway I'm scared of heights three steps on a step ladder and I hang on for grim death with the hand I am not holding the brush in!

Another sunny, bright day here, though yesterday it was mixed with hailstorms!

Morning all, Tarian's right they should get you some help Sharon. Guess where I'm off too, yep, got it in one, but first I am going quickly into Pontivy to take Mrs Robinson a little oven and steamer unit. she's moved into a flat in Pontivy and they stipulate only electric cookers, and being on unemployment benefit she will have to wait until she can either afford to buy one or someone gives her one, or live on salad for the rest of the year!

Tarian Amazon have a special price for authors to buy the book at I think it's around the 6$ mark for promotional giveaways and book signings etc.

Good for you, put your feet up, don't forget to tell me how relaxing feels, I've forgotten how too. I think if they stuck a paintbrush in my hand in bed I would probably paint the bedroom in my sleep!

Have a nice holiday, you deserve a rest!

message 9083: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Thank you. Was in again at 06.30 this morning and told them I would not be doing any more overtime. The cheeky bitch wanted my mobile number and asked me if I would come in on my day off and type for them on the bank! I told her where to go.

Tony Gilbert (tonygilbert8) Hi all!

I am looking to get some reviews for my children's book, 'Hugo - A Quest for King Borin'. If anyone would like to buy it, I would be happy to return the favour. Alternatively, if you would like, I can send it by email as a word doc. Let me know if you're interested.

Don't know why I haven't asked before but who is on Facebook/Twitter? I am tonygilbert8 on twitter and my Facebook author page is 'Tony Gilbert Author'.

That is brilliant Eva but being a bit dumb I am not sure what you mean but i am happy to put my book up for free on a group site. Remember this is the person who paid full whack for their own book. How stupid is that and not just once but twice.

Neither! I'm from Germany, and I never tried writing a book, I'm only 16! :)

message 9100: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh sorry, Antonia. Welcome to our friendly group. As you have found out all the people here are very caring and non-judgemental.

16, you have your whole life ahead of you. This might sound strange but I am glad I am not young anymore (52), I think life is pretty tough for young people at the moment. The way I got through was to remember that life is like having an adventure. You battle your way through the jungle searching for a pot of gold. One day you might have to build a raft and travel down rapids, the next you could be on the highest peak and you might get bitten by a snake. At first you feel lost but with each step you learn more, it all becomes easier. You get to enjoy it, even the bad times don't seem quite so bad. On the way you discover the real treasures of life and realise that what you seek is not quite so important. However, you don't have to rush the real pot of gold is at the end of the journey.

Sorry if all that sounds crap but thats what i think you only ever have to take one step at a time. That way you will always reach the top.
